Chapter 3: Good Times of the Past/Future

World: Destiny Islands

Ven opened his eyes, and found himself on a tropical island beach, he looked around as he felt something strange, almost like he had been here before. "Have I been here before?" Ven asked himself.

He looked ahead of him and then saw, what looked like a younger version of Sora, he was wearing a red pant jumper and a white black jacket. "Sora?" He wondered.

Sora once again fell asleep, while enjoying lying on the beach. He woke up when it was all over. He sat up for a few moments, he had a big yawn. Then he went to lay back down when he saw a beautiful young girl with red hair towering over him. "WHOA!"

He turned to see Kairi, one of his best friends, giggling at him. "Gimme a break, Kairi." Sora retorted. Ven chuckled himself, as he remembered that was Aqua used to wake him up the same way.

"Sora, you lazy bum. I knew I'd find you snoozing out here." Kairi teased.

"No!" Sora objected. "This huge, black THING swallowed me up! I couldn't breathe, I couldn't-ow!"

Sora felt something bonk him on the head. He looked up to see Kairi grinning cheekily, "Are you still dreaming?" She asked.

"It wasn't a dream!" Sora argued, but then began to wonder. "Or was it? I don't know. What was that place? So bizarre..."

"Yeah sure." Kairi folded her arms behind her back and walked forward in front of Sora to look at the ocean. Sora then decided to change the subject. "Say Kairi, what was your hometown like?" Sora asked. "You know, where you grew up."

Kairi didn't look back at him as she answered. "I've told you before. I don't remember."

"Nothing at all?"

"Nothing."

"You ever want to go back?" He asked her. Kairi considered the question and replied, "Well I'm happy here."

"Really..." Sora asked as Ven could tell the two were good friends

"But you know..." She held her gaze to the ocean. "I wouldn't mind going to see it."

"I'd like to see it too!" Sora said excitedly. "Along with any other worlds out there! I wanna see 'em all!"

"Heh, join the club," Ven commented, he couldn't wait to be ready to see other worlds, like Aqua and Terra.

Kairi turned towards him and grinned, "So what are we waiting for?"

"Hey," Someone called, stepping forward he asked. "Aren't you guys forgetting about me?"

Both Sora and Kairi turned around as did Ven to see a younger Riku holding a log for the raft they were building or more like Riku was building. "So, I guess I'm the only one working on the raft." He swung the log to the unsuspecting Sora who fell on the ground trying to catch it and walked towards Kairi and said, "And you're just as lazy as he is." Riku reprimanded in a teasing tone. Kairi giggled. "So you've noticed. Okay, we'll finish together."

"They must be working on that Raft to find Kairi's world, they told us about." Ven guessed.

Riku plopped down next to Sora who was sitting back up. Kairi then pointed her finger out. "I'll race you!"

"Huh?" Sora asked. "What, are you kidding?" Asked Riku, who was starting to get tired from all the hard work. "Ready?" Kairi asked before cupping her hands around her mouth and shouting. "Go!"

With that, they got back on their feet and ran for it. They looked like the boys were evenly matched with Kairi laughing right behind them trying to catch up. Ven just smiled as he saw him, Terra, and Aqua in place of them, but frowned in confusion and asked to himself, "Why do Sora, Riku, and Kairi look younger here though?"

Then he looked around, "Where am I? This isn't the Land of Departure. And when do I feel like I've been here before." He wondered, crossing his arms.

"You on Destiny Islands. The world where they grew up. As for why you are here..." Ven whipped around in surprise to see a blonde girl in a white dress walking towards him and said, "... you're experiencing Sora's memories."

"Sora's? Memories? So, I'm dreaming. But why am I seeing Sora's memories? And who are you?" Asked Ven. "My name is Naminè. I'm a girl with the powers over people's memories and those who are close to them." She answered.

"A witch?" He asked. "You seem surprised?" Naminè giggled.

"Well, no offense, I always thought that witches were evil and nasty but you're nice and cute." Said Ven. Naminè replied, "None taken and..."

She then began to blush and whisper, "...you think I'm cute."

Ven then realized what he said to her and blushed as well and said, "...y-yeah! I-I mean W-who...w-wouldn't call you t-that!? W-why wouldn't someone call y-you that?"

"DiZ did but he had a problem with my kind. Deep down he was a good man and said sorry to me and my friends. As for the why... It's a long story but you and your friends should know their story through these memories." Said Naminè.

"So does that mean Terra and Aqua are having the same dream I am?" Asked Ven.

"Yes but the conversation we're having is just between the two of us because you and Sora have a stronger connection to each other. While Terra and Aqua are seeing two others" said Naminè.

"Huh, What does that mean?" Asked Ven in confusion.

"I'm sorry our time is up. I'll see you soon." Said Naminè. The dream began to change as Naminè still smiling faded away. "Wait! Naminè..!" But it was too late and Ven continued to watch Sora's memories.

Terra opened his eyes and he saw he was on an island and was next to a tree, "Wha? Where am I?"

He turned to see a younger-looking Sora, Riku, and Kairi sitting on a tree with star-shaped fruit. "Sora, Riku, and Kairi? Why do they look younger?" He asked, and turned to the fruit tree, "This must be the star-shaped fruit that Aqua was talking about." he figured as he continued the dream.

"So, Kairi's home is out there somewhere, right?" Sora asked.

"Could be." Riku agreed. "We'll never know by staying here."

"But how far could a raft take us?" Sora asked curiously. Terra smirked, "Now, they think about it." as he leaned against the tree like Riku

"Who knows?" Riku shrugged. "If we have too we'll think of something else."

"Still won't get too far without a Keyblade." Said Terra as he continued looking at the three friends. "So, suppose you get to another world. What would you do there?" Kairi asked.

"Well, I haven't really thought about it," Riku said, he then gave deep thought and said. "It's just..I've always wondered why we're on this Island. If there are any other worlds out there, why did we end up on this one? And suppose they are other worlds...Then ours is just a little piece of something greater. So we could just as easily need up somewhere else, right?"

Sora shrugged and said, "I don't know." Riku nodded and said, "Exactly, That's why we need to go out there and find out. Just sitting here won't change a thing. It's the same old stuff. So let's go."

"You've been thinking a lot lately," Kairi asked. "Haven't you?"

Riku stared intently at the sea for a moment before turning around. "Thanks to you. If you hadn't come here, I would've never thought of any of this. Kairi, thanks."

"You're welcome." Said Kairi. Sora felt a little bit jealous that Riku was getting all the attention but he was his best friend and he didn't have anything better to say. Terra watched as Kairi headed to the rowboats to go home for the night and saw Riku toss Sora something. "Sora," Riku spoke. Sora looked at the star fruit that was thrown into his hands. "You wanted one, didn't you?" Riku asked. "A papou fruit?" Sora asked.

"So that's what it's called," Terra said.

"If two people share one their destinies become intertwined. They'll remain part of each other's lives no matter what. C'mon. I know you want to try it." Riku said with a smirk.

"What are you talking about-" Sora then noticed Riku getting out of sight. Riku began to laugh as Terra laughed along. "Oh, I so wished I had a camera right now." Sora threw the fruit away and ran after Riku as they headed home for the night.

Terra smiled at them, but couldn't help but think "What does this mean." he wondered.

"What your seeing is Riku's memories?" A boy's voice spoke. Terra turned to the voice but gasped in shock as he saw a familiar face, "Ven?!" He asked as he saw who he assumed was Ven, but was wearing slightly different clothes. But then he looked into the boy's eyes and noticed they weren't like Ven's, "Wait, your not Ven. But then who are you, he's long-lost twin brother or something?" He asked the Ven-look-alike.

"I'm Roxas." He answered as Terra felt he heard a mix of both Sora's and Ven's voices from him. "These are memories of Riku's past which are connected to you."

Terra arched a brow in confusion, "Connected to me? How?" Roxas merely said. "These memories, are here to warn you, Terra, to steer you away from a terrible fate."

"Terrible fate? What're you talking about?" Terra asked, in concern.

"Sorry, we're out of time." Roxas said, "Don't worry Terra we'll be seeing each other real soon."

Terra tried to reach for the boy "Wait! Roxas!" He called before everything faded to white.

Aqua woke up and saw she was in a cave filled with little kid drawings, "A cave?" she murmured before she noticed a young Sora entering the secret cave. Aqua then saw a mysterious door without a door handle. Sora was looking at some pictures drawn on rocks. He touched his hand upon one of him and Kairi, remembering when they had drawn it. "Sora and Kairi must come here to draw when they were younger." Aqua guessed

Sora looked like he was thinking about something, then he grabbed a nearby rock and started to draw. When he was finished, he took a step back to admire his handy work. It was himself giving a fruit resembling a star to Kairi. "A star-shaped fruit? Awwwww… So you do want to give one to her. How romantic." Said Aqua. Sora smiled at his work until he felt like he wasn't alone. And it wasn't Aqua he sensed. "Who's there?" he said looking around the cave.

"Huh?" Aqua also sensed something but felt ominous.

"I've come to see the door to this world" A mysterious voice spoke, making Sora and Aqua jump they turned and looked to see a cloaked figure. He wore a brown cloak and rusty red harness with silver diamonds but his face couldn't be seen. "Huh?" asked a confused Sora.

"This world has been connected." The Stanger continued to speak, Aqua didn't understand but something in his voice reminded her of someone else. Sora was still confused and asked, "What are you talking about?" He and Aqua both asked.

"Tied to the darkness, soon to be completely eclipsed." The figure continued, ignoring their questions. "Well, whoever you are? Stop freaking me out like this!" Sora demanded but then wondered if this man was from the main island but probably not since he has never seen him before. "Huh, wait a minute, where did you come from?"

"You do not yet know, what lies beyond the door." The stranger said to Sora. "So, you're from another world?" stated Sora.

"But, how is that possible?" Aqua wondered.

"There is so very much to learn, you understand so little." The figure ignored Sora completely again.

"Oh yeah, well I'll show you, I'm going to get out and learn what's out there." Said a determined Sora.

"A meaningless effort, one who knows nothing can understand nothing." said the cloaked figure stated. Sora turned his attention away from the figure and turned to look at the door but when he moved his head back the figure was gone.

Aqua glared at the cloaked figure the whole time and even where he vanished. They were something about the figure she didn't like, even if he reminded her of something. She gasped as a thought came to her, "Was this the rouge Keyblade Master that the young Keyblade Wielders mentioned?"

"No, just a part of him." Aqua, startled by another voice looked behind her to see what looked like a girl in a black coat with silver details, Aqua could see the girl's chin and mouth but the rest of her face on hidden under the shadows of her hood. "The part responsible for starting for all this."

"What do you mean?" Aqua asked the mysterious girl as she noticed her voice resembled Kairi's, "And who are you?"

The girl seemed to look down, "I-I don't remember." She answered, "I have no memory of who I am or where I came from, all I know is that I'm connected to Sora's Memories which you are seeing."

Aqua was even more confused, "What do you mean? And why show me Sora's memories?"

"Because I want to make up for something I did by saving you from something very terrible." The girl answered, "I hope that the memories you see will change your fate when it comes."

"Fate? What Fate?" Aqua asked before she noticed the cave was turning white.

"I can't keep you here any longer, but don't worry, you'll see me again, Aqua." The mysterious girl said, Aqua shielded her eyes as she was engulfed by the light.

World: Land of Departure

Ven groaned as his alarm went off. He thought about his dream and what Naminè said? How was he connected to Sora? His eyes widened as he remembered, "AHH! The EXAM! I CAN'T MISS THIS!"

He got up, took a quick shower, ate a quick breakfast, and ran up to meet up with others, except the only one there was Riku as he was overseeing the preparations. "AAAHHHHH! EVERYONE OVERSLEPT!" He panicked, as Riku noticed him and rolled his eyes.

Riku walked up to him and patted his shoulder said, "Relax Ven, the Mark of Mastery's been moved to noon since Master Xehanort called and said he was going to be a little late. So everyone decided to get some extra sleep in."

"You mean I could've slept in till nine, this whole time! Ugh!" Ven complained. "Sorry, you were out cold like Sora was when he first started school." Riku teased.

"You mean he slept through classes?" Ven laughed at the thought. "Yes until he found out that you can learn things that interested him like superheroes." Said Riku with a grin.

"Well, since we got time you want to spare?" Ven challenged the young master. Riku grinned and summon his Keyblade and got into his battle stance. "I hoping you'd ask!" Said Riku.

Ven smirked back and summoned his Keyblade and ran at Riku as the two clashed.

Ven fell to the ground for the third time and then groaned as he sat up. "You're really good for someone who had to learn everything on your own. I can see why your master" he admitted.

"Still you put up one good spare. In fairness, only two people have ever beaten me. Sora and another Keyblade Wielder named Roxas." Said Riku as he helped Ven get up on his feet.

"Whose Roxas?" Ven asked as Riku darted his eyes sheepishly, not sure how to explain to Ven that Roxas looked exactly like him.

"Uhh, let's just say he was a pretty tough guy." Riku answered simply, as Ven just shrugged in acceptance, and Riku cleared his throat "Anyway just keep up the good work and you'll be a master in no time flat." he promised.

"Really? Then I'll keep on practicing until I can take you out." Said Ven in excited determination.

"Heh, look forward to it," Riku smirked crossing his arms.

"Good morning, Ven and Riku." They turned to see Terra and Aqua walking towards them. "Morning guys. Hey, where's Sora and Kairi?" asked Ven.

"Sora was still sleeping so Kairi volunteered to wake him up," Aqua answered. Riku smirked while the other three looked at him in confusion, "What is it?" Terra asked.

Instead of answering Riku held up three fingers and counted, "Three, two, one…"

"WHOA! KAIRI! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!" They could all hear Sora's Voice making Ven, Aqua and Terra jump in surprise while Riku just laughed. "That's Kairi's way of waking up that slacker."

The three then started to laugh along with him. Once they stopped Riku walked away, "Well, Master Xehanort should be here by now. I should probably help him and Master Eraqus set up the exam. See ya there." Riku said as he waved to them.

Terra nodded as Riku walked away, "Will do. We'll see you then." Riku then disappeared down the halls, then he turned to his old friends. "Oh yeah, I wanted to tell you guys, I had a strange dream last night." Terra proclaimed as Aqua and Ven were surprised.

"Same here." Said Ven.

"Me too," Aqua added. "All three of us? Well, What was yours about Terra?" Terra thought back to his dream.

"I dreamt I was on this Island where Sora, Riku, and Kairi lived and they were getting ready to sail on their raft to the other worlds, then this boy named Roxas showed up and told me they were Riku's memories trying to save me from a terrible fate?" Terra explained as Ven perked up at the mention of the boy.

"Roxas? Oh yeah, Riku was just telling me about him." Ven noted as Terra looked at him.

"Did he mention that you and Roxas have the same face?" Terra inquired, as both Ven and Aqua were shocked.

"What?!" They exclaimed.

"The same face?! How can that be?!" Ven asked, how could there be someone else who looked exactly like him, but shook his head "Nevermind, what was in your's Aqua?" he asked the young woman.

Aqua, getting over her shock thought for a moment, "In mine, I saw Sora talking to this creepy guy in a robe in a cave, then I met this mysterious girl in a black coat, I couldn't see her face though, she couldn't remember her name but she told me that she was connected to Sora's memories somehow and that the man in the robe was actually a part of that Dark Keyblade Master Sora, Riku and Kairi mentioned yesterday," She described before she remembered something else "Oh yeah, I also saw Sora drawing himself giving Kairi the Star-Shaped Fruit I was talking about last night."

"The Papou Fruit Right?" Asked Ven. Aqua then turned to him and smiled, "That's right, Ven." Then her eyes widened and said, "Wait, don't tell me…"

"Yeah, I had the same dream too." Said Ven. "It's just like yours, looks like some of what Naminé said was true."

"Who's Naminé?" asked Terra. "She was a girl I meet in my dream. I never had seen any girl cuter than her." Ven said, having daydreamy look on his face as Aqua and Terra both smirked, deciding to have some fun.

"Awwwww…Ven's got a crush," Said Aqua with a smile, as she clasped her hands. "Looks like our little bro is finally growing up." Terra teased, ruffing Ven's hair as the boy's eyes widened…

Ven then started stammering and blushing, "What? No, I'm not! And quit treating me like a kid!" He demanded in embarrassment, as Terra and Aqua kept on smirking.

"Really? Then how come you're blushing?" Terra pointed to his redding face. Ven tried to hide his blush, which made both Terra and Aqua laugh at him while he fumed. "Okay, okay moving on, Ven what did this Naminé say to you?" Aqua asked as Ven was thankful they stopped. He told them about Naminé and how she was a witch who can manipulate others' memories and how he and Sora had a special connection between them. "A special connection between you and Sora? What does she mean by that?" Asked Terra.

"Maybe, you are his brothers or cousin. I mean, I did see a lot of you in Sora." Aqua hypothesized.

"Not as much as Roxas, though?" Terra noted as Ven did wonder if he, Sora, and Roxas were brothers or cousins but just shrugged it off.

"Well, I guess there is only one way to find out. Try to get in contact with her again." Ven hazard.

"Why can't I just ask Sora?" Aqua asked.

"If he's anything like him, he may be just as clueless." Terra joked as Ven grumbled and Aqua giggled before she thought of something. "Still why are we seeing memories of their past?" She wondered as the two boys just shrugged.

"Well, till we know more than we better keep this between us. Those three already have to worry about this Organization and that Dark Keyblade Master." Said Terra. Both Aqua and Ven nodded in agreement. They turned to see Sora and Kairi walking their way, or Kairi was as she was dragging Sora across the floor by the hood. "Come on mister grumpy shorts. We don't want to miss the exam." Kairi teased as she pulled the grumpy-looking Sora with his arms crossed.

Terra and Aqua just chuckled at them while Ven remained oblivious. Those two were definitely going to end up together one day. Sora was still blushing because Kairi saw him in his underwear. He turned to see Terra, Aqua, and Ven and stood back up. "Morning guys. Where's Riku?" He asked.

"He's helping the other masters set up the exam." Said Aqua before gesturing them to follow. "Come on, let's get going." And so they all headed out.

"Good Morning, old friend. How was your trip?" Asked Master Eraqus. He and Riku stood by the door as Xehanort came in. "Just fine thank you. Tis a wonderful day for some young blood to take the next step in their journey." the old Keyblade Master replied. Riku just kept his face neutral, he wasn't sure why but there was something about Xehanort and his scent that made him very uneasy, and it didn't help he was wearing the same clothes as Ansem.

Xehanort then noticed the young Keyblade Master and asked, "Oh, I see you have yourself another new pupil. How long has he been training with you."

"Oh, no This is Master Riku. He's actually one of Yen's Sid former apprentices. Even though he's master no more. He gave him and another younger man the Mark of Mastery since they didn't have their own Master to teach them these things. He and his two friends arrived just last night with a mission on their hands and came to us for help." Eraqus explained, placing a hand on Riku's shoulder.

"Well then, I suppose congratulations are in order, Master Riku. But tell What is this mission of yours?" Asked Xehanort, as Riku decided to answer carefully. "Well, Master Xehanort. There is a Dark Keyblade Master on the loose with a group called Organization XIII who are spreading monsters called Heartless and Nobodies and I and my friends are trying to stop him. " He answered, as he felt uncomfortable by the subtle grin on the older master's face but he hid it.

"I see, well then after the Exam l Shall see if I can't uncover something useful for you." Xehanort offered. "So he is one of the three wielders my younger self warned me of. Still, I can make this work to my advantage." Xehanort thought to himself as he looked into Riku's. "The boy has the power to control darkness. It may be locked away but with just the right pressure it shall be freed."

"Come now Master Riku. Tell me more about you and your comrades as we make the preparation for this test." Xehanort asked. They went to work on the Exam with Xehanort grinning all the way there. Riku wasn't sure why but something in his heart told him to be careful around Xehanort.

As you can see I changed the chapter a bit, with Naminé in Ven's dreams, Roxas in Terra's, and of course Xion in Aqua's, if you feel like Lea should be included as well please put in your reviews, this is basically my version of KH III. Hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Be sure to Follow, Fav, and Review.
