James Potter loved flying. It was his escape. He would stay for hours after Quidditch practice to just fly and be alone. That is what he was doing now. Only he wasn't alone, but he didn't know that.

Lily Evans was a stargazer. She loved to lie on the grassy banks of the black lake even before the sun set, just to see the colors of the sky change. She loved all types of weather: sunny days, rainy days, snowy days, everything amazed her. But what she really loved was the peace and quiet she got. It was her escape from giggling girls, stupid boys, and obnoxious owls. What Lily Evans didn't know, was that she wasn't alone.

James sighed as he hovered 50 feet above ground. This was what he loved best. James hated having to walk around the school. He thought it would be much easier to fly everywhere he went. He decided to fly over the black lake. He loved flying so low that his toes skimmed through the water. James dropped until he was about 3 feet above the ground and kicked off his and tore his socks off. He then glided over towards the lake.

Lily sighed deeply. God, she wished she could stay where she was. Unfortunately, life doesn't work that way. Time moves on and forever will. Lily looked at her watch. She sighed again. 11:02. Way past curfew. "I better head up to the castle" she thought. Lily sat up and picked up her shoes and socks. She hated wearing them and wished she could go bare-foot all the time. Lily stood up with another sigh and started back to the castle.

James soared through the sky. To him it was the best feeling in the whole world. He came to a sudden stop when he saw something moving on the ground. If James was sensible, he would have kept flying. Well, James wasn't very sensible and he was curious to know who was roaming the grounds at such a late hour. He dropped a few feet.

Lily had that creeping sensation that she was being followed. She quickened her pace and clenched her wand in her hand tighter.

James quickly cast an invisibility charm on himself and his broom and followed closely behind the person. Whoever it was knew someone was there, he or she had quickened their pace.

Lily's hand was shaking with fear. She hated that feeling. She thought she heard someone say something. She jumped horribly and gold sparks shot off from her wand. "I'm just being paranoid," she told her self.

James saw the person's wand emit gold sparks that showed him exactly who he was following. He whispered her name.

"Lily." Lily was totally freaked out now. There was definitely someone with her and they knew her name! She started running for the castle doors. They were still pretty far away.

James watched Lily go. "I must have really spooked her." He took the invisibility charms off and flew above the running girl. James landed about 5 feet in front of her. "Lily, beautiful, calm down! It's just me. James." Lily looked so relieved.

"God Potter! Don't do that to me! You nearly gave me a heart attack!"
