Dan's gaze lingers a little too long as he bids farewell to his audience and cohost, staring into Hasan's dark eyes as the two wrap up another episode of Seconds, their new spinoff of Leftovers. He knew that starting this show would only ramp up his crush on the taller man, but he couldn't turn down the opportunity when Ethan pitched him the show.
"Alright," Hasan smiles and slaps his hand down on the table as he pulls himself up.
"Alright," Dan laughs, mimicking Hasan's tone. He wraps up their headphones and begins to shut down the set.
"I'm gonna get out of here man, but hey- isn't there a segment you wanted to pitch to me earlier? Sorry, I uh, forgot about it until just now." Hasan lingers at the door and scratches his head, turning to face Dan.
Dan focuses briefly on Hasan's large hand running through his hair, waiting until Hasan shakes it out and replaces his cap before saying, "Yeah, I uh- I haven't finished writing it, so maybe I can just show you, you know, next time you're here, or if you wanna just- we can just do it when we film it." Dan curses himself for sounding so dumbstruck, but he finds it difficult to form sentences when Hasan's stretching arms are pulling his shirt up and exposing a strip of his tanned belly and a thin dark trail of hair disappearing beneath his sweatpants.
"Okay," Hasan says, not breaking eye contact with Dan. "I'll see you then, then." He scrunches his face and gives a quick laugh at his own words, shooting a lasting smile at Dan before turning around.
Dan lets out his breath and gives his shoulders a quick shake as Hasan walks out the door. He ponders his career choices that have led to this moment; he never thought he would be in the same room as someone like Hasan, much less about to film a segment like the one he was going to propose to Hasan.
If Dan wants to be prepared for this segment, he'd better get writing.
