chapter 3
[I do not own one piece. If I did Luffy would have a harem and a bigger crew. Oh, and those who trash-talked me on my grammar, you do not have to read my stuff]
It was a bright sunny day in the east blue as Luffy and Coby sailed to the place where the pirate hunter Zoro was being held. Coby was very much aginst the idea of a vicious bounty hunter joining his new friend's crew, and so after trying [and failing] to convince Luffy to give up he was now very quiet. As Coby was wanting to pass the time he asked: "Hey Luffy, when we first met you said something about Davy's backs, but what is that exactly ?" Luffy looked to the sky as he thought about how to explain this. "Well Coby," Luffy said as he looked his new friend in the eye, "It is really called a Davy back fight. It is basically one giant sports match between pirate crews and the winner gets a crewmember or the cargo from the losing crew." Coby gulped a bit as he said, "Isn't that slavery?"
"No, I make sure that the crew members can leave any time they want," Luffy said with a smile before he got stone-cold serious. "I may be a pirate, but I will never take someone in chains."
"Um ok.' Coby said as he got a little nervous as Luffy turned that serious in such a short time. And with that, all was quiet until they got to the next island.
/shells town/ a little later/
"We are here, shells town!" Luffy said with a grin as he began running to the nearest restaurant, with Coby not far behind.
After getting a bit to eat, Luffy asked Coby "So you ready to join the Marines?" Coby gulped as he said "Y-yeah, but from what I heard the guy in charge is called Captain Morgan." It was at that moment that everyone in the restaurant jumped away from the two newcomers and looked at them in fear.
After walking for a few more seconds, Coby asked: "Hey Luffy, why do you think they got scared when I mentioned the marine captain's name? I mean aren't they the good guys?" Luffy stopped walking, his eyes covered by his hat before replying "Coby, I am a pirate. Am I a bad guy?" Coby looked confused at this before thinking 'I knew Luffy is a good person but... ' his thoughts were interrupted when they reached the main gate of the base.
The pink-haired boy was so happy that he did not see his companion climbing the base walls. "What are you doing, you moron?!" Luffy just ignores Coby's outburst and said "Now then, where is this demon?" Coby was climbing the wall to join Luffy. He would not be out in the courtyard alone. Luffy said, "Then who is that?" as Coby reached the top of the wall and froze. There on a wooden cross was the famed bounty hunting demon, Zoro. Luffy just smiled and said, "Hey if we can get those ropes off him he can just walk away." The pink-haired boy just yelled at Luffy saying things like: "He will just kill us!" and "The marines will be mad at you!" Those words were silenced as before he could start to yell again, Coby heard wood on the metal wall. Their two's heads turned to the left, and they saw a girl with brown hair in two pigtails climbing up and over the wall of the marine fort.
As the girl made her way to the cross, the so-called demon asked "What are you doing kid?" The girl smiled as she brought out some food. "Here, you have not been able to eat in so long, so I made you some rice balls." The swordsmen's stomach screamed in hunger as he looked at the rice balls. As he was about to say something, the iron door opened to reveal a skinny teen in a purple suit and two marine guards. "Why Zoro, you know this is a branch of the deal," said the suit in a smug tone before looking at the food the girl had brought, and grabbed it (to the girl's protest.) Before spitting it out, after having a bit, and while saying "Too sweet." The girl broke down to tears as Zoro glared at the man. As this was going on, Coby looked horrified as Luffy just stared hatefully at the smug brat. The suit then told his marine bodyguard to throw the little girl over the wall. In a flash, Luffy stretched out and grabbed the girl be for she could hit the ground. "Thank you m-mister." the girl said in shock that she was ok.
/back in the base courtyard/
'Ha ha ha, you are just dead set on living, aren't you?" the brat laughed out. The green-haired swordsman glared at the brat as he walked off. Luffy was there staring at him before asking "So, are you really a bad guy?" Zoro scoffed at Luffy and said, "Mind your own dame business." Luffy just looked at him one last time before turning around and started to walk away. "Hey, wait!" Zoro yelled, "Hand me that, will you?" as he gestured to the now destroyed rice ball. Without another word, Luffy tossed it into Zoro's mouth with a small grin.
