Chapter 14 - Love That I Didn't Care
In the previous chapter, the detective pair Tom and Jerry along with Chazz (dressed up and disguised as Hajime Kindaichi), Miyuki, Rika, Inspector Kenmochi and Akechi were splitted into groups, in order to searched for clues. On the other hand, Kindaichi was at the old basement, in which he was been confronted by Rosa Lilac (Black Masked Rose). She tried to seized him but he knocked her down, cutting her mask and he escaped from the building. Back when, Jerry along with Rika and Miyuki were entered in the old building of Rose Hotel, in which they found the last music sheet that it was created by Rosa, in which it was dedicated to no other than Kindaichi. Meanwhile, Mayumi has hatching an evil plan, by capturing Tom and Jerry's closest friends (Jaden, George and Nibbles) in order to lured Black Masked Rose into her secret trap, in which it was revealed that she had betrayed her. On the other side, Rosa was been encountered by Yoichi Takato, Kindaichi's arch enemy.
Will Kindaichi can able to figured it out the real truth? Will the detectives can able to find out the evil plot of Mayumi against Rosa?

A hour later, Jerry, Miyuki and Rika were finally catched up with Tom along with Kenmochi, Akechi, Chazz also Kindaichi was with them. The detectives were surprised to see him.
" Master Kindaichi! " Jerry shouted, rushed to him, jumped on his palm hand
" Jerry! Tom! Thanks goodness that you two are okay. " Kindaichi said, tapped Jerry's head with his hand
" Hold on... how did you escaped from Black Masked Rose, Kindaichi? " Tom asked
" I will explained everything later when we get back at the hotel. Sorry for making you guys so very worried about me. " Kindaichi apologize
" No need to apologize, Kindaichi. We are so glad that you are safe and sound. " Tom said, with a happy smile
" Yeah, and he was getting confused when he saw me, dressed up as him. " Chazz said
" I guess there are two Kindaichis in our group. Now, we should tracked down Black Masked Rose before she could murdered an another innocent victim. " Rika said
Kindaichi smiled. Miyuki rushed to him, hugged him in embraced, making him to getting blushed in red on his face.
" I'm so glad you are still alive. I'm getting so very worried about you. " she said
" It was okay, Miyuki. I'm finally returned back safe and sound. I don't want to see you getting worried about me again. After all, I'm always thinking about you at all the times. " Kindaichi said
" Awww... how sweet... " Tom said, with a romantic expression on his face
" So, what now? " Kenmochi asked
Kindaichi turned his head to Jerry, asked " So, Jer... do you find any clues or evidences? "
" Sure thing, Master Kindaichi. But I will gonna explained it to you when we get back at the hotel. " Jerry said in response
The group returned back at the hotel but much to their surprise, they saw the entrance door of the hotel was shut off.
" What the? the door was closed?! " Tom said in a surprise manner
Kindaichi and Chazz tried to opened it up but they failed.
" It won't opened " Chazz said
" I think someone turned on the door machine in order to closed every doors of the hotel. " Kindaichi stated
" This is not so good... I think someone in inside, who had been attempted to shut the door to prevent us from entering. " Rika said
" No way... " Miyuki said, with a shocking expression on her face
" Who did such a thing just like that? " Kenmochi wondered
But suddenly, Rika's older brother Ryotaro went approached to them.
" Brother! What's the rush? Is there's something wrong? " turned her head to him
" Something wrong... some of the staffs and the guests were trapped inside. "
Jerry and the others were surprised of what he had said.
" They are trapped in inside? All of them?! " Jerry asked with a surprise shocking expression on his face
" Yes, we had been tried to catch the culprit but he was too fast. But then, we found these two guests who had been escaped out from inside the hotel. Ryotaro said in response
" Who? " Kindaichi asked
Miss Hannah Yester and Mr Danner came in, with some scratches on both of their arms, went approached to them.
" Miss Yester?! Mr Danner?! But why you two having scratches on your arms. " Jerry asked
" I was been trying to escaped from that mysterious culprit, who intended to trapped me inside of the hotel room. But luckily, Mr Danner was there also, trying to escaped as well and we found an exit door that it was lead us out of the hotel at the back portion. " Hannah said to them
" So, do you see the culprit who had been chasing you? " Kindaichi asked
" No, not really. I think that person weared red clothes with a mask on it. " Hannah said in response
" Somehow, I had saw the culprit was carrying something... something heavy.. and the culprit placed in an another empty but dark room. I tried to check it out of what was really going on... but that culprit sees me, and he tried to captured me and so I ran faster downstairs and then I saw Miss Hannah and I helped her out. There is something fishy was going on... I don't know why... " Danner stated
" red... weared a mask... no way! It couldn't be... " Rika uttered with a surprise manner
" What's it, Miss Rika? " Jerry asked
" I think it was Mayumi's doing. She was behind all of this settlement. " Rika said
" That red masked woman did this?! But how? " Tom asked, with a surprise expression on his face
" I don't know. I think she wanted seek vengeance against me for the second time. I had never expected that to happen so soon. " Rika said, with a mad expression on her face, gripped both of her hands
" Rika... " Akechi uttered, as he looked at her
" So, now what? Now that Mayumi was behind of all this setup. We need to catch her from behind. " Jerry said
" By what? " Tom asked
Suddenly, they heard a loud scream.
" I know that voice... " Chazz uttered
" It couldn't be that... " Jerry uttered, turned his head
It was actually the cousin of Tom, George, went approached to them, in a panicked manner.
" Cousin! "
And he ran to helped him.
" That's was your cousin, Tom? " Kindaichi asked
" Yes, he was. " Tom said
" George, why are you doing here? Where are the other guests? Are they still all trapped inside? " Jerry asked, went approached to him
" Yes, that mysterious culprit weared red clothes had intended to seized me in inside the room along with the other guests, and all of them were felled unconscious on the floor. But I bit on the culprit's arm and I ran quickly and then I jumped on the window. " George said in response
" Thanks goodness that you don't have any scratches, cous. " Tom said
" Also, those two were still trapped inside too. " George said
" who those two? " Chazz asked
" Can you say it to us? " Jerry requested
George whispered to Jerry's ears of the names of their friends and then he was shocked in surprised.
" No... " Jerry uttered in a surprise manner
" What's it, Jerry? Whom those two are referring to? " Chazz asked
" It can't be... My cousin and Master... are still in trapped inside. " Jerry answered
" No way! Your cousin Tuffy and Jaden were trapped in inside?! " Chazz asked, with a shocking expression on his face
" Exactly, I think Mayumi planned to used our close friends and the remaining guests and staffs as hostage baits, in order to seek vengeance against Miss Rika. " Jerry said to him
" Unforgivable... " Tom said, with an anger on his face, punched both of his hands together
That very moment, Akechi was fainted in front of them when he heard of what Jerry had said.
" Superintendent Akechi! " Ryotaro shouted, rushed to his aid to helped him
Inspector Kenmochi, turned his head to Kindaichi, asked " So, now what, Kindaichi? "
" If it will keep continues like this, all of them will be tortured for good. We need to get hurry before she do something to everyone including Tuffy and Jaden as well. We can't let her to be succeeded. " Tom said to Kindaichi
" Any ideas? " Chazz asked Jerry
" Somehow, I think Mayumi was so very much clever when it comes to these stuffs but I think her goal that she wanted was not to seek vengeance to Miss Rika but to someone else as well. " Jerry said in response
" So, do you think there is an another person whom she will gonna seeked vengeance with? " Chazz asked him again
" Who? " Kindaichi asked, with curiosity on his face
Meanwhile at the forest, Rosa Lilac (Black Masked Rose) is still encountered the arch rival and enemy of Kindaichi, Yoichi Takato, the Puppeteer of Hell, in face to face.
Then, she asked " How did you know about my secret relationship with Kindaichi? "
He helded the red rose through his hand, smelled on his nose, and he said with amusement " Time changes everything, even in a perfect crime of art. Everyone thought that you were dead in the fire a long time ago but you were secretly survived. Somehow, I think it was too late to turned back the past. "
" What are you talking about?! I will still continued in pursuing and protecting Kindaichi no matter what it takes even if I will be killed or been tortured by anyone else. "
Takato laughed of what she had said.
" What the funny is all about, Takato? " with a little mad expression on her face
" You still wanted to protect him? Just like I said, it was too late to turned back from the past. Everything will gonna be changed, and after all, someone will gonna betrayed you. "
" someone will gonna betrayed me? Whom you are referring to? " with shockness surprise on her face
Back when, the group stayed for a while in an inn that it was near from Kyoto Hotel along with Miss Hannah and Mr Danner. In inside the room, Rika, was sat on a chair, waiting for Akechi to waked up, was laid down on a huge bed. Kindaichi, went approached to her.
" How was Mr Akechi? "
" Still not awake yet. Somehow, I was getting anxious if Mayumi will gonna seek vengeance against me, but still she cannot stole him away from me. " as she keeps looking at the unconscious Akechi
" Don't worry, Miss Rikako. I think I have an idea plan in order to tracked her down. "
" It is? By what? " turned her head to him
" Jerry and I were having discussed a new plan strategy in order to tracked her down immediately. "
" But the question is... will that strategy plan will gonna worked out? "
" Of course it will, but with some little help from you, Miss Rikako. Somehow, you are the most bravest and toughest police officer that I ever met with, nothing ever changed a bit, even you are the most prettiest among in the police department and some of the guys were having huge infatuation to you but you are already fall for Mr Akechi. "
" Thanks, Mr Kindaichi. " with a smile on her face and she went on " By the way, I need to confirm to you something. "
" Of what, Miss Rikako? "
She released the paper sheet of music that it was composed by Rosa and she handled it to him.
" What's this, Miss Rikako? " with curiosity on his face, hold the paper sheet
" A paper sheet of music that Jerry, Miss Nanase and I found at the old building of Rose Hotel a hour ago. It was found at under in an old piano. I think it was the last main clue that we needed with. "
" the last main clue? What do you mean by that? "
" the sheet... was written... was no than herself, the Black Masked Rose, or by her real name Rosa Lilac, the former music composer. "
Kindaichi was surprised of what she had said, then he asked " Rosa... was the one who wrote this?! But how... "
" I think that her last music composition was dedicated to no other than you, Mr Kindaichi. That secret love note that Jerry and Mr Princeton found a few days ago and that music sheet... all of them.. that was the proof that Miss Rosa was secretly falls in love to you from the very beginning when she first met you 10 years ago.
" It was impossible... " as he still looked at the music sheet
" Despite that she was secretly in love to you, she was still resented to other people, especially who are very close to you, including Miss Nanase as well. Her strong love desire for you had driven her to hatred and rage in her heart, through murdering. "
Kindaichi, became silent, had recalled from his mind that he had cut her mask into half. After he recalled it, he said to her, with guilt expression on his face " I guess it was my fault... all of these years that I wanted to lived a normal life with ones whom I cared for but still... I couldn't forget about my past relation with Miss Rosa 10 years ago. I couldn't realized that it will gonna happen over and over again.. still seeked looking for me... by through murdering people who are very defenseless, but why she had wanted to bring me back? is because she wanted me all along... but still, I will still continued to work harder, in order to helped on those who are in need. "
" I know of what you are truly feel with, Mr Kindaichi. Someday, She will gonna change her heart by helping and protecting others as well. I hope she has a second chance, to forgive all of her greatest mistakes and to be accepted her in your life once again. "
" Thanks, Miss Rikako. " with a smile on his face
Suddenly, Akechi had finally regained consciousness, opened his eyes, making the two were in delight.
" You are finally awake again " Kindaichi said
" Where am I? " Akechi asked, wondering
" We are inside in an inn house. We will gonna stayed temporary for the night. Mr Kindaichi and Jerry were planning a new strategy in order to track down Mayumi. I think she had trapped all the guests, staffs and including the close friends of Tom, Jerry and Mr Princeton as well, in order to seek vengeance against me. But, I can't allowed you to get involved so very dangerously. " Rika said to him
" But... I can't let it that to happened.. because of me... you and Mayumi... " Akechi uttered, with a little frightened expression on his face
She hold his hand, tightly, said to him " Don't blamed yourself in this, and after all, I will still keeped on protecting you at all the times and I can't let her to get near to you, I swear. "
" Rika... "
The two were looking at each other, in romantic manner, in which Kindaichi giggled in embarrassment, said to Akechi " Nice try, Mr Akechi. You are so very popular guy than ever seems. "
" Ha! Ha! Very funny, Kindaichi. " Akechi said, with a grumpy expression on his face
" It was really true, isn't it? After all, Miss Rikako will be your future wife someday in the near future. " Kindaichi said, with a burst of laughter
This makes Akechi's face turned blushed in full red.
" Ugh! Give me a break! " he protested
The conversation was interrupted when Tom entered in, rushed to them.
" What's it, Tom? " Kindaichi asked
" The plan was set, Master Kindaichi. I have been gathered every informations in every part of the hotel and also... the secret informations about Mayumi as well. " Tom answered
" Nice job well done, Tom. This is the only way to tracked her down and to end her evil plot once for all. " Kindaichi said, with full of strong determination
Rika, was smiled of what Kindaichi had said. But unbeknownst to them, Mayumi (dressed up as Red Masked Death), had secretly heard the secret conversation, filled with anger and jealousy, then she thought on her mind " I can't let all of you to be succeeded... Mark my words... " then she turned her head, looking at Rika, thought on her mind " I will gonna defeat you this time, Rikako Kobayashi by my own hands... and after I defeated you, that superintendent guy will be belonged to me for real. " with an evil grin on her face
After that, she flew away from the window, so that no one will ever noticed her. But unbeknownst to her, Rosa, was hiding on a huge tree, secretly watching her from behind. After a few seconds, she fled away from the place, and she started to followed her from behind, she thought " I never thought that she will gonna betrayed me, just like as Takato said to me. I swear in my heart that I will gonna protect everyone including Kindaichi as well... I can't let it that to happened... never... "
Now that Kindaichi had finally reunited with the group, he and Jerry were planned a new strategy plan in order to tracked Mayumi Shikata (Red Masked Death) in a secret trap, because she had used the guests, staffs including Tom and Jerry's closest friends as hostage baits, by trapping them inside, in order to seek vengeance against Rika and including Rosa as well. Later, Kindaichi learns the real truth from Rika by revealing the clue that they had found at the old building of the Rose Hotel. On the other hand, Rosa (Black Masked Rose) had learned the secret betrayal of Mayumi, her only secret accomplice, from Takato, Kindaichi's arch enemy and rival, and she was started to pursued her in a secret despite the detectives didn't know about this.
Will the secret strategy plan will worked out against Mayumi? Will Rosa and Kindaichi can able to make amends with each other again? Will they can able to rescued on those who were trapped in inside the hotel?
