In a dark room, a cage rattled nosily. There was someone in it. "Let me go!" They yelled, "Let me go!" But nobody did.
The cage stopped rattling, the person inside stopped shaking it.
It was useless, they thought. They would never be free again. The person inside the cage thought of all his friends; Robin, the boy wonder, the bossy leader who always had to win.
Starfire, the girl form another planet, who was so unlike her sister.
Cyborg, the half man, half robot, who was a good friend to him.
And Raven, the one person that made Beastboy feel both up and down at the same time.
Beast boy cursed himself for being so careless.
Cyborg told him not to go downtown alone.
But Beastboy did. That was why he was in this mess.
That was why he was locked up in a cage and unable to use his powers for 48 hours.
That was why his friends still thought he was downtown at some club.
That was why he was so alone. Beast boy slapped himself mentally,
Dude, we're talking about a cage. Nothing is too hard for Beastman.
Beast boy grinned, "Dude, you are so right." Beastboy started to do
something he had rarely done, think. "Now," he whispered to himself,
"If I was a key to a cage were would I be?" Beastboy looked around
when something sparkled on the floor. The key! It had to open the cage!
He thought. Why else would a key be lying around? Beastboy sighed,
it was too far away to reach. "Dude!" Beastboy slapped his forehead,
"My belt."
Beastboy took off his belt and approximated how far he would have to throw it.
"About a metre," he mumbled. Beastboy hit the ground with his belt trying to tap the key with his belt. He missed.
"Come on, Beastman, you can do this…" He tried to reassure himself.
Beastboy hit the ground with his belt a second time. No luck either.
"Come on, for Rae…" Yes! He had hit the key. Carefully, carefully, he whispered. Beastboy focused on trying to drag the key to him. Yes, come on, you can do it Beastboy… The key came closer and closer until Beastboy could reach it. Yes!
He mentally congratulated himself. All he had to do was reach out and –
But he couldn't grab it – anymore. Someone's foot was on the key.
And they didn't want Beastboy to escape.
They were wearing a giant red battle suit with the letter 'A' on the middle.
It was Adonis.
