And Now the Continuation
NERV Emergency Vitals Activity Stabilization Ward
30 Minutes after sortie with 5th Angel.
"Heart Restart Complete, BPM raising to nominal ratings for Subject BM-03. Discharging Paddles and Disconnecting Emergency External Filtration System."
A casket-like object opened up, revealing Shinji in the nude, a large amount of scar tissue can be seen on his chest. A now forever reminder of this failed sortie attempt. His skin slightly red from the boiling LCL. Ragged breathing could be heard from him, not even having enough energy or strength to breath properly. He slowly fluttered his eyes open, but still unable to fully comprehend what's going on.
"Subject has gained consciousness, and is stable. No signs of Nervous System Breakdown. Transfer to ICU is authorized."
Three people with medical scrubs rushed in with a gurney and began to transfer him onto said gurney. The moment they touched his skin, he began to scream with a raspy voice.
"Mom, it hurts! Please help me!"
Shinji could barely move his body, as he was being moved to the stretcher. Tears could be seen streaming from his eyes as he laid there helplessly.
"Mom, Help me…"
The pain became too much for Shinji as he passed out. The nurses simply wheeled him out to treat his burns.
On the other side of the observation window, a woman could be seen holding back her anguish, seeing the boy on the other side crying out for his mother. Hse clenched her fists and resisted all maternal urges to rush in there and comfort him.
"Be strong Shinji…" Naoko said, tears rolling from her eyes.
The sounds of footsteps were heard behind her, and snapped her out of her sorrowful state. She slowly turned to face the person.
It was a person she despised.
Hated.
Hated?
"What do you want, Rokubungi?" The surname dripped with venom in her voice.
"I'm… here for my so-"
Slap.
Naoko struck Gendo on the left side of the face, knocking his glasses off of his face and causing him to recoil.
"I thought I told you to never call him your son again!"
She practically yelled at him. The passing doctors and technicians kept walking past, not wanting to incur her wraith.
"I need to see him"
Gendo said, before bending over and picking up his now cracked glasses.
"Bullshit! You've never done anything to help him, only doing things if it's convenient for you! What's the real reason you're here?" Naoko crossed her arms tightly to restrain herself from attacking him.
"That is all, I carry no Ill Intentions."
She scowled and pushed past him, stomping away to go find Shinji. Pushing past the nurses and doctors.
"Dr- Naoko…"
Gendo raised a hand to reach out to her as she stopped dead in her tracks. She clenched her fists and took a deep breath. She slowly turned around with tears of anger and sorrow.
…
"What do you want?..."
She simply stared at him bleary-eyed, not moving an inch from the spot she stopped on. Gendo internally sighed and spoke his thoughts.
"I want… to be in his life again."
. . .
Naoko then had an Idea.
"Come with me. Let's go see him."

"Do we have anything on the Angel?"
Misato asked, looking around to see who has the answer. Maya shot her hand up and began to read off a tablet.
"The target is currently drilling at the zenith of the GeoFront at a rate of 10 meters per second and it will breach the innermost layer in 17 hours."
Misato studied the battle table while listening to the Lieutenant. She carefully studied the map and the locations of the artillery. All and any artillery within a certain radius is instantly blasted at with the angel's beam attack. However anything outside that radius isn't immediately attacked and can strike, but will still be shot back at once it does.
"Any and all attempts to strike it have been met with an AT field strength measured at 7.5 on the Katsuragi Scale, with its visibility being very high. Anything perceived as a threat to it, is then immediately destroyed. The energy amount is unknown but is capable of leveling parts of the nearby mountains."
Misato sighed and thought to herself, trying to get the thought of her father's scale out of her head.
"We can't get close enough to neutralize the AT field… Maybe we can snipe it from MT Futago, it has a large lot for Equipment storage…"
She looked up and gave a nod to Maya.
"Maya, how much power is needed to penetrate the AT field?"
Maya then began to tap away numbers in the tablet.
"Around 180 Million Kilowatts." Chimed in Ritsuko, who came in with a medical tablet.
"We don't have any current weapons in our armory that can handle or output such tremendous power, or even a power source capable of producing that." Ritsuko said as she handed the tablet to Misato.
"I have a plan for that, Because Japan herself will be giving us all that energy. And I know a certain JSSDF prototype that might help us."
Makoto sighed and stood up, along with Shigeru.
"I'll Inform the JSSDF."
"I'll let the Energy Agency know."
They said respectively, as they left the room to do their task.
"From this point forward, this Operation will be named Yashima, and will be referred to as from herein forth."
Misato then instructed the rest of the crew to begin the presentation for the sniping point, before looking down at the tablet and frowning.
"So he's out for this mission?"
Ritsuko nodded as she took back the tablet.
"His body is currently too sensitive and weak to do any sort of precise combat. It would put him in pure agony if he tried to sync."
Misato sighed before snapping her fingers and turning to the scientist, who gave a concerned look.
"Do you have anything that can withstand the blast?"
NERV INTENSIVE CARE UNIT
MET 0/04:43:21
The soft yet harsh tones of the EKG filled the small yet cramped room. A slight glimmer came from the inhabitant of the room's skin. His torso bandaged with wires coming out from the wraps, connecting to the equipment next to the bed. The door to said room slid open, revealing three individuals, a man, a woman, and a teenaged girl.
The boy in the hospital bed began to open his eyes and turn to the visitors.
"Mother?..."
Naoko slowly walked up to the bed and held Shinji's hand. She gently grabbed it and sat down on the bed next to him. Rei showed up behind her and sat down on the opposite side.
"Hey Shinji, You made us worried back there." Rei softly said, giving a small smile. Shinji smiled as he welcomed the warmth from the two.
"Mom I-"
Shinji stopped mid-word as he saw the man standing behind Naoko. He felt his blood begin to boil. A pure look of malice came from Shinji, as he stared daggers at Gendo.
"Father…"
He then began to try and move out of bed taking his hand away from Naoko, reaching out towards Gendo with a choking gesture.
Shinji tried to get up, but Naoko and Rei held him down by his arms and shoulders.
"Let me go!" He yelled as he struggled, But his strength began to fail him. He slowly wound down and was gently pushed back onto his back.
Naoko began to try and soothe him, rubbing the back of his hands in a circular motion.
"Shinji, calm down. He… Asked to see you."
Confusion rushed onto Shinji's face as he turned to see his father with a small gauze pad on his cheek, and his glasses broken. Gendo noticed and turned his eyes away, not wanting to make direct eye contact.
Shinji stared for a moment before turning away.
"I came to… See if you are… Ok. I see that you are conscious enough to recognize people and your surroundings."
Gendo said, hesitating for a quick moment.
"I'll take my leave now."
He then began to depart, just as Naoko had an idea to make him keep his promise.
"He can't have me killed for this, but I suppose telling him that we have dirt on him wouldn't hurt."
"I'll be right back, Shinji, I need to speak with him."
Naoko stood up and followed the man out the door. She then grabbed him by the arm and dragged him into an empty room.
Closing and locking the door behind her, she set down a small device that distorts sound for any microphones listening nearby.
"What is the meaning of this?"
Gendo began to cross his arms as he internally became nervous. He now feels like he is in danger.
"I know about the Human Instrumentality Project, and I know about your version."
Gendo narrowed his eyes dangerously, staring at Naoko through fractured lenses.
"You thought you could keep us in the dark. I know you have someone down there maintaining Rei. And I know about Adam."
Gendo's face turned into an annoyed expression.
"If I were you, I'd tread carefully. The Council doesn't take too kindly to dissenters. SEELE has eyes and ears everywhere."
Naoko scoffed and pointed at the corner of the room where the door was next to.
"Security Update Version 4.6.2-A The MAGI can now detect any outgoing radio, AM or FM signals from within the GeoFront, Along with jamming them. Any Microwave signals are also monitored. While I could jam the signal from this room it would be suspicious."
The commander sighed, Before sitting on a chair next to the empty bed.
"My scenario has been abandoned now. There is no further need for my plans. Yui will not return."
Naoko pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. Right before her sat one of the most powerful men in the world, a master of stoicism and deception, here with a slap mark and broken glasses. Here he just said that he gave up, that his plans are useless. 11 years of planning, scheming, manipulating, all down the drain.
A pathetic man.
"I'll keep this from the council, if you listen to my instructions."
He made no attempt to hide his annoyance before simply crossing his arms in contempt.
"And do pray tell, you would like me to do? Crawl on my knees and beg for forgiveness?"
Naoko chuckled sarcastically.
"No, As much as it would be entertaining, I have something else that would be better. If you want to prove that you are sorry, you will have to earn it."
She said, jabbing a finger at his chest.
"You won't be easily forgiven-"
"I don't expect nor deserve forgiveness."
He said those words with the slightest hint of sorrow in his voice. Naoko was about to retort, but was swiftly interrupted.
"MAGI Director Naoko Akagi please report to the Primary Command Center immediately."
She sighed and regained composure. She walked over to the door and placed her hand on the door handle before looking back.
"Don't forget about what I said."
She opened the door and left.
PRIMARY COMMAND CENTER
MET 0/04:52:21
Naoko strode into the room already noticing Shinji and Rei in plugsuits, with Shinji holding a cold pack on his chest. He looked nervous with a pained look on his face.
"What's going on, why is he out of bed?"
Ritsuko sighed and began to speak.
"We've come up with a plan to eliminate the 5th angel. Rei will be on sniper point using a modified JSSDF Positron Rifle, and Shinji will be on defense with a newly modified SSTO heat shield as well… A Shield."
Ritsuko was about to hand Naoko the tablet explaining the plans, but it was quickly shoved back by Naoko. She had an angry look on her face.
"No! Absolutely not! You shouldn't endanger your brother like this! He's clearly still injured!"
She then took the tablet from Ritsuko and gave it a read through, frowning at certain parts.
"Mother, I know he isn't in the best of shape, That's why he is mainly on standby. I don't like using him when he's like this. I don't want my baby brother hurt, but we have to do this."
Naoko stood there before sighing. Pinching the bridge of her nose, she shook her head from frustration before Shinji laid his hand on her shoulder.
"Mom, I'll be fine. I promise."
. . .
"Alright, I believe you."

Sitting on a gantry was both Shinji and Rei, chatting amongst themselves before they had to board their respective entry plugs.
"Shinji, are you sure you're fine to pilot?"
Rei asked, her knees held to her chest. She clearly had a look of worry on her face.
"I'm sure I'll be fine. And you will be too, I'll protect you, I promise."
A small smile crept onto Rei's face as she laughed a little. She leaned over and gave a quick peck on the cheek.
Shinji immediately blushed as he then began to get embarrassed.
"Don't die while protecting me, I'll get lonely without you."
Still blushing, Shinji smiled and nodded his head, his body no longer tensing up from anxiety.
"I promise."
A speaker came on, broadcasting its message around the area.
"Pilots, please begin boarding. Ground Crew, Begin charging once pilots have boarded. At the Tone the operation will commence."
Beginning to stand up, Rei began her trek to her Eva, giving a wave to Shinji. Her heart began to race as she began to think about the imminent battle.
Do this for him, and the others.
She climbed up onto the Entry Plug, closing the hatch behind her. Taking a seat on the crash couch, she began manual activation, going through the many yet brief checks of the Evangelions onboard Battle computers.
"LCL flooding beginning, TOC can you read me? This is Ayanami reporting in."
She waited a few seconds before the crackle of radio transmission came through.
"Lieutenant Ibuki here, We are receiving your telemetry and voice. Begin loading the fuse into the chamber."
Rei nodded even though they can't see her. She willed the Evangelion to pull back on the bolt and load the fuse into the chamber.
BEEP
"Operation Yashima is now in effect."
Tokyo III started getting dark, Sector by sector, its power being turned off. Across Japan, Cities began to shut off their power and redirecting it to Mt Futago. The super capacitors lined up on the road began to charge, its cooling units turning on to bring it to sub zero temperatures, all to keep it from overheating.
The hum of millions of volts coursing over hundreds of meters of cables, all of them heating up rapidly.
"Im bringing up the targeting computer now."
A visor then raised over Rei's head and placed itself on her eyes. Thousands of instructions and arithmetical data courses from the MAGI to the Evangelion's targeting computer.
"Begin stage 1 through 7 charging sequence!"
Maya's voice came over the site's speaker, crew rushing inside protected trailers after beginning the automated charging.
The air began to get warmer as the massive about of energy started to charge the super capacitors at a rapid rate.
"Release the final safety measures! Begin accelerator connection to Positron Rifle!"
The sounds of crackling energy began to form around the final tesla coils near the rifle.
"High energy readings from the target's reactor! Shot is imminent!"
Rei readied her finger over the control yoke's trigger, the Evangelion doing the same.
"Rifle Ready!" Fire At will!"
At the instant Maya spoke, Rei pulled the trigger, but the Angel fired as well.
The coils fired into the rifle's collector sending a surge of power throughout the rifle and subsequently sending out a green beam of pure raw energy.
The beam from the both, intertwined for a split moment sending both beams off in an uncalculated direction.
"She missed?!" Misato yelled out, before instructing the crew to brace for impact.
Yet the blast didn't come, standing in front of both Rei and the TOC trailer was Shinji holding up the shield with all his might. The sounds of his struggle were heard over TacNet.
"The automated charging sequence is almost complete! 10 more seconds!"
Rei reloaded a fuse into the chamber and began to aim again, despite the shield in front of her.
The intense heat surrounded Shinji, starting to melt parts of his Evangelion's armor. His breath became ragged and intense. The Angel's attack dying down and beginning to charge up again.
"The charge ready!"
Shinji sluggishly moved out of the way for Rei to fire.
"Fire!"
The trigger was pulled and another powerful green beam was shot from the rifle. Flying through the sky in mere seconds before striking the exact vertex of the Angel's point of fire.
Piercing through the crystalline structure and finally passing straight through the Angel's core, Killing it instantly. A shriek was heard across Tokyo III as it began to fall over.
The drill that penetrated the GeoFront stopped and soon fell apart.
"Target Eliminated!"
Maya said over TacNet, however Rei paid no attention as she quickly ditched the rifle and rushed over to the partially melted Unit 01.
She pulled out her Prog-knife and slid it into the emergency release mechanism in the hatch, opening it immediately and ejecting the plug. Rei grabbed the plug as it purged the LCL from its insides.
She set it down and exited her own Evangelion with no hesitation. As she ran over to the plug, the heat from the blast still radiated in the air.
"Shinji!"
She grabbed onto the Plug's emergency hatch handle and tried to pull it out and turn.
The immense heat the came from the plug, began to melt through her plugsuit and burning her hands, but she didn't care.
Soon the handle gave way and turned, releasing the locks and opening the hatch. Rei swung it open and quickly jumped inside, the LCL on the floor still hot.
There on the crash couch sat a barely conscious Shinji. He turned over to look at her and smiled.
"I told you I would protect you…"
Rei smiled and rushed over, hugging him tightly.
"You idiot…"
Well this chapter took quite a long time to make, as I had things to do, and still need to do. I hope it was worth the wait.
