Chapter 18 - The Final Wish of A Woman

In the previous chapter, Jerry along with Rika, Miyuki, Rosa Lilac and Akechi were going to the old building of Rose Hotel in which Rosa will gonna have her final confrontation with Mayumi, who had Kindaichi as a hostage bait. Also, a flashback story on how Rosa and Kindaichi met each other for the very first time in personal. Later on, Rosa and Mayumi were finally face to face with each other for the final score.

Both Rosa and Mayumi were facing with each other, in different facial expressions. They hold both of their primary weapons on their hands.

" Are you willing to die so soon? " with an evil amusement on her face

" I will never be "

" Oh, if you really so or are you afraid to be killed? "

" I'm not afraid of you! I'm going to risk my life for the person whom I truly cared for all those years. This time, I will never turned my back away anymore. "

Mayumi laughed, asked " Really... you are willing to risk your life for this young man detective? What a pity... "

" Let's end this, Mayumi! "

" So be it "

And they started to fight with each other. While they were keeped battling, Jerry along with Rika, Miyuki, and Akechi were sneakily entered from the back, to rescued Kindaichi.

When Kindaichi saw them, he was surprised " You guys... " in a low tone voice manner

" Hajime! I'm so glad that you are alright. " Miyuki said with delight

" We have to get you out of here quickly. " Jerry said to him

" Why? " Kindaichi asked

" I will explained everything later when their battle was over. " Jerry said in response

They removed off the ropes from both of his hands.

" But how about Miss Rosa? I cannot leaved her behind. " Kindaichi asked, with a concern expression on his face

" Just let her be, Mr Kindaichi. We have to get out of here before Mayumi sees you.. " Rika said to him

" But.. " Kindaichi uttered

" We don't waste any time, Kindaichi. Let's go! " Akechi said in a rush

Despite of being worried for Rosa, he have no other choice but to follow.

And they quickly went down from the building. Kindaichi turned his back, thought " Don't let your guard down, Miss Rosa. I don't want to see you die... Keep fighting. "

They were successfully made out of the old Rose Hotel building.

As they were at the outside, Kindaichi sees Jerry's facial expression was doubted.

" Is there's something wrong, Jerry? You look so pale. "

" Uh, Master Kindaichi... well... actually.. it was... " and paused for a moment, in silence

And after that, he continues "... was that.. Rosa tells to me something... that it was very important.. "

" Huh? What are you talking about? What did Miss Rosa said to you? Just tell me. "

Jerry was stood quiet, tried to think of what he will gonna say but with a little nervous on his face.

Back when, the two women were continuing battled with each other. But much to Mayumi's surprise, she sees that Kindaichi had already escaped from the chains.

" No, impossible! " and she turned her back to Rosa, with gritted anger on her face " How dare you... "

" It was already too late for that, Mayumi. I had already know your real weakness that it is. "

" Say what? You cannot dare to defy me that easily. "

" And besides that, an evil criminal just like you will never existed in this world. You are going to the depths of fire... in which where you are truly belonged with. "

This makes Mayumi to be impatient of what she had said, trying to strike her by her weapon. But Rosa made the last strike, hitted her on the chest, making her to be immoblize and her weapon was dropped on the floor.

Before she will gonna collapsed down, Mayumi said to her, with a little evil chuckle on her face " You are so smart.. very smart.. and besides... you will gonna go to dark hell also.. along with me then.. "

" I will never be.. and besides, I will gonna fulfilled my last wish... for Kindaichi... that I do really loved him from the very end.. "

She pulled out her weapon from Mayumi's chest, with blood fell on it. After a few seconds, Mayumi fell collapsed to her terrible death.

Back when, Kindaichi was shocked of what Jerry said.

" Hold on.. don't telling me that... after she had killed Mayumi... she will gonna strike by a lightning bolt?! "

" Yes, and besides that.. she said that she truly loves you until the very end.. that was her final wish. I knew it was hard to explain it... but.. "

Kindaichi tries to get back inside but Akechi and Rika provokes him so that he will never entered in.

" I have to saved her! I cannot let her to die. "

" But, Mr Kindaichi. It was already too late for that. If you do, you might getting hurt as well. " Rika said to her

" But.. "

" You have no other choice, Kindaichi. Miss Rosa had finally made up her mind. She had do this just for you.. and besides that, she cannot live for so long.. is because she was in her near old age.. " Akechi told him

This makes Kindaichi was surprised. In a moment of sudden, rain had finally came in.

Kindaichi steps in, facing at the building. He gazed up at the rooftop, in which Rosa was stood in the center.

A moment of silence was occurred. After a few minutes, Rosa turned her back, seeing Kindaichi was watching at her, crying with tears. Before the lightning bolt could strike her, she uttered the final last words, in a whispered manner " I love you, Hajime Kindaichi.. farewell.. "

" I love you too, Rosa Lilac.. " still crying with tears on his face

And then the lightning bolt strikes at her, fall down to her beautiful and peaceful death by felled off from the old building.

" Now that was over..." Jerry uttered

Miyuki went to Kindaichi, was still crying. She tapped her hand on his shoulder, saying in a comfort manner " Don't worry, Hajime. I'm still here for you and I will promise that I will never leaved you behind. "

" Miyuki.. " looks at her

Meanwhile at the hotel, Tom, Chazz, Jaden and Tuffy were waiting for Jerry and the others to returned back. Inspector Kenmochi enters in, asked " Are they coming back yet? It was strong rain outside. "

" No, not yet. I'm pretty sure that Kindaichi was safe... I do hope.. " Tom said in response

But then, Chazz's cellphone was ringing on his pocket and he picked it up, opened it. He received a message from Jerry.

" Guys, it was a message from Jerry. "

" What is it, Chazz? Read it " Jaden asked

He read the message of what Jerry said but then he was shocked in astonished, with sadness on his face.

" What's wrong? Did something happened to them? " Tom asked

" Miss Rosa Lilac.. was no longer in this world.. she was already gone.. " Chazz said in response, with a little sadness on his face

They were surprised of what he had said.

The case had finally come to close. And so, Rosa had died peacefully, due to her love and devotion to Kindaichi, the person whom she truly cares for.

Will Kindaichi can able to move on from this unforgettable tragic loss of Rosa?
