Jennifer's confidence always boosts when she's able to accomplish something good. Her drive is to better the world around her and give the best version of herself to her family. She can focus, think through her actions, no matter what color she is.
For Lucy, her abilities turned out to be very different. Once her yellow eyes start to glow she's beyond calling back. She can't think in her fog; an occurrence Jennifer simply cannot relate to no matter how hard she's tried.
Lucy's tendency to ramble and mentally drift, vanishes. She's suddenly focused and ready to zero on whatever has set her off to begin with, only another half of her is taking over. The half who wants to kick her childhood cat from off her bed. The half of her that craves revenge for school bullying and her parent's divorce. A frustration stemming from this inner conflict of constantly trying to 'be good' and suppress the rage.
Right now, Loki is her target. For backstabbing her, for taking the stones she's been fixated on.
Shredding and thrashing is too easy, challenging demigods and knocking them off one by one. She's calculating behind that blank stare and her ability to track and hunt is a genetic 'gift' from her father.
Her bangs flow lightly in the breeze, the blue streak in her hair flows over her golden eyes. She toys with a knife she's stolen off one of the guards, green and gold etching over the solid handles.
Lucy chooses to take her time as she lets the soft breeze guide her to where she needs to be. She's zeroed in, fixating on her victim and ready to attack in the same way she's done the others; Merciless.
Any hope of processing logically is gone. She has one mission: to destroy the people who have hurt her. And the only green that covers her skin is a tint from a vein on her lip.
Izabella leaps backward, out of breath. The thin strap of her top slipping as she brushes her hair back;
"I do not want to hurt you- ah!"
Loki trips her with a roll of dust, amused when she squeals. She stands in a huff.
He pants, resting his hands on his hips;
"This is absurd. Are you finished?!"
She charges at full speed, Loki duplicates himself.
"Come now. I've blocked every warp. I could destroy you if I wished-," Loki stops himself, shaking his head, "Try something else!"
She groans brushing her hair back and moves to send a dagger like mist in his direction.
Loki dodges, "Now shape it."
"You cannot escape!"
"Oh my word,' he pivots, blocking her antics almost blindly at this point, 'You are no one. You have no relevance without me! I can turn you to a worthy ally. You will be stronger than your dull mentor. You will do far more than thrash demigods, with magic far greater than that of Agmundr's, dare I say."
"No!" She snaps a bolt towards him, completely infuriated.
"Do I see damage due to poor training," he holds her hand, rotating her wrist to see the scars.
"Stop!" She pulls away.
Loki frowns in disgust, standing taller, "Such disrespect for your king."
Izabella spins, crouching into Natasha's pose as long as she's on the ground, flipping her hair back, "You are making me angry."
Loki tries and fails to suppress his laugh, hands clasped in front of him, "What infuriates you so?"
"You taunt me," she spins her magic, shooting weakened 'darts' in his direction.
"I am pushing you to achieve your own glorious purpose. Do you not sense the many abilities you've yet to tap into?…You're getting tiiredd,' Loki sing songs, 'there is an easier way."
He grins, somewhat amused by her skill and determination.
"I can do this, all day," she pauses, spinning her green mist into a flat circle to match Steve Rogers' shield, an object she's held before, flinging it forward in one more desperate attempt.
Loki casually avoids, still holding a smug grin, "It would seem you're out of ideas."
"Lucy!"
Loki ducks to avoid Jameson's swing upon arrival and the end of her knife.
Izabella panics, "Stop!"
Loki clones himself over the surrounding rock, menacing, taller than his true height.
He snickers over being dropped, "My dear, your friend is a menace. She's even begun to collect trophies from her victims…As long as she doesn't thrash me, there are no hard feelings."
"It is one knife," Izabella mumbles, adamant about remaining optimistic.
"It is so much more."
Lucy circles herself, reaching to hold and pummel nothing but air. She knocks Izabella from her way and charges for the clone she misplaces for Loki.
Figures charge with incoming stray prisoners from Loki's escape.
Looking over her shoulder Izabella spots Thor and hears the hulk moving in. Valkyrie looks about ready to destroy the world as she leads the charge through the impending thunderstorm.
The Russian warps with her hands, sending some incoming prisoners in the opposite direction.
Seeing the hulk sends Laufyson into a state of utter terror, giving Lucy a chance to headbutt. She stands over the demigod with her knife at his throat.
"Where are the stones."
Loki tips her back, fighting with Lucy. Izabella and Loki share a knowing glance, attempting to call back the objects they must've sent around the field in their back and forth.
He cringes in full disgust, spewing magic with one hand to fight Izabella, "I grow tired of your games! I can barely tolerate one of you let alone two."
"You hid them," Izabella accuses.
"You were the one flailing about like some Midgardian peacock. Perhaps you are pulling some trick!"
Izabella screams, completely frustrated with herself and her enemy.
Loki busies himself with Lucy, pinning her to the ground and wrestles for a knife.
Izabella whips around to see Riley with Mjolnir in her hands as she knocks the correct Loki completely unconscious.
With a distracting hit to the shoulder, Lucy whips her head around to find her attacker and switches her target. Her teeth grind against one another, pivoting toward Mikhailov.
"No, no no," Izabella warps a red zoned Lucy away, not before Lucy's knife grazed against her flesh.
Natasha huffs at Riley's side and reaches to help Izabella up, "I'm impressed."
"What?" Riley asks cluelessly, Mjolnir still in her hand.
Sif is ready to take a knee, "Mortals can be worthy."
Thor steps forward slowly, extending a hand with a timid call, "Riley?"
"What?!" She asks once more.
Thor coughs, "May I take that back?"
Izabella gasps, "You were holding Mjolnir! You caught it!"
"I did what?! I- here! Thor," Riley scrambled to hand the item over.
"You hit Loki!"
"He's hard to miss. His big mouth makes the ground vibrate," she quickly hands the hammer over to Thor who can't take his eyes off the girl in shock.
Valkyrie gestures once she catches up, "I thought you three were off to Midgard."
Sif nods, "Our youngest warrior decided to ensure the rest of her friends were safe."
Natasha grumbles over Izabella trying to hide her bleeding cut. She's mid spinning Izabella like she's seven years old and just got back from playing at the park.
Natasha scans her, "Lucy hurt you? Stand up taller, what's wrong with your shoulder?"
Izabella pulls away from the redhead and insists she's fine, "… ya v poryadke ."
Natasha drops her hands in a huff. The Russian motherly tension is thick between them, " Ty prodolzhayesh' popadat' v plen . There's not a lot of blood-."
She smiles, calmly brushing Natasha's hand away, "-I'm fine. I promise."
" Bud' umneye ."
Izabella cringes, "I'm trying to."
Riley stares forward, searching in her mind for Izabella's, "I needed to make sure you were okay."
Izabella pulls Riley into a hug after Natasha lets her go.
Riley sighs and embraces it, "Are you coming with me? Or do you need to stay with hulks."
Izabella looks over the cliff, watching the prisoners charge toward the hulk and Natasha observing nervously from a distance.
"I need to stay,' Izabella spots Lucy in the crowd next, taking her time to catch up, 'I am not finished here."
"Are you up for this? It's okay if you're not," The redhead squints suspiciously back toward Izabella, still in 'mom mode'.
"I am."
Natasha looks elsewhere, finally relenting, "Don't tell hulk who scrapped you up."
Izabella nods.
Romanoff's voice changes back to a standard Black Widow persona, "Break an arm or the fight wasn't worth it."
Izabella accepts Natasha's odd way of caring, pinning her hair back, "I will."
"And if you let anything happen to Bruce or the hulk…"
"Nothing will happen to him."
"I trust you."
Mikhailov smiles and tries to get Natasha to do the same.
Sif interrupts, "Shall we go?"
Valkyrie addresses them optimistically, "We've got it from here."
"Give us a ride Izabella?" Natasha asks politely.
Riley talks next, "Corner of 5th. Queens, New York, Izzy."
The Mikhailov girl takes a breath, terrified she'll mess up as her hands lift, "Okay,' she laughs to herself, 'No pressure…just one of my best friends, my 'mom' and a goddess-This is totally fine-."
Riley mumbles, "You good?"
"Totally."
"'Totally' feels like a new word for you. It sounds way more California Girl-."
"I've got this!"
She looks Natasha in her gentler eyes and starts to let the green mist engulf them.
"This may not go the way you hope it will," Valkyrie warns Izabella as the other disappear.
Thor echoes Brunnhilde's sentiment, "I fear your friend has made herself an enemy of Asgard. We must locate every stone, imprison everyone who has escaped, and stop your friend from wreaking further havoc."
"Hulk fight Lucy-." The green giant makes his call as he catches up to them.
Valkyrie stops him with an elbow nudge, "I can round up the stragglers."
Izabella swirls her hands, magic at her fingertips as an unconscious Loki is ushered away by some of Thor's warriors, "I can help find the stones."
"You understand you have to touch them. Were you not helpless an hour ago," Valkyrie sighs.
"Small friend not helpless," Hulk retorts, defending Mikhailov.
"I am careful," Izabella reassures, comforted that the hulk believes in her- not just Bruce.
Thor twirls his hammer, "Do not let any of these criminals get the stones or reach the palace."
Jennifer Walters sips her coffee on a now crooked bench on the street corner. She's in a HYDRA cap and customized uniform to fit her size, miles from where they've dropped off Steve.
Same huffs through a laugh when she throws the hat to the ground and stomps it with her glitzy sneaker;
"Even their clothes suck."
"Good thing we didn't send you to infiltrate," Sam snickers.
"I'm huge and green. It would've been hard to keep my arrival a secret…I hope Steve is doing okay."
He taps a small pad on his watch, "He's had worse."
Jennifer lifts her chin and holds a sad grin as she looks out on the street, subconsciously crushing her foam coffee mug.
He checks over his shoulder, "Are you alright?"
She squints, looking off into the distance over an incoming truck;
"Is it my headache or is that truck speeding toward us…"
"It looks like Brody," he stands, lifting his dark goggles.
Jennifer steps beside him, prepared to stop the vehicle with her hands extended, "Maniac incoming."
She lifts the truck when it reaches her, listening to the screams and recognizing the driver;
"Rick?!"
Sam unlatches the door when Jen replaces it to the ground.
The boys pile out, Brody recognizing Sam and Peter and Brody recognizing Jennifer.
A woman climbs out and adjusts her glasses, "I knew it was a bad idea to let Rick drive!"
Sevig climbs out next, disoriented and looking Jen over, "Woah. You're taller in person."
"Who is this?" Walters points, addressing Brody.
"Dr. Selvig,' he answers, 'one of Darcy's friends."
"Ohh! I know you,' she nudges the old man, 'You called Bruce once while he was at my Thanksgiving party. Chewed his ear off for two hours. He missed my announcement that Patsy Walker and I were dating. I'll never forgive you."
Selvig scratches his head, "I apologize?!"
Garrett adjusts Lucy's bow up over his shoulder, "We want to fight with you all."
Sam admits with little emotion, "Everything is either run by HYDRA or has been blown up since you've been gone. The city isn't the safest place."
"We know,' Rick huffs, 'That's why we're here and we're not turning around."
Peter Parker calls in agreement, "What he said."
Sam crosses his arms with a laugh he can't control, "You're going to show up asking Maria for a job after losing her daughter?! Good luck."
Brody chimes in, "Riley chose to go with my sister who had a plan-."
"Which was?"
"Well, Mr. Falcon; I think she went to Asgard...She's a bit odd sometimes but I roll with it…and most of the time it works out."
Sam shares a smile, fond of the Mikhailov boy who has the same fighting spirit as he does, "Right."
"We hulks don't have a good track record with you sister,' Jennifer coughs into her elbow, met by glares, 'What?!"
"Do you children plan on chatting all day,' Tony Stark arrives with a shattered boot and his suit a scraped up mess, 'There's a battle three blocks from here and you idiots are standing around doing, what?!"
Sam wakes up from his trance and steps forward, "We need to suit up."
"I'm on it!" Peter park starts in.
"You minors stay with Jenny here," he bites back.
Garrett groans, "Peter is the only minor here."
Tony looks at Brody, "Can you fly? Preferably with your laser eyes under control this time?"
Brody salutes, "Yes Sir."
"Go do what you do. Sam might have left a special uniform for you back at base."
Brody nods appreciatively, understanding the meaning behind it, "That's incredible, thank you."
Tony pivots to his next target, "I know you from somewhere. I'm spacing."
Darcy snaps her fingers upon being called out, "Yeah! I was at your house multiple times but that's fine. The name is Dr. Lewis. In case you forgot-."
"Oh! Nerd girl. Let's hope you're still in the intelligent category. We've been missing competence for the past six years-."
"Well you can count on me."
"Fabulous. Shulkie?"
Jennifer looks up with a twitch, "What?!"
"Your suit is at the compound. Can you punch a few goons on the way?"
Jennifer scoffs, "No! I'm afraid I'll get my hands dirty,' he glares, she rolls her eyes 'Yes. I would be happy to exterminate the pests."
Stark points to Garrett, "Maria told me to send you home the second you arrived but it looks like you brought a weapon-."
Garrett blushes, "I mean it's Lucy's-."
"Can you use it?"
"I don't, know how helpful I am at the moment- compared to you all."
Brody nudges his friend, "You're plenty helpful. Have a little faith in yourself."
Tony points, "What the kid said. Go be a hawkeye."
Sif reaches to catch Riley's shoulder, watching her react from the warp.
Natasha steps purposefully, "Tell me there's at least one vial of Widow's Bite that hasn't been curated for the grave."
Sif rotates in her stance, shield over her arm, "So this is the ever famous city of New York. I've only been to New Mexico…Maybe Los Angeles on one of Thor's grand bets- I digress."
Sif rotates her shoulder, "Which way shall I lead us?"
Riley listens. Upon hearing loud screaming and an explosion she points emotionlessly, "That way."
"Riley! You're alive!"
She doesn't need to turn around to recognize that voice, scooped into a warm hug by Garrett Barton.
She melts for a moment, her head against his chest, "Garrett. Where's my mom?"
"I can't breathe without you, Riley! I love you so much! Don't ever leave me again!"
"I need my suit," she's quickly done with their hug, eager to get back to work.
He swings his bow further up his shoulder, "Maria is at the hideout, come on I'll lead you- AUNTIE NAT!"
The spy nods pointedly, "Garrett."
"You're-! Alive?! You look…so Asgardian!"
Sam and Brody catch up to the group looking at each other and then the redhead.
"I didn't expect to see you here."
Natasha crosses her arms, "Riley made it sound as if this battle were life or death. Looks to me like you're just standing around."
Brody blinks, staring at Natasha, "Uhh…Does Izzy know?! About you? Is Dr. Banner alive too?! Izzy's gonna…I don't even know."
Riley mumbles, "She knows, her mind was blown."
Sam smiles and addresses the mess in front of them, "Go to the hideout with Garrett and Riley."
Natasha scoffs, ready to run, "I've already been downgraded to daycare duty. Where's Steve?"
"Undercover," Wilson mumbles under his breath once Natasha runs off, "Jen is gonna freak."
Tony screams over his communicator, "About what?!"
"Don't worry about it," Sam responds.
"Riley!" Maria abandons everything and hug her daughter the second she enters.
Agents are bustling around them with frantic urgency but for Riley and Maria Hill, the world goes quiet as they hold each other.
Garrett stands behind her, sharing a glance with Maria. Hill gives him a polite nod upon parting from Riley.
Riley walks with her mother's guidance over to the desk as Maria explains their situation;
"HYDRA has destroyed most of the city. Homes of our agents, supporters, it's one big mess. I have Stark in the skies with Rhodes and it looks like Brody Mikhailov- he's in a secondary falcon uniform- Tony made another."
"We need more power on the ground."
"Our She Hulk has secured the west perimeter on her own. Falcon is circling, it, looks like you came in with a third they're now traveling with?"
"Sif,' Riley blurts before elaborating, 'Izabella warped us to Asgard. Thor's plan to return with me hit a snag so he sent warriors to help us in the meantime. Let the Stark's know Anna is safe? I'm sure they're losing their minds."
"That's an understatement. Any word on Lucy?"
"Izabella can handle the criminal. Earth wasn't enough, Lucy needed to go destroy Asgard as well."
Maria sighs, flipping a switch, "Don't tell Jen."
"Hopefully they return when Thor does. Izzy promised to fight beside me."
Maria does a double take, suddenly aware of the quiet redhead standing back.
"Natasha…?"
"Hi Maria," Romanoff fiddles with her baton at her hip.
"Where have you been?"
"I'm here now," Natasha looks over at the small group who have yet to take their eyes off her, "Where am I needed?"
Violet comes zipping into the room, a blur behind her when she freaks out, "Miss Natasha! YOU'RE alive! How are you alive?!"
Natasha smiles over Violet's intense hug.
Riley holds her head, completely irritated, "I thought you had an 'I'm so pretty' pageant to go to?"
Violet huffs, returning Riley's sarcasm, "Four days ago, mi amor! I won, cashed out my prize money, bought a car- Point is! I'm here because your mom called- do you realize how long you've been gone?!"
"You can run 3x faster than a jet plane. Why do you need a car?"
Violet scoffs, "I wanted one. And now I can drive you around! Beep beep."
"Nat? Is that really you?" Clint comes tip toeing out and rounds the corner, dressed casually.
The redhead drops her arms and heads directly for her friend after parting from a hug with Violet, "Clint."
His eyes are tired. His left arm has a few tattoos of different symbols that mean things to him, a black widow spider at his wrist.
Garrett gasps, pointing to his father and interrupts, "What are you doing here?!"
He ignores his son, "I don't know whether I want to hug you or knock you unconscious. I'm leaning toward the latter."
Natasha scoffs, "I really don't want to do this right now."
"You should've thought about that before you left," he takes a swing for her. She dodges and catches his wrist to twist and pin.
"Barton! Save your energy. We can kill her later," Maria stands beside Riley and calls with the intent of introducing a temporary truce between the spies.
Natasha sighs, looking him in the eye. Clint takes a breath as his eyes fill with tears and shakes his head.
"I thought you were dead," he whispers.
"I'm here, alive," she whispers back, kind and vulnerable. Hoping to resume their friendship with as few scars as possible.
"You look the same."
"I've worked harder than I ever have in my life to become an Asgardian warrior and you think I look the same?"
"Asgard?!…Bullshit," he laughs a bit in disbelief, his rage quickly turning into tears, "I hate you right now. Thor might have to die too if he kept this secret."
Natasha crosses her arms, "I had my reasons."
Riley is zeroed in on her own project, feeling for her braille readouts to help Maria, "I wasn't expecting you to be here, Clint."
"We're on a mission. And you call me Agent Barton when we're at work, kid."
"I wouldn't know that since you haven't shown up to work in what, 4 years?"
"Hold the sass little miss or I'll ban you from our guest room."
"…you said that last month."
Natasha nudges him with an elbow, "What changed your mind?"
Clint nods toward Maria, signing with his hand at his side, a subconscious action, "They need help. I just watched an entire city block blow up on the tv. Then I saw my son. Figured I better get off my ass and help him out."
"Laura sent you."
"Protecting my family is my job."
Natasha can practically feel Clint's dig, clearing her throat and wishing he'd stop staring.
Maria acknowledges her diagram, "Rogers sent word; HYDRA plans on releasing a weapon- a bomb using some of Linda's DNA. He needs backup before these bombs are set off."
Clint steps forward to volunteer, "No idea where I'm going?"
"I can take you and Natasha there,' Riley continues before her mother can protest, 'I know that base, I've been in and out a million times."
Maria looks at Riley and sighs, letting her daughter breach her thoughts;
I don't want to lose you again...
Riley smiles, "Garrett will protect me."
Maria nods, "Garrett? This is your last chance."
"Yes ma'am."
"Romanoff and Barton? You need suits. As long as Natasha doesn't mind wearing one of Riley's?"
Natasha addresses Riley, "As long as she's okay with that."
Riley nods, a subtle smirk she can't wipe away, "Teal might not be your color."
"Try a red one," Nick Fury steps out from his corner.
Garrett takes a knee as if he's addressing the almighty and nearly loses his footing in the process.
Clint slaps at his shoulder, "What are you doing?! What's wrong with you?"
"It's Ex-Director Fury! He's a retired legend, Pops! Come on, he gave Natasha permission to get all us metas a home-."
"What about what I did for you?! He's my ex-boss so will you get up! You're embarrassing me."
Natasha grins and Fury shakes his head disappointedly, "You're lucky I held onto it."
"It's good to see you."
He ignores her smile and rotates with a flourish upon handing her a large box, "Make no mistake Agent Romanoff, We'll be discussing your disappearance."
Clint scratches his head, timidly asking a question, "You wouldn't happen to have an extra one of my bows somewhere-."
"Check the box Barton. I'm always five steps ahead of you all," Fury's remarks are borderline stalker, mysteriously disappearing just as quickly as he came in.
Riley pivots, caught by Garrett, "I need to suit up."
He's proud of his girlfriend, "Yeah you do!"
