Chapter 17 - Hajime's Dilemma

In the previous chapter, the story of how Rika discovered Mayumi's secret threat by eliminating Shino Rima, a young Japanese singer and artist. After telling the whole story, Rika was totally refused in which Mayumi used Kindaichi as a hostage bait and she challenged Rosa Lilac, demanding to go to the old Rose Hotel building or else she will gonna killed Kindaichi to death, in which she accepted her demand. Detective Jerry and the others were agreed with her, joining on the quest in stopping Mayumi from the threating others.

Meanwhile in an another hotel building, Tom contact Jerry through device communicator that it was used for detectives only.

" Hey, pal. How was the plan goes? "

" All failed up. "

" Why not? Did that Mayumi planned something devish? " with a shocking surprise on his face

" Yeah, after that Superintendent Akechi confessed that he had chosen Rika instead of her, in which she used Master Kindaichi as a hostage bait. "

" She had kidnapped Kindaichi and used him as a bait?! " with surprise on his face

" Yes it is. Not only that, she had challenged Rosa Lilac, in order to see him again or else she will gonna killed him to brutal death. "

" It was? Are you really satisfied that she will gonna handled this? "

" I think it was 90 percent sure that she will gonna eliminate her, I'm so sure of it. "

" I see about it. By the way, the rest of the guests and staffs of the Kyoto Hotel were safe in an another room at the second floor. Inspector Kenmochi and the rest of the police forces were secured the whole place. "

" And our friends? "

" They were safe as well. So, are you guys heading to the old Rose Hotel building? "

" Yes it is, pal. Just make sure that there is nothing happened so badly. We have to solved this case as soon as possible. "

" Okay, be careful out there. "

" I will "

And their conversation was ended. He turned off his communicator and placed on his pocket. He looked at the window, thought " I hope Miss Lilac can able to handled this risky job. She had known Master Kindaichi a lot but still... "

Chazz enters in.

" Hey, Thomas. I had been heard that Jerry along with the others were headed to the old Rose Hotel building to rescued Kindaichi, isn't it? "

He turned his back, said " Yeah, it is. But Jerry said that he was very sure that Rosa can able to defeat Mayumi in their final showdown, i'm so sure of it. "

" Are you really satisfied about that? Mayumi was so very clever just like the arch enemy of Kindaichi, the Puppeteer of Hell. "

" I know that, Chazz but I'm pretty sure that she will gonna handled it but however... "

" however what? "

" Well, you see if Miss Lilac will gonna risked her life for Kindaichi.. she will be.. "

He didn't finished the sentence when Tuffy and Jaden enters in.

" How was my uncle Jerry and the rest of them? " Tuffy asked

" They were gonna headed to the old Rose Hotel building, to settled the case once for all. " Tom answered in response

" old Rose Hotel? I had been heard that place from before. " Jaden said

" You do? " Chazz asked

" Yes, my foster uncle told me that he was working in that hotel for 15 years, as a hotel receptionist. He said that the Rose Hotel was been owned by a former flower arranger, who was the manager of the hotel at that time. Also, he had met the well known musician and composer, named Rosa Lilac. But somehow after the huge fire incident, he didn't came back to work again. Currently, he was in the country of Spain, in which he built his own bakery shop and cakes as well. " Jaden stated

" I cannot believe it that your relative had already met Miss Lilac from before. " Tom said

" Wait.. is she was alive? But everyone thought she was dead since after the fire incident? " Jaden asked

" Yes it is. Right now, she was with Jerry and the others, to stopped that masked Mayumi from killed Kindaichi. " Tom answered in response

" Hold on... Mr Hajime was been kidnapped by a masked figure? But why that masked stranger did such a thing just like that? " Jaden asked, with a surprise expression on his face

" I will gonna explained everything when pal Jerry and the others will come back, with Kindaichi was been rescued. It was very difficult for her to handled a person who had nothing but to ruined the lives of others. She was just a terrible psychopath. " Chazz told him

Tom, turned his back again, facing at the window, watching and he thought on his mind " pal.. everyone... please return back safely. "

(10 Years Ago)

(Before the fire incident)

Rose Hotel, was one of the well popular and well known hotel in the entire country of Japan. The hotel was been famously for beautiful flowers and plants, in different colors and appearances. That it is why many people are visited and toured around everyday, just to see some new and attractive flowers, especially roses. Besides it was famous for beautiful flowers and plants, it has many entertainment arts, attractions and games, including gamble and chess, in which it was the famous game in the whole world. Also, in every occasions the hotel had been invited some well known musicians, performers, artists, composers and singers to performed on stage. One of those people whom it was invited was Rosa Lilac, a musician composer with a hidden secret.

Many people were watching her stage performance and one of those people was the grandson of Kousuke, Hajime Kindaichi, was 8 years old at that time. He was along with his mother and his uncle, who likes music very much.

After the performance, each of the people signed her an autograph, and she signed it them one by one. Kindaichi was the last one to went approached to her. Rosa was surprised when she sees him.

" I will gonna signed your autograph. "

" Sure, no problem at all, my dear boy. "

And she signed her signature on the music book that Kindaichi holding with.

" Thank you, Miss Lilac. " with a smile on his face

" You're welcome. I had never expected that a huge fan of mine had addressed me by my last name. So, what was your name, dear? "

" My name is Hajime Kindaichi. I was with along with my mom and my uncle. Actually, he likes soft musics a lot. "

" Hajime Kindaichi... what a nice name you have... "

" Thanks, Miss Lilac. You are so very grateful that much.

And she was smiled of what he had said. That was how their friendship was been started.

As days goes by, Kindaichi was started to visit in the Rose Hotel, just to asked her on how to played and composed musics through well known instruments just like violin, drum, flute, bassoon and even piano as well. Rosa, was been very impressed at him, thinking that he had a great potential in the near future, as the future musician and composer. As they getting along with each other in both outside and inside, not minding the people who watching at them. Somehow, Rosa was started to developed in love to Kindaichi at first sight.

(Return back to the current time)

Detective Jerry along with Rosa, Miyuki, Rika and Akechi were still walking on the way to the old Rose Hotel building.

" I'm so very worried about Hajime. What if that evil psychopath might laid a finger on him? I can't let that to happened. " Miyuki said with a little mad expression on her face

" Just relax, Miss Nanase. We will gonna rescued Mr Kindaichi on time. I'm so sure of it. " Rika told her, cheered her up

Miyuki's anger had been cooled down.

" Sorry for my arrogance. I was so very overprotective of him whenever he was in grave danger. " Miyuki apologize

" No need to. I know that Mr Kindaichi needs you so very much and I'm pretty sure that the case will gonna closed soon." Rika said to her

" Yeah, I guess Miss Rika got the point there. We will gonna closed the case no matter what. " Jerry said, with excitement on his face

Rosa, was feeled upset on her face. Jerry notices her mood.

" Is there's something wrong, Miss Rosa? " Jerry asked, with a little bit curiosity

Rosa didn't answered, still silent in mood, with her head nodded.

" That's pretty odd... I guess she was not in a good mood right now... I wondered why.. "

But after a few minutes, Rosa said to him, in a casual manner " Detective Jerry, can I request you for one last favor? "

" Yeah, and what's about it? "

On the other hand at rooftop of the old Rose Hotel building, Mayumi Shikata was standing, waiting for Rosa to showed up while Kindaichi, was been tied up in ropes, in a form of hanging.

" What she was taking so long to come here? Maybe she was out of her mind or she was thinked something very foolish? Heh, she was very not outsmarted that much. " with a slight evil grin on her face

But Kindaichi interrupted, asked in a loud voice " Mayumi, what is the meaning of this?! Are you trying to eliminate me, aren't you? "

She turned her back, said with amusement " Oh, what a smart mouth you have, detective. It makes sense that Miss Rosa will came here to rescued you, what a pathetic. And besides that, this is will be her greatest demise. "

" You will never underestimated her, Mayumi. She was very different from you, you evil psychopath! "

" different? There is no different between her and me. We're in a different shadows of paths that she and I taken with. So, after I will gonna eliminate her... I will eliminate you next. "

He was shocked of what she had said.

" No thinked of an idea in your mind right now, detective? I had already knew that she was secretly in love to you from before but this time, you two will never have a happy ending with each other. " turned her back away from him, with a burst of laughter

Kindaichi, was confused in dilemma, had been realized that Mayumi also knows his secret connection with Rosa as well. Feeled giving up, thought on his mind with his head nodding " Rosa... please... don't let yourself to sacrifice your own life just for my sake... and I know that I had truly cared for you since I met you... please.. don't let your guard down... "

After a few minutes of waiting, Mayumi heard a slow footstep coming by.

" Ah, you are finally here... nice timing... "

And Rosa had finally arrived in, making Kindaichi was surprised in astonished.

The two women were looking at each other, in different facial expressions.

" So.. I had never expected to faced me just like that. Are you willing to died for real? " with amusement on her face

" It will never let it that to happened. I must ready to fight against you, for the sake of Kindaichi and for everyone as well! I won't lose against you. "

" Well, bring it.. let's see if you really want to defeat me. " still with amusement on her face

They released their weapons from their pockets and they were ready to fight. On the other hand, Jerry, Rika, Miyuki and Akechi were at the outside entrance door of the building, waiting for her call back.

The final battle has been begun. Will Rosa can able to defeat Mayumi and to saved Kindaichi?
