"Ikari, May I speak to you for a moment?"
Naoko said, slightly opening the door just to peek in.
Gendo perked his head up from his laptop and looked over at Naoko.
"I have the time. Enter."
She slid in and closed the door behind her, then making her way over to his desk. She stopped right in front of it and placed a hand on the desk.
"Have… you noticed anything strange with Shinji lately?"
Gendo paused for a moment before continuing typing.
"You know I'm not around him much. How should I know?"
He said, hoping this would be all that it is.
Naoko sighed and rubbed her head.
"Gendo, Do you know what an Oedipus Complex is?"
He stopped what he was doing and slowly turned up to her, it was obvious he knew.
"So… He does hate me…"
She shook her head.
"No, I don't think so. But he is extremely overprotective of me. While he does show interest in other girls, he isn't… Interested enough in them."
Gendo nodded slowly.
"I see…"
This is very troubling to the both of them. Shinji could
harbor romantic feelings for Naoko and true hatred towards Gendo.
"I thought it only happened in the Oral Stage…"
"I thought so too… Apparently not…"
Before the two could get further into thought, the Angel alarm went off.
"Damn. Let's see if we can get Jet Alone to scout out."
"Mm."
TEN MINUTES LATER
JET ALONE READY CAGE
M: JA IS BEGINNING DATA POOLING FROM MAGI DATA BANKS
C: TOKYO-III ARTILLERY RANGES ARE LOCKED AND READIED
B: PILOT SHINJI AKAGI IS IN THE READY ROOM
C: JSSDF IS ON STANDBY
M: JA IS COMPILING AND RUNNING BATTLE SIMULATIONS
B: PILOTS SHINJI AKAGI IS NOMINAL
C: HALT
M: HALT
MAGI BALTHAZAR HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM PRE-BATTLE LOGISTICS
Shiro stood before his creation, finally achieving what it was supposed to do. He felt so proud.
As it rolled out, he couldn't help but feel worried about this sortie.
It hadn't had much practice within the Internal Simulations, and Jet Alone was only purchased a few days ago. It's currently being synchronized with the MAGI, a system that might not work with the JA's Quad Processing System.
"Godspeed Jet Alone."
He said before turning around as he heard the sound of footsteps.
"Mr Tokita, Are you ok?"
It was Asuka, She was wearing her red plugsuit, something that Tokita found odd with the Evangelion Program.
"Yes, I'm just overseeing the deployment… Shouldn't you be getting ready for deployment as well?"
That last sentence somewhat pained him to say. He was just a teen during the Impact Wars, he had seen child soldiers being deployed and slaughtered.
"They said they wanted to see how Jet Alone would fare with one Evangelion supporting it. Rei will be heading up with it at Lift Exit number 32-A"
She peered behind him at Jet Alone being moved on a Lift Pad.
"It looks odd…"
He chuckled and turned back to look at it.
"It's kinda based on an old drawing I made when I was a kid. Then I modified it to be practical, fitted it with a reactor, and made it fully autonomous."
Asuka nodded as she listened and watched.
"Reactor Nominal, Ready for Dual Deployment."
Asuka stretched and began to leave.
"Welp, I have to be near my Evangelion in case they need me up there. Take care Mr Tokita."
She gave a wave and left.

"Good luck kid…"
EVANGELION LIFT EXIT 32-A
MET: 00:00:32
"Unit 00 has reached the surface!"
"Unit 00 you are go for lift off. Stay close to JA. A weapon cache should be on your left."
"Rodger!"
The Evangelion was released from its clamps and lurched forward. Rei willed the Evangelion to walk over to the Weapons Cache. The sliding door opened to reveal a Pallet Rifle, to which she grabbed.
Jet Alone walked over to Unit 00 and began to scan the environment.
"Target is 300 Meters at 3 o'clock. Recommending Reconnaissance."
Jet Alone's voice was robotic and masculine. It had an almost eager tone.
Rei spotted the Angel from a distance and saw that it was approaching from the ocean. Its greyish blue hue was a stark contrast from the clear blue waters.
It waddled onto land awkwardly and made a slow beeline towards the center of Tokyo-III.
"Target is approaching."
Jet Alone faced the direction of the Angel and scanned it.
"Core Found. Suggesting hand to hand combat."
"2 out of 3 MAGIs give affirmation. Balthazar is withholding judgment."
Came Naoko over TacNet.
Rei nodded and began to walk over to the Angel with caution. She held up her rifle at the Angel as it began to slow down. Jet Alone followed her closely behind.
The Angel stopped and faced the two, almost as if studying them.
It seemed to just stand there looking at them.
"Do we have permission to engage?"
Before anyone could answer, the Angel began walking towards the two with an arm stretched out to Unit 00.
"Unit 00 Open fire!"
Said Jet Alone. It quickly jumped around the Angel and tried to restrain it.
Rei raised the rifle and pulled the trigger over the core. Dozens of rounds began to fly out towards the core and impacted it with great force.
The Angel lashed about and tried to escape, but the barrage of bullets overcame it. Its core shatters almost immediately.
A loud screech was emitted from the Angel as it stretched out an arm to Unit 00, but dying right after.
. . .
"Pattern blue is silent. Angel is defeated…"
. . .
"Unit will now return to the carrier. All threats have been eliminated."
With that, Jet Alone began walking back to the lift. Rei could only stare in awe at the sheer power the mech had.
"Rei, return to HQ for debriefing."
"Aye."

PRIMARY COMMAND BRIDGE
SAME DAY
5:43 PM JST
"God damn it. First Shinji, now Balthazar is acting up!"
Naoko said, frustrated. She entered the inner parts of the MAGI unit and began connecting her laptops to the debugging interface.
Soft footsteps approached the outer part of the entrance.
"You wanted to see me mom?"
Shinji asked. She replied with a nod and her hands gesturing to him to sit down.
"RS-232."
She said, extending an arm expectantly. He picked up a connector and handed it to her.
"So Shinji, do you have any girls you like in school?"
She asked, not even bothering to look up at him. He blushed a small bit before answering.
"N-No…"
. . .
"Guys?"
"No!"
. . .
"I see… Why is that?"
. . .
"I… Don't have any interest in anyone at school…"
. . .
"Parallel port."
He hands her it.
"Shinji… I think this might be an issue…"
. . .
"W-What do you mean?..."
She slightly got up and looked at him.
"Shinji, you're obsessed with me."
. . .
"N-No I'm not…"
"Yes you are. Shinji, you haven't pursued anyone else because you've been focused on me!"
"No I'm not!"
"Yes you are! Just admit it!"
"No Im Not!"
At this point Shinji was yelling. He was about to storm out when the MAGI began to close back up.
"What the?!"
As the MAGI unit lowered back into the ground, fans and pumps began to turn back online.
"MAGI BALTHAZAR IS NOW ONLINE. PRIORITY CHANGED. PROTECT SHINJI AKAGI."
Sorry for such a short chapter, I'm not too good with the battle scenes, but eventually when this is all finished I'll rewrite it and make it better! Im very much planning something big for this!
