Have you ever got the strong feeling that people only hang out with you because they have ulterior motives?
It had been 4 days since Doug had started her new life and things were strained to say the least.
There was this group of girls who wanted her to dress as a girl for one day and she got a feeling that many guys agreed.
Queen made her face more male and suddenly huge false eyelashes showed up with these girls.
She tried to hang out with guys but they were either poorly hiding the fact they were staring or they would do things that felt like they were touching her too much or they would make comments that made her uncomfortable.
That whole legendary thing we're a guy can simply ask you to play video games wasn't happening with her.
She felt like she didn't really leave that oppressing life behind because the people around her were pressuring her to be that way too.
She needed a friend who wouldn't make her feel weird and she can finally have fun with.
Right now, it was the weekend and she was scrolling through Nino Lahiffe social media.
And why?
Because she only met him in person for a few minutes and she knew he was a 'dude, dude', not the toxic one that was always pushing you to do stupid manly contests, but somebody you can just hang with.
Going through it, she saw his life didn't completely wrap around Adrien Agreste, he went on dates with his girlfriend and hung out with other people and worked at Parities.
He had a life too.
She would love a guy like that near her.
Well, he would be hotter and have more style.
And Queen suddenly interrupted her and said. "You know I could make your wish come true. All you have to do is write a list with a description"
And she said. "Wait. Seriously?"
The cat was serious and Doug used Nino as a reference for her list, and add her own stuff because there was no way her best friend wasn't going to be physically fit even if they didn't have huge muscles.
She gave the cat the list and the cat added something.
It turns out it was a family.
She was stunned but when she thought about it, the cat made the right call.
She was all caught up with what he would mean for her that she never thought about how bad it was, to be created and come home to an empty house with nobody to talk to.
Not having any memories of your parents telling you a bedtime story when you were a child before going to bed was terrible.
Doug knew she can just cross out the addition and just use him to boost herself up but she wasn't that level of selfish.
She wanted him to be happy too.
She approved of the final list and it vanished before her eyes, and suddenly her phone lit up and she got a text from 'Kyle Venguard' that told her that he and his family had just moved in and that they were unpacking right now.
He then asked her, if she wanted to walk to school and get smoothies on the way just to see everybody face and then she can show him around Paris.
Hello! Her face changed, she texted back sure.
And the guy didn't text her until Sunday night and she didn't feel uncomfortable when his name popped up, they talked for a bit and then he left.
The next morning, Kyle showed up.
Kyle Vanguard showed up and he was magnificent.
He had Nino skin colour and shaved head but that's where the similarities ended.
This guy had beautiful grey eyes and a nice face, he wore a long black sleeve shirt under a cream short-sleeved shirt, baggy trousers, a red watch on his arm and grey sneakers.
His teeth we're impeccably white.
Sparkle.
Her eyes were wide.
Then she realised he was saying something and she listened and he said. "Dude! Are you still asleep?"
She shook the glamorous view off and said. "I guess"
He said. "Well, a smoothie is the perfect energy drink" and then he began walking and she fell in line with him.
Queen saw her adjust to his walking style.
And as the walk went on Doug didn't feel weird at all, in fact, they made small talk and he was barely even looking at her, they went for smoothies and there wasn't anything weird going on.
She noticed that people would look at Kyle, see his eyes and memorised too.
They made it to school and went up the steps.
Students saw Kyle beautiful eyes and opened their mouths.
She took him to the principal office and went to class.
A few minutes later, Kyle came in and said. "Hey, ma dude"
Everybody in class was wide-eyed.
Kyle then introduced himself to the class saying he was from Rio and then the teacher told him to sit next to him.
Her seating partner didn't want to move through, so instead of giving Kyle a shrugging and letting him sit somewhere else, she made a stance.
She was the one who moved to an empty table and sat down and Kyle sat next to her.
Her former table mate opened his mouth.
She ignored him like she didn't notice him staring at her every chance he got?
As if, she would give up a chance to sit with Kyle for him.
And so a weird day began.
Kyle being here was fun and lively in class, he brightened up the day.
She found it weird that guys would suddenly get uncomfortable around her though.
However, Kyle later whispered to her not so quietly that one guy was totally gay within earshot of that guy.
The guy face turned completely red.
It also happened to be the guy she was having the most problems with.
And as it turns out, straight guys don't like to be thought of as gay by other dudes, especially by attractive dudes.
The guy avoided her for the rest day.
When she needed to go toilet, Kyle chilled against her stall while she went and both of them encountered the girls at lunchtime.
When he saw them, he said. "Well, aren't you 4 cute? You should turn your attention to me because I get naked pretty easily, ladies"
And all four girls faces turned red when they heard that and they weren't the only ones.
They then began spluttering and he just leaned in with a sexy smile and said. "So when is the fitting?"
He was too much for them to handle and they scampered off.
Doug looked at the guy in awe.
Her hero.
And then Kyle revealed how cool he was, by getting several girls phone numbers in front of her eyes.
Damn, she was still single.
After school, Kyle had invited her to the arcade when they toured and she was in heaven, last time she went near a place like this, it was for a date years ago.
It was the only time she went there so it was great going there as just friends.
They had lots of fun and she didn't have to worry about being ladylike at all and flirting.
They posted pictures online as two dudes just gaming and having a good time.
Kyle won a bunch of prizes, while she barely got one and thanked the guy for sharing his winning with her.
Kyle phone beeped and he suddenly said. "My parents just texted me that neither of them are available to pick up my little sister from the babysitter at the park. Want to come with me to pick her up? I have a limousine"
And her eyes went wide and she said. "You had me at Limo"
Kyle laughed nicely at that.
And a real limo did show up and they got inside.
Doug thought if her parents were here, they would encourage her to date him promptly and book all these appointments just to look good for her rich friend.
It was nice to not feel this pressure even though she was being blown away.
It was nice just gazing out of the limo and not being expected to make a move.
They arrived near the park and saw people just relaxing on blankets.
Then Doug saw them.
He saw Alya Cesaire, Marinette Dupain-cheng and Nino Lahiffe with three kids, one kid looked like a doll and was clearly related to Kyle.
All three teens saw her just as Doug saw them and showed surprise.
Nobody expected to see each other.
The little girl saw Kyle and said. "Big brother!" Rushing to him.
And instead of picking her up, Kyle did a cool handshake with her that was honestly fire to watch.
And he said. "Hey, how's it going little sis?"
And then he picked her up.
Kyle turned to see everybody but Doug, staring at him with open mouths.
Yeah, everybody reacted to Kyle this way for the first time.
However, for half of them, the shock was seeing somebody rock the shaved look.
Nino especially opened his mouth.
Kyle said. "Ur, whos the babysitter?"
And Alya nudged her friend who suddenly awkwardly rose and said. "T-That would be me. Marinette Dupain-cheng, sorry, I kind of forget that I also booked with two other kids"
So that's why there are more. Thought Doug and Queen seeing the other two kids.
Kyle said. "Well, no worries. It's all fine. I can see it's going good here. I'm Kyle Vanguard by the way and this is my best friend Doug"
Best friend? All teenagers face changed.
And Alya rose and said. "We've met before and I'm Alya Cesaire, world-class babysitter and this is my boyfriend Nino Lahiffe. Nino little brother is here"
And Kyle and Nino's eyes met and Kyle said. "What's up ma, dude?"
And.
The.
Look.
On.
Everybodys.
Face!
Queen and Doug both enjoyed Nino face the best.
It must be scary hearing your own line said right back at you as a reflex.
Kyle said. "Well, since you all helped, here" and then he proceeded to give all 3 of them a 100 dollar bill with his phone number to Marinette and all of them opened their mouths.
The kid's eyes sparkled.
Kyle said. "I gave you the number so that you can know when I'm coming."
Then his sister got his attention by shaking her now empty juice box at him and he said. "All done?"
He took it and flicked it and before their eyes, the box landed perfectly into the far away trash can perfectly.
Everybody opened their mouth, even Doug.
The dude did it without looking!
The kids were blown away.
Kyle said. "Well, I guess I'll see you guys around then" getting their attention back.
He then said. "Oh, before I forget" then handed the two kids both a twenty. "Thanks for being such well behaved kids"
The kid's eyes sparkled.
Kyle then turned around and said. "Laters"
And Doug finally spoke and said. "Bye, you lot" trying to not smile evilly at them.
It was really hard not to.
Then the limousine drove out more to become visible to them all and before everybody at the parks, very eyes they got in, Doug enjoyed it immensely when they saw how they were leaving.
The door closed and the limo drove off.
Best day of her life.
And then she was taken home and everything was fine until Kyle texted her about if she had seen the news.
No.
Why?
She switched to the news and her world came crashing down.
There on the right hand of the screen next to reporter Nadja Chamack was a picture of the old her, long hair and all, with the words missing at the bottom.
Nadja Chamack said. "Her name is Angel D'blank, age 14, just 4 days ago she went missing from her room. We go now to her parents"
And she felt sick when she saw her parents surrounded by the press.
Her controlling dad said. "Angel, please come home. We miss you. We miss our baby girl. We miss our Angel"
Nadja came back and said. "If you have any information about Angel D'blank, please contact this number on the screen. Let's reunite a family"
And she flopped down.
Her new life was over.
How many people have seen Doug?
It wasn't hard to see that she had just cut her hair and wore male clothes.
People were going to look into Doug and find almost nothing and on Monday, her parents will be waiting for her in front of her high school, along with the press.
She needed to completely disappear and get a new face.
She didn't care if Doug's sudden disappearance confirmed that she was indeed Angel.
She needed to leave.
Suddenly Queen said. "You do realise, there is a way for you to stay in Paris and have the whole world protect you from your parents right?"
Silence.
She turned around and said. "How?"
Queen said. "It's crazy but have you ever thought about pretending that you're an alien?"
She was wide-eyed and shook.
Queen said. "Trying to be from a Parallel world won't work because people would ask why now and question if it really is a Parallel world. And trying to be a mermaid or something, can just be brushed off as having powers."
The cat was logically correct.
Queen said. "All you have to do is be seen getting on a spaceship, spend the weekend in it and come back. The world won't let your Paris come near you, after that. Plus, can you imagine the level of pampering?"
She was silent.
Queen said. "I have the power to do this but time is ticking. It's either this, or we run halfway across the world and you have to go through pain daily to completely get away from them"
And Doug said. "What do I have to do?"
