Disclaimer: I have no witty remarks for this one… I don't own Gundam SEED (Destiny) or 'The Crimson' by Atreyu.
A/N: This is based off three lines of The Crimson. They will appear in italics through the piece.
Set: Right after Neo remembers he's Mwu, and the last paragraph is after the end of the war.
He was a murderer. He had killed so many people in the past two years, not out of necessity but out of fun. He had no right to taint someone as pure as her. She may have sentenced many people to death, but it had been out of necessity. Kill or be killed. Someone as pure as she should not be living this life, but maybe, maybe it was a good thing she was so untainted. If the captain of the Archangel had been any other, he would have been left to die, or killed, or tortured for information. That is, assuming the ship would have made it as far as it had. He didn't deserve someone like her. He was a cold-blooded killer where she was an angel. He could not atone for the crimes he had committed. His soul would be forever tainted with the blood of every human he had killed. It hadn't bothered him at the time. No. Back then he had been a loyal soldier, doing what he was ordered without question. He hadn't truly been an individual. He had no conscience. He had been the image of evil.
Will you still hold me when you see what I have done?
Why had he been given a second chance at life he was to use it to ruin so many things? What kind of cruel joke had it been to erase all his memories of her? How could he have forgotten such beauty? He had never met anybody as kind or forgiving as her. What had he done to deserve it? Any of it? The cruelty he had received, or given? A second chance at life? A beautiful woman who had loved him dearly? Had. Did she- could she truly love him after what he had done? He had not only hurt her by making him think he was dead, but he had also opened those wounds when he came back to her alive. And he could only imagine how painful it would have been for her, to see him, have him so close, yet not be able to hold him. What kind of torture had he put her through? No. She couldn't possibly forgive him; she couldn't possibly love him after what he had done to her. Could she?
Will you still kiss me the same,
He would be tainting her soul if he stayed by her. He would be sharing his guilt, his regrets with her. She didn't need that. She had so much to worry about, to grieve about, to regret as it was without him sharing his burden. He could never do it. Every time he would touch her he would spread his darkness with his fingers, when he would look at her he would extend his vile existence with his eyes, when he would smell her he would absorb her purity only to replace it with evil, when he would kiss her… When he would kiss her he would spread the blood he had shed onto her lips.
When you taste my victim's blood?
He had thought so little of himself then. He now knew that she would always love him, care for him, no matter what. She had shown him that she would share her purity to cleanse his soul. In away, she gave him a new life. New hopes, new dreams. Maybe he wasn't the one who could make the impossible possible. No. That was her.
A/N:Short and sweet... well maybe not all that sweet...
I have had so many one-shot ideas floating around in my head for the past few weeks, and absolutely no time to write any of them. I should be doing my science homework right now, but if I hadn't written this, I would have gone insane.
