Everybody had been moved to Crusch's mansion later that night and into the morning once all of the injured and dead people were moved onto carriages.

Apparently, there was a single traveler who came upon the tragic scene, and they rode to the capital as fast as they could, where they reported the incident to the knights.

Back in Roswaal's domain, Subaru had been talking to Emilia, and she didn't recognize Rem's name. When this happened, Subaru knew that something was wrong, so he told everybody that something must have happened to the transport.

Everybody that fought against Betelgeuse then went back and traveled the road that you had taken, and they reached the scene just after the healers did.

And that's what Subaru told you as the two of you were sitting by Rem, who was lying comatose on one of the many beds in Crusch's mansion.

"Now that I think about it, I've never seen Rem sleeping before. She always woke up before me, and..." Subaru chuckled with remorse. "Before I realized it, she was already in my room, waiting for me to wake up."

He sighed sadly, and cupped one of his hands around Rem's cheek. "I'm sorry, Rem."

You balled your fists up. How could you not feel terrible when Subaru was acting like this? You were there at the incident, but you couldn't help Rem. You couldn't help anybody. "I'm sorry..."

Subaru looked at you. "There's not much that you could have done, so..."

You shook your head. "I'm going to get stronger. When something like this happens again, I'm going to protect everyone. I'm not going to lose people when I'm right there."

"Me too. (Y/N), do you mind if I train with you? Julius told me that you're supposed to be training every day, so I want to do it with you. I don't want to be weak anymore, so that would be a good start."

You nod your head. "Sure," is all you said.

Suddenly, there were bright blue dots in the air. You were caught off guard, but the lights weren't hostile.

Instead, they came together to form Puck. "Good morning!" he greeted.

"Oh, it's just you, Puck." Subaru said.

Puck dramatically gasped. "Just me?! I don't think that was necessary. You're so mean!"

Subaru ignored the dramatics, and you just sighed. "So, what brings you over here?" Subaru asked the spirit.

Puck crossed his arms playfully. "I have a connection to this girl too, remember?"

At that word, your eye twitched. 'Remember'. That was pretty ironic if you do say so yourself.

Puck continued his dialogue. "So what's wrong with me dropping by to check on her?"

For a moment, hope flashed through Subaru's eyes. "Puck, would you be able to-"

"Sorry, but not even my power can wake her up from the sleep that she's in." Puck interrupted Subaru, and at this point, you were just listening. Puck just being himself was able to lighten your mood, so you just enjoyed his presence.

When Subaru looked downcast at the answer, Puck said, "Well, I can at least tell you about Gluttony."

At this point, you sighed. There wasn't much that Puck could tell you, so he was probably going to say stuff that you already knew. "The Authority of Gluttony is pretty much a power for eating. He could eat someone's name and make everyone forget about them, or make that person lose their memories by eating them. If both the name and memories are eaten, there will be nothing left except for an empty shell." Puck looked at Rem. "That is what happened to this girl."

After hearing this explanation, there was one more thing that you felt like you should add. It was one of the very few things that were spoiled for you. "And there are three of them."

"What?" Subaru asked.

"There are three Archbishops of Gluttony. I don't know if you knew that, Puck, so I just wanted to let you guys know."

Subaru looked down in thought, but Puck had something that he wanted to say. "I'm sorry for saying something so out of place, but I'm counting on the two of you to protect Lia." With his message delivered, Puck dematerialized.

"Well, that's obvious," mumbled Subaru. Turning to you, he asked, "Do you know how to get Rem back to normal? There has to be a way.."

You scrunched your face. "Well, I'm not too sure of this, but I think that we need to kill all of the Gluttony trio. That's just a guess, so you should try to find someone else who knows more about them and ask that person, because there is no guarantee that I'm right."

Subaru looked down in thought once more, and you brought up an idea that you had come up with. "Subaru, I was thinking that we could maybe create some organization or task force who's sole purpose is to destroy the Witch Cult."

Subaru looked back up at you. "Are you serious?"

You nodded your head. "I'm dead serious. I don't think that I've told you yet, but it seems like I'm immune to Authorities, so I want to fight the Witch Cult. Of course, I can't do that alone, so I want to recruit some other people to help with that."

Subaru processed this information. "Actually, I probably also have some level of immunity or something, because I could see Betelgeuse's Unseen Hand, and I can also remember Rem, so I probably have something similar to what you have."

You cradled your chin in your hands. "So, what do you think? When things calm down, do you want to start some organization or something?" You were pretty tired, and it was hard to stay awake, even if you were experiencing all of these feelings at once.

In contrast, Subaru's eyes were blazing with hatred, the only evidence of fatigue being the rings that were under them. "Of course! I'm going to kill all of them, and Gluttony's the first on my list!"

You don't know if Subaru's increased show of hate towards the Witch Cult would be a good thing or a bad thing, but you do know that as long as the Cult is destroyed, this world will become a lot safer.

Subaru clutched his hands. "We've spent enough time in here. Let's see if we can find everyone else."

You take a last look at Rem, and follow Subaru out of the door.

Looking down the hallway, you see another person, and you feel guilty again.

"So this is where you were. How is she?" asked Crusch, who was no longer dressed in her business attire.

"She's as fine as she could be in that state. What about you? This can't be easy to handle," you address her.

"Well..." she started, "It is what is is, right...um..."

"(Y/N)." She forgot your name, so you reminded her with a whisper.

"Oh yeah.. I have been told that I owe you and..."

"Subaru."

"...I owe you and Subaru quite a lot. Thank you."

You shook your head slowly. She shouldn't be thanking you. You should be asking for her to forgive you for your mistake.

No matter what people told you, you still felt responsible for what happened. You knew that this was probably an event that you couldn't have avoided, and it wasn't only your fault, but you still felt guilty.

While you were thinking remorseful thoughts, Subaru told her, "Well, first off, I don't deserve your thanks. I know that I'm weak and pathetic, so save your praise for someone who deserves it." Even though he was saying these derogatory things about himself, Subaru didn't show any anger on his face. In fact, he looked calm.

"That's not true!" Crusch interrupted. "I think that the both of you made her quite happy."

Subaru lowered his head again, and you bit your lip to keep yourself from making an even more depressed facial expression.

"I'm sorry... that was crossing a line. I've made you upset, haven't I?" Crusch regretted her words, but you waved her off.

"It's fine. Now, there's a reason that you were looking for us, right?" you asked.

Crusch meekly nodded her head. "Yes. Everybody has gathered in the lounge to discuss things."

"Perfect," you said, trying to sound more energetic. "Let's get going then!"

As you followed Crusch through the hallways, you felt the need to comfort her. "Hey, Crusch, I just wanted to let you know that you don't need to worry too hard about us. You have a lot to remember, so don't let yourself get flustered over everything."

She turned around, and nodded her head. "...Thank you."

After a silent minute, the three of you reached the lounge room. When you walked in, Felix exclaimed, "I'm sorry for making you deliver that message, Crusch-sama!"

He then looked at you. "(Y/N)-kyun, I would also like to talk to you and Subaru-kyun." He was talking like he normally did, but you knew that his inner mind must be in a wreck right now.

You follow Crusch to the table where everybody was sitting, and sit down in an oddly comfortable chair. This may be a world that was less developed than yours, but comfort was one thing that was not lost.

When the three of you sat down, Crusch began by telling Felix, "Just so you know, I did not mind sending that message. You did not inconvenience me, Felix-san."

Felix cheerfully replied, "It's just Felix. We've known each other for ages, so it makes me sad when you talk like you don't know me!"

Crusch looked like she regretted her words. "I am sorry. I know that it won't be like before, but I will try my best, Felix."

At this point, Subaru was whispering to Emilia, who was sitting beside him. You caught a few words, and you got the gist of their conversation. Emilia was worried about Subaru, and he was trying to let her know that he's better now.

You began to feel ignored, which was awkward. You cleared your throat, and the room went silent.

Whoops. Maybe that was too loud...

"Oh yeah, there was something that I wanted to say to you, (Y/N)-kyun," Felix said. In a much more professional voice, he bowed his head slightly and asked, "Cyaan you please forgive me for what I said to you last night? I was angry, so I directed my anger towards you. I am sorry."

You nodded your head while keeping your lips in a line, neither smiling or frowning. "I forgive you, Felix. I get why you said that, so I won't hold anything against you for it."

Felix looked happy, and you finally cracked a small smile.

At the end of the table, Wilhelm took control of the conversation. "Now that everybody has settled down, let us talk."

You were pretty sure that they were about to bring something up about the alliance, but you let Felix talk first because taking the lead based on an assumption based on your hazy memory about a specific scene that took place in the first season was probably not the best idea. Of course, you also had a brain, so talking about that alliance would make sense, but once again, you didn't want to start talking about something based on an assumption.

Felix didn't start with conversation about the alliance, but you were sure that it would come up later. Even if it doesn't, that's fine. You wanted to keep the alliance intact, and not discussing its terms would imply that it is still in effect.

"Let's styart by reviewing where we currently stand. By the time that the healers arrived, the only people who were present at the scene were casualties and..."

"Those in situations similar to mine," Crusch finished.

"And don't forget about me." Everyone turned to you, and you regretted saying those words. "Sorry..." you mumbled.

Felix continued his report. "The capital has also had many cases of memory loss that no healer could fix. They've named this unexplained malady the "Sleeping Beauty Disease", but now..."

Wilhelm finished the sentence. "It should be considered the work of the Witch Cult."

What really got your attention was the name of this 'disease'.

Is this name a coincidence? I think not! It might be a reference made by someone else who came from another world.

Just like the situation involving the Krusty Krab, there was a possibility that there were more people that came from your world, or one similar to it.

Subaru nodded his head to Wilhelm's comment while you were thinking about the reference. "From what I've heard, the Archbishop of Gluttony can eat people's names and memories."

This comment led to Felix finally looking downcast. "We worked syo hard to defeat Sloth, but now thyere's more Archbishops...? This really sucks. Of course, with Emilia-sama participating in the Royal Selection, we knew the Witch Cult would get involved."

When Subaru heard that, he gritted his teeth, and Emilia lowered her head. "Maybe... It really is my fault..."

Before Felix could say anything else, you decided to butt in. "No. It's not your fault." Emilia, along with everyone else turned their head to you again. "Don't beat yourself up about this. You can't blame yourself for the actions of those deranged maniacs." Seeing her struggle with guilt struck a chord with you, so you came to Emilia's defense. You wanted to help her, just like you were helped when you were feeling overwhelmingly guilty the night before.

At the same time, Subaru pulled out a Gospel, which you assumed was pulled from Betelgeuse's dead body. He slammed it on the table, and shouted, "(Y/N)'s right! And hurting your allies with misdirected blame isn't going to help!"

Before Felix could make another comment, Crusch interrupted him. "Felix. I cannot ignore what you said. They are correct, so apologize."

Felix's body sagged like a kid who just got yelled at by someone. "Yes, Crusch-sama." He looked Emilia in the eyes and told her, "Emilia-sama, I apologize."

She nodded her head. "You are forgiven, Felix-san." Subaru put the Gospel away, and you planned on talking to him about it later.

After Emilia forgave him, Felix spoke once again. "About that alliance that we made..."

Hearing this, you decided that this was the time to come in the conversation. "Yeah, about that, I would like to keep it in effect."

Felix looked troubled, but other people agreed with you. The first to speak was Wilhelm. "I agree. With regard to this 'Gluttony', the one who attacked Crusch-sama and (Y/N)-dono, we may be given a chance at revenge."

"Actually, I had an idea about that," you state. "I was thinking that we could form an organization of sorts that is dedicated to destroying the Witch Cult."

"Hold up," Felix exclaimed while he waved his hands in the air. "Nyai was actually going to suggest the opposite. Alliances are supposed to benefit both sides. Can you promise that Crusch-sama won't be hurt again if we go along with nyour plan?"

You shook your head. "No. But would you rather have her stay like she is, or would you rather help us fight the people responsible for this and try to restore her memories?"

"We don't have to fight the Witch Cult! We don't need to put Crusch-sama in any more danger! I know that I can fix her! With my magic, I'm sure that I can-"

Subaru interrupted him. "I don't know if this is me being a hypocrite, but I think that you have to realize your limits and accept reality. Even with your magic, you can't regain her memories. So the obvious thing to do is to find the person responsible for this and either get them to give her memories back or kill them and get her memories back that way."

"But there are three Archbishops of Gluttony, so I don't know how that would affect that," you added just for the record.

Crusch closed her eyes in thought. When she reopened them, she had everybody's attention. "Right now, there is simply too much that I can't remember. I can't remember a single detail about who I used to be, and I am sure that all of you are puzzled as to how you are supposed to interact with me too. For all of you who still respect me despite all of that, thank you." She proceeded to bow, and you noticed that everyone was taken aback by this. Even Emilia, who wasn't as mentally mature as everybody else at the table, was shocked.

You, on the other hand, knew this was coming, so you just felt proud of Crusch. To be honest, you had started to enjoy her presence, but everything was different now. Another potential relationship was taken away from you, and that was not something that needed to keep on happening. But seeing her still being able to hold herself together impressed you, and it proved her strength.

"Felix, I know that your concern for me is genuine, and that you are trying to guide me. I could do as you want and walk down the path that is safest. But I loathe the thought of going on with my life, knowing nothing. If I have a choice, I would rather go down the path that I choose instead of simply doing as someone says."

As Crusch was saying this, Felix was tearing up. When she finished, streaks were going down his face. "Crusch-sama..."

Crusch took his hands in hers, and this was the breaking point. Felix couldn't hold his tears back anymore, and he put his head down on their hands.

While this was happening, Wilhelm addressed you, Subaru, and Emilia. "If this is Crusch-sama's will, surely no one would be in favor of dissolving the alliance."

From across the table, Crusch, who was smiling, said, "Right. I know that I will be a trouble for you, Emilia-sama, Subaru-sama, and (Y/N)-sama."

Emilia smiled, and spoke for the first time in a while. While shaking her head, she replied, "No, it's all right. We can't really say that we're on the same page either. We need to rejoin everybody at Roswaal's mansion, and we need to talk it over with him too. And (Y/N), about that organization you mentioned about creating..."

You shook your head. "If it is all right with everybody, I would like to go over the details for that at a later time. I don't think that it would be a good idea to create an organization that is meant for killing while we're still dealing with some fresh trauma, so I would like to really go over it when we've calmed down some more."

Wilhelm nodded his head. "That is reasonable. I, for one, will support the founding of this organization, so when you have decided that the time has come, feel welcome to come to us. Will that be fine, Crusch-sama?"

She nodded her head. "It seems fine to me. My doors will always be open to the three of you, so if you ever need any assistance or if you would like to discuss anything, feel free to come here. After all, we are in an alliance!"

Time Skip

Subaru and Emilia left the lounge room before you did, and you stayed so that you could talk to the three other occupants.

"So... I know that I said this last night, but I want Crusch to hear this too. I am sorry. I was weak, and I wasn't able to do anything when the Sin Archbishops came. I promise that I will do everything in my power so that I can help you get your memories back." You didn't mention Rem because it didn't seem appropriate at this time, but it was one of those things that did not have to be spoken.

"(Y/N)-sama-" Crusch started to say something, but she stopped herself when she realized that she was using formalities with you, which made you feel uncomfortable."(Y/N), please do not hold this over you. I do not blame you for what happened, and I am sure that even the most powerful people in this kingdom would lose to the two Archbishops that you fought."

Felix finally stopped crying, and he looked up at you. "(Y/N)-kyuun... Please keep that promise. I a-am counting on you." He sniffled, and you nodded your head.

"Don't worry. I will." With that, you stood up. "Thank you for letting us stay here. We will leave tomorrow morning, and I will send a letter when I am ready to discuss the plans for the organization with you."

You left the room, and you decided to go to Rem, where Subaru was sure to be. You wanted to talk to him about that Gospel. If either of you could ever read it, that would be a great tool to use against the Witch Cult.

When you reached Rem's room, you could hear Subaru and Emilia talking. Creeping closer to the door, you could make out their conversation. "...don't burden yourself with carrying the weight of Rem alone. Let me carry your burdens with you!"

You quietly walked away from the door. This was a moment that you didn't want to interrupt, so you decided to head to your temporary room and get some sleep.

On the way there, you mumbled to yourself. "Not that I think about it, I've also told Subaru not to try to do everything alone, so he really does have a lot of people who are supporting him. Maybe he won't suffer as much as he did in Re:Zero. And the less he suffers, the less that I will probably suffer... maybe."

You sighed because you realized something. "What am I going to do now? We won't be going to the Sanctuary, so I guess that I can spend time thinking about the organization. Well first , I need a name for it. Calling it 'the organization' is boring, so I need a cool name for it."

This reminded you of something, something that seemed to have happened a lifetime ago. Subaru had asked you if you had a name for your ability, and you told him that you would come up with one later. Of course, with everything that happened, you forgot, but this was a good time to think about it. Plus, thinking about that would help take your mind off of the guilt that was still lingering.

There was just one problem - you are terrible at naming things.

Time Skip

The next morning, you had gotten up, and changed into the new clothes that you were provided the day before. The clothes that you got from... Rem were pretty much destroyed in the battle against Regulus and Gluttony, so you had to get some new clothes.

These were (F/C), and they actually looked like adventuring clothes. Now, you finally fit in with the fantasy world look, while Subaru has somehow kept his tracksuit intact.

Now, you, Subaru, and Emilia were in the front yard of Crusch's mansion, preparing to leave.

As the three of you finally finished packing any possessions that you had, Crusch walked closer. "I would gladly host any of you at any time, and I look forward to seeing you soon!"

Emilia was the first to reply. "We appreciate that, and as soon as we get our situation sorted back at our mansion, we will be sure to come back!"

"So I guess that I'll just come along with them and talk about that organization, which will have a name by then!" Since you couldn't think of any good names for it, maybe Subaru could help with that.

"Very well," Crusch said. "When you do, I hope that I can repay my great debt to the two of you."

To be honest, you didn't feel like she owed you a debt for the defeat of the White Whale. Instead, you felt like you owed her something because she lost her memories while you didn't lose anything.

Subaru voiced his opinion, which was pretty close to yours. "It's not a big deal. You helped us out, too. We even got a reward, right Patrasche?"

The ground dragon lowered her head, and Subaru rubbed his cheek on hers. When he did, he flinched back in pain. "Ow! Those scales hurt a lot more than I expected."

"Did you even think before you did that, because common sense-"

Subaru interrupted you. "Shut up! At least now I know how vegetables feel when I grate them! You probably can't relate!"

While everybody laughed at the exchange, you replied, "And that's a bad thing?"

You grinned. Moments like these were nice, and more of them would be even nicer.

Felix, who had been in Patrasche's dragon carriage, slid the window open and poked his head out of the back of it. "Rem-chyan is secure, but make sure that you keep her still!"

Subaru stopped dramatically rubbing his cheek. "Okay."

Felix then opened the door and jumped out of the carriage. "And Subaru-kyun, you'll need your rest when you get back to the mansion, too. You've been overworking your gate overtime since you decided to go against Sloth. I dyid clean out all of the toxins in nyour gate, but you need to let it rest for two months."

"Two months, huh?" Subaru looked like he was in deep thought. "Well, it's not like crazy stuff will keep in happening for this long, righ- Ow!"

You punched Subaru in the arm. "Don't finish that sentence! The jinx is real! You might have just screwed us over!"

Subaru exaggerated a gasp. "Oh no! Did I just set a flag?"

"All right, it's time for nyou to be going." Felix said, ending the conversation that probably just made the next month a lot harder than it would have been. "Come on, Crusch-sama! Give them a few parting words!"

Crusch nodded her head and made eye contact with Emilia. "Emilia-sama, I wish you good health. I look forward to seeing you again soon." She extended her hand, and Emilia shook it.

"You too, Crusch-san. Please be well," Emilia replied. She then gave a much more determined look. "Next time, I won't just be the one who always needs saving. I'll become someone who can help others."

Crusch smiled at Emilia's response, then turned to Subaru. "Natsuki Subaru-sama, I wish you the best in the future, too."

When Crusch offered her hand to shake, Subaru scratched his cheek and ended up just tapping her hand.

You didn't know what to make of that, but you did know that Crusch was looking at you now. "And finally, (Y/N). I hope that you will find happiness and success in your life, because you are more than capable of reaching it."

You took her hand and shook it.

Crusch really does look nice when she's smiling... Well, I guess that I'll just have to do my best. If I make the right choices, I' might be able to make something good out of this life...

The two of you ended the shake, and you waved as you followed Subaru and Emilia onto the dragon carriage.

Steering it was one of Crusch's attendants. This carriage was pretty much given to Subaru since it came with Patrasche, so the attendant would ride back to Crusch's mansion in a different carriage after dropping the three of you off at Roswaal's mansion.

There were about three other carriages that held who knows what, and you would probably find out what they held when they were unloaded, since you didn't see what was loaded into them.

After making sure that Rem was in place, Subaru sat next to Emilia. You sat at the very back, so you had space to stretch out.

"You know, Subaru, you always sit next to me as if it's the obvious choice." Emilia commented.

"Oh, is there something wrong with that?" Subaru asked her, now aware that Emilia might be uncomfortable with him sitting next to her.

To his relief, Emilia replied, "No. At first, I was a little uncomfortable, but now it feels strange if you don't, so it's fine."

Subaru stood up and pumped his fists. "Finally! My painstaking efforts have finally been rewarded! I'm so moved!"

This reminded you of something that you wanted to ask. "So, just wondering, what happened between the two of you while I was... you know..."

Subaru sat back down, and face began to turn red. Emilia looked a little embarrassed, but she was the one who explained what happened.

"Well, actually, after I saw the letter that you sent us, I went to the village and tried to evacuate the villagers. They wouldn't... but when Subaru came, he was able to give this amazing speech, and the villagers actually listened! And then he told me to go in a carriage with the children. I wanted to stay, but a bunch of people told me that it would be better if I stayed with the children and helped protect them, so that's what I did."

Emilia's demeanor was childlike, but it was cute. It was kind of like listening to a toddler, but not annoying.

"But then it turns out that one of the kids wasn't there, so I got out and looked for him! Apparently, he sprained his foot when he tried to fly from the top of a tree, he couldn't walk very good. I was lucky, and I found him where the kids told me his house was. But when I was carrying him back to the carriage, Subaru suddenly came out of nowhere and called for Puck! If it wasn't for him, I would have been hit with a big knife! So Subaru saved me again, and when I asked him why, he said-"

"That's enough!" Subaru was squirming from embarrassment. "It was cool when I said it to you, but I'm not sure if my heart is ready for everybody to know!"

You deadpanned. "You told Emilia that you loved her, didn't you?"

Subaru gasped, and made a huge spectacle of it. "H-how did you know?! Did you perhaps learn to read minds? Did you see this with a certain ability to see the future? Did you hire a spy?"

Sighing, you replied, "You know, I have this thing called a brain."

Subaru shut up, and nodded his head. "Yeah, that'll do it."

Listening to this made Emilia giggle. "You two are so funny! You're making me laugh so hard!"

There was a bump in the road, and Rem was thrown slightly to the side, so her arm was now hanging down.

This made the mood a lot more solemn, and Subaru went to straighten her back up. When he sat back down, Emilia said, "I know that the two of you are still worried about Rem, but there's no need for you to hide that."

This next part was directed towards Subaru. "She's important to you, isn't she?"

Subaru balled his fists up, and firmly answered, "She is! She's very important! As import- Almost as important to me as you are!"

"Did you have to correct yourself?" You asked.

Subaru was about to retort, but Emilia had something to tell you. "You know, (Y/N), you've changed since the last time that I saw you. You've become more... well, I can't really find the word for it, but you've changed for the better. And I told Subaru this, but you don't have to bear your burdens alone. I don't want to be the only one who is being saved, so please let me help you!"

You smiled warmly. "You don't have to worry about that. If there's something that you can do, I'll let you know."

Of course, there are a lot of things that you and Subaru can't tell her, but that doesn't mean that Emilia needs to be left out of everything.

Subaru continued where you left off. "But don't forget that the two of us will still help you too!"

Emilia gave a big grin, and then she said, "I know that I'm participating in the Royal Selection for selfish reasons, but thank you. The two of you didn't even know me, but you saved me that one night, and you still haven't stopped helping me."

"Selfish...?" Subaru asked.

"I'm sorry. I can't explain it very well," Emilia told him. "I don't want to hide anything from you, but I'm not sure how to put it into words."

Of course, you had watched enough of season 2 to understand Emilia's backstory. She can't remember this, but she froze her forest, and she was the only one to wake up a century after she froze it. Roswaal, probably following what was written on the Gospel, found her, and promised to help unfreeze her land if she came with him and won the Royal Selection. Or a least, it was pretty close to that.

Subaru, who did not know Emilia's backstory, told her, "We can talk everything out once after we join up with Roswaal."

Emilia was expecting Subaru to react negatively towards her inability to explain her reason for being in the Royal Selection, but he didn't seem to be able to experience any bad feelings for her.

"Speaking of Roswaal, do you know where he is right now?" You hoped that he wasn't trying to pull off an elaborate scheme, but that's probably what is happening.

On the bright side, you won't have to go to the Sanctuary, so there will be more time to prepare for the attack on the mansion.

Unfortunately, Emilia's response shattered your hopes. "Well, right before your letter arrived, Roswaal-sama left to go to the Sanctuary."

Your left eye twitched. "Is that so? Did he say when he would be coming back? We kind of need to talk to him."

Emilia shook her head. "He actually never said anything about when he would come back. I guess that we have to ask Ram when we arrive at the mansion."

Ram.

That was going to be a fun interaction.

Since Subaru knew what happened with you and Ram, he looked at you with a concerned face. You noticed this, so you said, "Don't worry. I'm fine, so things will work out."

There was only one thing that was left unsaid.

Curse that clown!

Time Skip

After half a day, you finally saw the village.

Subaru did too, because he started to stretch. "I promised that I would do some radio calisthenics with the villagers the next time that I saw them, so I should probably get ready for that," he explained.

There was only one problem. Looking out of the window, you saw something, or rather, you didn't see something.

There were no villagers in the village.

"Oh, come on! What happened this time?" you whined. This was either a bad sign, or you were overthinking this and there was a good explanation for this. One that you couldn't think of.

Subaru was also puzzled. "Well, they should be here..." His face brightened up as he had an idea. "Maybe they're going to throw us a surprise party when we get to the mansion! They're probably waiting for us there!"

"I sure hope so..."

Emilia could see that you were troubled, but she didn't know what to say to comfort you about this.

The eight minute ride to the mansion was silent, as no one knew what to expect when they got to the mansion.

When the carriage stopped, you opened the door and let Emilia out, then helped Subaru carry Rem out of it.

You walked to the front doors expectantly, not even commenting on how Rem felt light.

The double doors opened as if to greet you, and standing in front of you was a maid. One that you didn't want to see in this situation.

"Hello. My name is Frederica, and I am taking care of this mansion in the place of Ram-san. Welcome home, Emilia-sama. And you two must be Natsuki-sama and (L/N)-sama."

Your eyes began to widen. Something wasn't right, and you were afraid that things had gone wrong. "Frederica, I have a question. Where is Ram, and where are the villagers?"

In response to your question, Frederica answered, "This morning, the villagers were taken to the Sanctuary, and Ram-san acted as a guide."

What in the world took place for that to happen... Oh no. I think I know what caused this.

It was something that you had predicted, and something that you hoped wasn't actually true.

Subaru jinxed everything, and now things are about to get crazy again.

Hey guys! I hope that you enjoyed this chapter!

The next chapter will begin the Sanctuary Arc, which I am excited for!

Well, I can't think of anything else to say, so I'll see you next time!

(Edit): Sorry everyone, but I won't be able to publish a chapter this week! I'll have one next week, so thanks for your patience!
