Chapter 4
After passing through the doors, the group found themselves in a large hanger bay that looked vacant at first. Then they saw a long table appear. It was covered with a wide assortment of weapons such as blasters, blades, and staffs, as well as multiple types of armor and uniforms.
"Now before you set off, there are some things we need to go over," Temporal said, as she appeared with Magus.
"The first is that you may chose which weapons and clothing to use on your mission. Some of which belong to six of you," Magus stated as he pointed to a highlighted section of the table.
Seeing this, Ahsoka, Starkiller and Kota grabbed their lightsabers, respective robes, armor, boots and accessories.
Rex chose his old Phase 2 Clone Armor, along with his blasters, a rocket launcher, extenders for the blasters and a jet pack. Bo chose her own Mandalorian armor along with her weapons of choice and a Jet pack as well.
Juno selected an officer's uniform that was based on the ones worn by the Rebel Alliance. Her weapon of choice was a DH-17 Blaster Pistol. Padme selected a set of clothing that included a pilot's uniform from Naboo and some dresses and regular attire. She also chose two blasters, one a silver type and the other was a heavy one with a cable launcher.
Chewbacca grabbed a bowcaster, a few packs of bombs, a long gun and two curved swords which he recognized as Ryyk blades, which were used by his people.
They were then directed to an area where the men and woman could change in private. It took several minutes for them to get ready. Once they were done, everyone came out wearing what they chose.
Magus then continued with his instructions. He said they were going to need currency next. He made 400 cases appear, each full of credits from the time period they were traveling to.
The cases were put aside and the table vanished. A large computer screen and console took its place.
"On to the next matter. You will require vessels. This computer contains a list of various ships, vehicles and so on, that you may look through," Temporal stated.
"If we're going to into battle, we will need capital ships to use," Kota said to the others.
"I agree, but what type should it be?" Bo-Katan repiled.
"Maybe it should be Star Destroyers!" Juno suggested, which made the others look at her.
"Hear me out," she continued. "Those Destroyers have a lot of fire power and strong defenses, and I know how their systems work."
"That makes sense. We're also going to need some support ships," Ahsoka said as she was going through the list of ships.
"How about some Light Cruisers and Venators like the ones the Republic used?" Rex suggested. He then added, "Speaking of which, what kind of soldiers are we going to use?"
"We are unable send you any organic soldiers, but it might be useful for you to use Battle Droids. Their large numbers would be useful against the Yuuzhan Vong," Magus replied to him.
Rex looked uneasy at the notion of having to fight alongside the droids that he and his fellow clones fought against in the past. But he would have to put aside those feeling for now.
Going over to the computer, Rex looked up the lists of Battle Droid types "Hmm. I think using B1 and B2 as the front line soldiers would work. Also the BX Droid Commandos, IG MagnaGuards and Destroyer Droids for special forces could give the enemy something to focus on."
The others agreed with him as some of them remembered fighting against these types of droids. Once this had been settled, Kota spoke next. "That just leaves starfigthers, which will be a problem as we don't have any pilots."
"Seeing as were going to use the Battle Droids that the Separatists used, we should also use their Droid Starfighters. They can move on their own and don't need pilots," Padme responded in a calm way.
"That makes sense. We should go with Vulture Droids, Tri Droid Fighters, and Hyena Bombers for our fighter squadrons. Also we can use LAAT Gunships and HMP Droid Gunships for troop transports," Rex said as he chose the ships from the computers.
"Be sure to add some Lucrehulk-class Droid Control Ships to hold the fighters," Kota added.
"I would like to add my personal ship, the Rogue Shadow. It has enough firepower to take down a capital ship," Starkiller said as he went up to the console.
"If he's adding his ship, then we can use the Manadorlian star fighter we got before coming here, and a few others of its class," Bo added as she went next.
"There's some ships that I wish to add, ones that we Jedi used during the war," Ahsoka spoke up going after Bo.
Padme suggested adding the N-1 Naboo starfigthers from her world, which she said were fast and powerful as she took her turn at the computer.
Chewbacca brought up some of the ships that the Rebellion used as he looked up them up. Then he realized something: how will these ships would be maintained as they need large crews to operate them?
"Droid crews will be provided for each ship, with knowledge of how to work them, and they will be programmed to follow all of your orders," Temporal replied to the Wookie, while the others picked out how many ships they were going to need.
Juno then suggested that their Star Destroyers should be differently colored, as they all looked alike due their grey paint. The others knew that she was right and decided on which colors to chose.
Ahsoka, Juno, Rex, Kota, Chewie and Bo chose to have the Destroyers colored each in a different paint. The first being Orange, the second a Dark Obsidian Purple. Third having a Dark Blue. Forth a Emerald Green. Fifth an Dark jungle Green and Sixth having a Teal Color.
The six also decided to name each of these colored ships. They settled on calling these ships: The Guardian (Orange), Vortex (Dark Obsidian Purple), Orion (Dark Blue), Dynasty (Emerald Green), Wyyschokk (Dark Jungle Green), and The Satine (Teal).
Once they decided on ships, Rex then brought up ground based vehicles. He suggested using All Terrain Open Transport (AT-OT), All Terrain Attack Pod (AT-AP), Self Propelled Heavy Artillery Turbolaser (SPHA-T), HAV Juggernaut Tanks and Speeder Bikes.
Ashoka added that the Battle Droids could use some battle vehicles such as the Armored Assault Tanks and Hailfire Droids.
Juno suggested using Imperial Walkers such as the All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT) and the All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST). Chewbacca agreed with her as he knew what they were callable of.
In the end the number ships chosen where 6 Star Destroyers, 10 Droid Control Ships, 8 Light Cruisers, 9 Venator Cruisers 7 Corvette Blockade Runners, 4 Nebulon-B Escort Frigtes and 6 Mon Cala Command Cruisers, making a total of 50 ships for their fleet.
Once done, the computer screen changed and everyone saw a map of the galaxy. "This shows the state of things during the Vong's invasion." The map had large areas of red which indicated the areas where the invaders had attacked.
"Blue represents the territory of the New Republic, Green for the Empire, and White for the other governments," said Temporal, who pointed to highlighted areas on the map.
One section of the map was increased showing a green looking planet with clouds covering some areas.
"This is the planet Myrkr. It's noted for being used by smugglers, outlaws and others associated with the underworld. But it has come part of the Vong's territory."
"Why would the enemy want this planet?" Juno asked.
"Because of a native life form from there. One that is used to create a weapon just as deadly as the Yuuzhan Vong," replied Magus.
The screen changed and a strange creature appeared. It had a reptilian appearance, as a row of bone-like spikes ran down is back to a wicked whip-like tail. It also had eight legs with sharp claws. The head looked almost canine shaped with yellow eyes and a mouth full of teeth that stretched out like blades. It looked like a true monster.
"This is a Voxyn, a hybrid creature created from the DNA of the Vornskr from Myrkr and the Fero Xyn from the Vong's galaxy. These monsters were created to aid their masters in killing the Jedi!" said Magus.
Looking at the image of these creature made some of the group feel uneasy. "Though it may look fearsome, the life span of these Voyxn is short, as they are all clones. Each on is birthed from a Queen located on one of Vong's Worldships," Temporal added.
No one said anything as they didn't know what that was. Then a new image appeared in front of them of a massive disc shaped warship, with eight arms that spiraled outward.
"This is a Worldship. They are used as the capital ships by the Yuuzhan Vong. In addition to combat, they are also used as homes for the invaders," Temporal said, gesturing to the image.
"So I take it that there is a Worldship at Myrkr. Where the Voyxn nest is. And you want us to go there and destroy it?" Rex guessed.
"Yes, you are going there to destroy the Voyxn, but also to rescue those who are doing the same thing," Magus repiled with a grin.
"A strike team of Jedi Knights have gone there to destroy the creatures, but their mission will go wrong leading to the deaths of several members. Unless something is done to change that," Temporal added.
"Wait. I thought you were going to send us to the start of the Vong's invasion?" asked Bo, looking puzzled.
Both Temporal and Magus shook their heads in reply. "No, we can not do that. Certain events in history must occur. If we change the start of the invasion, the outcome will be different then before."
"That's right somethings are meant to happen, but as a wise Jedi once said: Always in motion is the future," Magus started to say.
"But many possible futures there are," Ahsoka said next, remembering Master Yoda's words of wisdom.
"Now then, we can send a some of you into the Worldship to aid the strike team,while the others keep the Vong's forces busy in space. Who will step forward?"
The two saw Chewbacca make the first move, and he said something which made the Magus smile. "Chewbacca says he will lead the rescue team, as he is also known to the Jedi of this time."
Ahsoka went next saying that he was going to need her help. This made the Wookie smile as he put his hand on her shoulder.
"You can count on me as well," Rex replied as he put on his helmet.
Starkiller went forward next. "You're going to need another Force user for this mission," he said confidently.
"We should also take some B1 Battle Droids, MagnaGuards, and Droid Commandos with us as backup," Ashoka added, to which Temporal said that would be possible.
"I can command the fleet while Juno leads our fighters from the Rogue Shadow," Kota replied, to which Juno agreed. Padme and Bo said they would join her their own fighters.
"Um, General, since the Vong can't be sensed through the Force, won't that make it difficult for you with your um, field of vision?" Juno said to him.
Thinking about this, Kota knew she were right. He had learned to see through the Force. But this proved to be a problem.
"We can help you with that General Kota." Magus answered.
"How so?"
"We can enhance your other senses. This will allow you to "see" the Vong in ways you've never thought possible."
After hearing this, Kota thought about it for a few moments then agreed to it. Both beings came forward as they place their hands over his face. A glow of various colors appeared which made the others turn away. After a few minutes the glow faded as everyone waited to see what happened.
Turning around, Kota looked about the same but he said that his senses felt different as he could hear everyone's heartbeats which surprised them.
Both Observers said in time Kota would become accustomed to his new senses. Once they were done everyone got together in their groups, but Rex noticed something.
"Wait a sec, what about Thrawn?" he asked cautiously.
"And what about PROXY? I hope he's alright," Juno added.
"The Grand Admiral is elsewhere at the moment. He will join you when the time is right. And as for your Droid, you can find him aboard the Rogue Shadow," Magus answered.
"Wait til he finds out about this," Starkiller joked to Juno, who chuckled.
"Now then, once you are all there, you will be on your own," Temporal said in a serious tone.
"She is right. We have taken a risk by doing this, but we have the confidence that you will succeed," Magus added.
"Then I guess this is goodbye," Ahsoka said, looking at the two beings.
"One way, yes, but there are no true goodbyes, Ahsoka Tano,"
replied Temporal.
This made her wonder what Temporal meant, but she wouldn't worry about it as she offered a smile and bowed to them, as did the others.
As the four got ready, Juno told them to use the comlinks to contact her from the Rogue Shadow. "Once you've found the strike team and destroy the Voyxn Queen, use this to contact me and I'll come get you."
"Kota, your fleet will be placed near the Myrkr system. Use the coordinates in the ship's computer to get you there and to escape later," Temporal added.
"Oh, and you two should know that the Voxyn can sense those through the Force. So be aware of this on your mission," Magus said to Ashoka and Starkiller who were surprised by this news, but they thanked the Observer for this information.
Everyone then saw the Computer disappear as the room started to fade away in a familiar bright light.
"We both wish you luck or as you Jedi say: May the Force be with You," the two said unison before vanishing away.
Then the same happened to the group as they were sent off into the unknown.
