Silent, tiny tears slid down the emotionless princess's face. She was broken. Broken so that her inner "software" had crashed, leaving a blue screen, with no feeling.

She couldn't believe it. Again, she had been shut out by her native lands, by her friends, by her mother. She only wanted peace for them. But it seems that doing the right thing again lead to harsh consequences. She let the tears fall, but dared not speak another word.

The man flying the aircraft, the famous billionaire by day, shadowy crime fighter by night, was deep in thought.

The catch was, there would be one consequence on him, one casualty to save dozens others.

He didn't expect it to be this.

His heart was finding new ways to hurt at that moment, as he kept any tears he might have cried in check.

It was her...

His light was out, no longer shining brightly. Instead, she looked as melancholy as he would usually be.

And he hated it.

She had spunk. she could hold her own, but also knew when to be happy. A fierce warrior, an even more awesome person. He couldn't believe that was gone from her now. For now, he hoped.

He glanced at her.

No sorrow was worn on her face, but he saw her tears. He felt his heart drop, like a sinking stone in the ocean. He sighed.

He began to think about where he would be taking her: to his manor to be in solace, or to her room, to let her calculate the situation.

As he was deep in thought, he herd a voice.

"I need a hug."

He tuned, and to his surprise, she was staring straight at him. She was still stoned faced, trying her best to hide her emotions.

He sighed, glanced down, in front of him, then at her.

He looked down again, and silently grunted, flipping on auto-pilot.

She was curious, as he leaned back, unbuckling himself. He patted his thigh, telling her to proceed.

She unbuckled herself, and stood, walking over to him. he nodded, staying silent, sitting back up. She could feel a slight flutter in her heart, but it was quickly replaced with a depression.

She sat down in his lap, and leaned back into him.

He slowly placed his arms around her, leaning his head near her shoulder. She could feel a small sigh escape from him, hearing regret, and empathy.

She let her head rest on his shoulder, feeling her wall of emotions shake. She clenched her face, choosing to not emote. Although, new drops of water fell from her face.

He closed his eyes, letting the moment happen.

After a while however, he noticed how heavy she had gotten. He glanced at her, and noticed she had fallen asleep. He almost wanted to smile at that.

He buckled them both up, and took hold of the wheel again. The sunset continued.

...

Superman was in the hanger of the justice league headquarters. He was taking a little walk, trying to take a breather from the hectic life that was Kal and Clark. As he was walking, he noticed a certain aircraft coming in for a landing. He was a little surprised and curious that the Batman had taken a detour to the League. He walked up to the ship as it landed, and powered down.

The ramp opened, and superman smiled. He had not yet noticed that Batman was carrying Wonder Woman in his arms.

"I didn't expect to see you back so-"

Batman shushed at him, noting the sleeping Amazon in his arms. Superman finally noticed, and smirked.

"Care to share, Bruce?"

Bruce rolled his eyes, although they were hidden by his cowl.

"No Clark."

He stepped off the ramp, and it closed as he continued to her dorm, superman following.

"What happened?"

Batman didn't answer. He was still feeling the guilt, and didn't really want to elaborate. But..

"She's been shunned away again."

Clark suddenly grew silent. He knew what that meant.

"Oh..."

Superman looked to his friend. Even though he looked normal, Clark saw the twitch of pain and guilt Bruce held. Clark frowned, but said no more. He had known about his mission, and now he knew it ended badly.

Finally, they had reached Diana's dorm. Superman opened the door for him, and Batman walked inside.

The room was very clean and neat, but still very dark.

Batman laid her down on her bed. She shifted comfortably, and settled onto the comfy surface. He pulled the covers over her, and stared.

There was a huge weight on his shoulders, and he could not bare it. He sighed sadly, and ran his gloved hand through her long, raven hair.

This beautiful creature had been wounded yet again, and he wished he had not held the weapon which had injured. But he understood, everything comes with a price. There will always be casualties. That he knew all too well.

He glanced in front of him, making sure that Clark was turned away. He bent down, and kissed her forehead with the upmost care. He whispered to her.

"I'm sorry."

He stood, and walked out of the room. Outside the dorm, Superman stood with a smug smile on his face.

Batman glared at him.

"Don't. Don't even."

Clark rolled his eyes, smiling.

"I didn't see anything."

Batman gave a silent huff, and started down the hallway, superman walking alongside.

"Come on Bruce. Just say something to her, anything! You know she loves you, and quite frankly, I, and a lot of people who have banking on you two, are getting a little pissed off that you've been avoidant!"

Batman sighed heavily, mostly of annoyance.

"Clark, we've talked about this, and you know-"

Clark interrupted, and walked to stand in front of him.

"I don't care about the "boundaries" you've set yourself up with, you need love in your life man!" Clark crossed his arms, and raised a brow.

"Do I need to bring up the pig incident?"

Bruce gasped, and got angry quite quickly.

He spoke with his very low, piercing voice.

"Who told you that?!"

Superman put his hands up.

"Word gets around Batman."

Bruce said nothing, he just gave him the infamous bat glare.

Clark gulped. "Forget what I said."

And with that, they walked in silence back to the hanger.

When they got back, Clark stayed silent as the ramp of the aircraft opened for batman. Bruce walked halfway up the ramp, when Clark spoke up.

"Bruce."

He turned to look at Superman. Clark looked at him with serenity.

Batman sighed, and looked down.

"Maybe Clark, maybe..."

This made the Kryptonian smile, and he waved to his friend.

"Be here tomorrow?"

Superman swore he could see a small smile tugging at the dark night's lips.

"...Yeah."

He watched the bat fly away, and he smiled. It was rare to see his brooding friend lighten up, even a little bit.

...

Batman arrived from the teleporter, carrying a bouquet of white, fluffy roses behind his back. It was the least he could do, after all. He walked down the way, trying to look inconspicuous. Although, yes, there where a few who noticed him going along with flowers tucked behind his cape. It caused quite a stir, and gossip soon started to pile.

The cafeteria was unusually busy this particular morning, with many of the tables full. Batman made his way to the drink dispensers, looking to get hot chocolate for Diana, dark coffee for himself. Before he could reach them, a certain scarlet speedster ran in front of him, stopping batman in his tracks.

"Hey Bats! I haven't seen you around too much lately. Where have you been?"

Batman glared at the Flash.

"Business in Gotham."

He continued on his way, and Wally noticed the flowers he had stored in his cape. He smiled, and continued to walk with the dark knight.

"You got somethin' special with the lady of wonder today?" He teased.

Batman didn't reply for a minute, grabbing a cup and filling it with cocoa. Finally, he spoke.

"She went through some hard times yesterday."

Wally West noticed Batman fill a cup with cocoa, then start to fill another with pure black coffee.

"Oh, really? Well, I guess that makes sense." Flash pondered, and held his chin.

"She hasn't come out of her dorm at all today."

Bruce let out an inaudible sigh, and turned, with drinks in hand.

"It really messed her up."

"What?"

Flash herd Batman mumble something under his breath, but he wasn't sure what he implied. Bruce decided not to speak further, and walked away, leaving Flash confused, and curious.

...

He now stood in front of her door, feeling a strange sense of nervousness wash through his senses. He managed to keep it down, and composed himself. He knocked softly on her door, and took a step back, taking a big breath.

Diana opened the door to see batman holding two cups, whom immediately took in her appearance. She had black lines under her eyes, tear-stained cheeks, and her long raven hair was frizzled and matted together. It looked like she had spent the morning crying once more. Bruce felt his heart become heavy, yet he couldn't help but stand in awe at her beauty, even through pain. She was still wearing her armor, and her voice was groggy.

Diana was a little surprised, and she blinked.

"Bruce."

"Hi, Diana. How are you feeling?"

Wonder Women gave a small smile, although the emotion was not in it.

"A little better, i guess. I'm still feeling blue to be honest."

"Well, I thought a nice hot cup of cocoa would help you feel better." He offered the cup to her, and she slowly took the cup with two hands. She held it close to her, and deeply inhaled the scent.

"It has whipped cream in it, just how you like it." Batman added, watching her take a sip.

She gave a happy sigh, and gave a genuine smile. "Thank you." They both starred at each other for a second, before looking away from each other, bashful.

Bruce gestured his hand."Um, can I-"

Wonder Woman was quick to catch on. "Y-yeah, of course, come in."

Diana let Bruce in, and closed the door behind her.

"Oh, thanks for carrying me to my bed by the way."

Batman turned, and stared at her. Diana could swear she saw the hint of a blush on the bat's face.

"Yeah..."

Bruce was feeling guilty again. He had to get this off his chest. But he also felt... nervous.

He didn't know why he was nervous. He had no reason to be. But here he was, the Dark Knight, afraid to talk to the one whom he cares for the most.

He set down his drink, and inhaled.

"Um, Diana?"

She turned curious, as she had noticed the hesitation in his voice. "What is it?"

"I just want to say... I'm.."

He inhaled and exhaled heavily, his arms fading into his cape. He looked down.

"I..."

He exhaled again. This wasn't the proper way.

He took off his cowl, and looked up to her with the utmost serenity.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made that trip to Themyscira. Your people would have been able to deal with Circe on their own. And because of my presence... You have to suffer for it. You have to be taken away again from the ones you love. It's not fair on you. For what it's worth, I'm sorry that I had caused you pain."

Diana was not expecting that. Bruce Wayne, the Batman himself, just gave her the most sincere apology she had ever heard. He peeked out of shell, to rectify a wrong that wasn't even his. She was in shock for a second, before a warm smile came to her face.

"Bruce,"

She set down her cup on her dresser, and walked over to him.

"You don't have to apologize."

"What?" Batman was taken aback by her statement. He had expected her to take the apology with a heavy dose of salt.

Diana held her hands behind her back.

"You did the right thing, to come. You are the only person to be able to make a deal with Circe like that. If my people and my gods can't see that men can be good-natured, than so be it. I'll still see you for who you are."

She took a risk, and reached out to hold his hand.

"You are my hero, inside and out."

Bruce was wide eyed, both of her words, and of how she took the initiative to hold his hand. He looked down at their hands. He gulped, and put his other hand over hers. He looked at her in the eyes, with a small smile.

"...Thank you. I kinda needed that."

Diana smiled softly, and she blushed a soft pink at his touch. It didn't last long however, as Bruce took his hands away, and back to his side.

He turned from her, but Diana kept smiling. It was easy to embarrass the Bat, at least for her. She went to sit down on the edge of her bed.

"I have a feeling you're here for more than a drink and an apology." She teased, making Bruce spin around to her.

He immediately remembered the flowers on his back. He reached behind his cape, and pulled out the white roses, and presented them to her.

She gasped, slowly taking taking the flowers from him.

"Oh Bruce, they're beautiful."

Bruce rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed.

He started to stare at her, admiring the way she took in the scent of the roses. He found himself walking over to her, and sitting down next to her. Diana didn't take notice until she felt his presence. Diana's eyes wandered to his. They stared at each other, but this time, they didn't their eyes off of the other.

Diana slowly placed the flowers next to her, and found herself leaning towards him. Bruce also felt himself leaning to her. They inched closer and closer, until their lips met in a soft, gentle kiss.

Bruce wanted to be gentle, he wanted her to be comfortable. And Diana could not get enough of it. She mentally swooned at this fact. This was the Bruce she knew. Caring, compassionate, in his own little ways. Gestures so small, it would take a keen eye to notice. But right now, he was showing it all. He loved her, that was no secret. But for Bruce, this was a big step. One he was hesitant to make.

After a while, he departed from their sweet kiss, keep his face inches away from her.

He was blushing.

"Sorry." Bruce gave an innocent smile, and started to pull away from her. But before he could, Diana put a hand on his upper chest. She wore a flirtatious smile.

"Don't be."

Bruce blushed even more, remembering the restaurant incident.

"So, um, can I-"

His sentence was silenced by another kiss from Diana, and he accepted it gratefully. They held each other in a warm embrace. They both held back fire, only wanting this sweet romantic passion for the moment.

They finally broke once more, noses touching.

"You know I love you." Diana stated, with a dreamy look in her eyes, and in her voice.

"I know. I should show it more often."

She smiled at his response, and pulled away.

"As much as I love your candy coated kisses, I got to have something to eat."

A certain kryptonian briskly walked away from the door, hearing all he needed to.

Both stood, and Bruce grabbed her hand. "You should probably brush your hair first."

Diana looked behind him, to her reflection in a mirror that was stationed in the room. She blushed pink.

She gave a giggle. "Yeah. I should."

Batman stood beside her dresser with the drinks on it, watching the princess grab a brush, and brush her hair in the mirror.

He pulled his cowl on again, and continued to observe her. Suddenly, he wanted to hug her. He stood in place, trying to hold back. But, to no avail.

Just as Diana had finished brushing her hair, Batman wrapped his arms around her from behind. Wonder Woman was caught off-guard, which made her blush red.

"Bruce!"

He sighed, his breath on her back making her shiver.

"Sorry. A-again. I.. I just need this right now..."

The shock wore off, ans she smiled softly.

"Bruce.."

She sunk into him, looking up to his face.

"Don't be scared. It's okay for you to express your feelings for me. Just as I express my feelings for you."

She softly kissed his lips, and broke from the embrace. He wore a genuine smile.

"Now seriously, I want a cinnamon roll before they run out."

Batman walked over to their drinks, and handed Diana hers.

"Let's get going then, princess."

He handed her her drink, and they both heading to the door, hand in hand.

"How much do you think they're going to freak out?"

He gave a small chuckle to her question. "All of them. And a lot of people will be earning some cash today."

And as Batman predicted, lots of minds, and bets, broke that day. But, he was ready to face it. With his god-like being beside him, what could go wrong?
