Chapter 9:
(Still Flashback/Phoebe dreaming)
I jumped at the moment and quickly wrapped my arms around his neck, arching my back to get closer. His lips were soft and gentle, he was actually being sweet and I smiled slightly into the kiss. He pulled away and grinned at me, "I knew you liked it, back there in the stairway too…why did you run for real though?" I blinked, he knew I liked it, a lot, but how could I even explain it was because he embarrassed me in front of everyone…
"I just wanted you to feel how you made James feel when you broke up with him, then stunned him on his ass…which by the way, was totally funny." I smiled, I had worked super hard in classes and practiced a lot to learn as fast as I could, I could use some spells without speaking. "I didn't know you spell without saying the words, it's impressive for a first-year." he was impressed by me, the guy who was all full of himself thought it was funny that his best friend got knocked on his ass.
"I'm sorry I put the spell on you." we both got up as he said it…was he really sorry? I didn't know what to believe and didn't want to get hurt…again. "I'll get you back…" that's what came out of my mouth and I began to walk away, trying to escape his looks, his lips and this forest. We made it out without another word and I stared at the school, it all seemed like a dream, like I'm going to wake up and Sirius is going to be a jerk to me again, I'll still be dating James and Lily will still be my friend.
(End Flashback)
I woke up to a ray of light beaming me square in the face, I growled and threw my pillow toward it, but hit Rain's post and she jumped, waking and flapping her wings, freaking out completely. It was Saturday, mid-day by the sun, I had slept through half the day. I sighed and rolled over, I had dreamed of Sirius…the past…memories. I crawled out of bed and got stuff for a shower.
After my shower and calming Rain down, I was ready to exit the room. My hips being hugged by my dark blue skirt, lacy designs of purple filling it, my breast being caressed by the simple black tube top. I slipped into some high heels and strapped my wand against my calf and opened the door to be met with Harry Potter and his two little friends passing my door.
"Oi!" I called and they turned to see me, the girl staring and the boys blushing slightly. "Where y'all headed?" "To see our friend, Hagrid" I nodded and threw my hand up, signally them to continue, but my eyes lingered on Harry, who looked so very much like James. I sighed and headed toward the great hall, only to be stopped by Severus. "Running late? I could have used you in my class today…I was showing the effects of a special potion…one that I think you would have enjoyed…" "Truth serum?" I guessed and he nodded, smirking like he was better than me.
"That's pointless, I don't mind speaking my mind at all…want to know what I think about you?" I sneered at him and he frowned, then continued passed me, apparently he knew the answer. I didn't have to help any teachers for a while, so the days dragged on and on, but soon it was Halloween and I was excited to see all the decorations that Dumbledore had whipped up this year.
I made my way to the great hall and saw Harry, Ron and Hermione heading toward the dungeons, I shrugged and walked into the hall, wowing along with the students, it had been a while since I saw a Halloween here. I took my space at the teacher table and Dumbledore nodded at me, as well as a few teachers. "Happy Halloween!" soon food was appearing and I wished a happy all hallows eve to the Muggles and everyone else.
I blinked and then quickly filled my plate, sipping on the sweet wine in my glass, took a bite of chicken on the end of my fork. The hall was filled with laugher and excitement, I noticed a trio of students weren't there. I wonder where they can be, missing this must mean it's really important. I noticed Snape's eyes lingering on me as he continued to eat the food on his plate.
I rose from my chair after everything was finished, students finishing off the desserts and headed for the door. "Goodnight!" I called and disappeared from the bright lights, heading back to my room, full and more tired than ever. That's when it reached my ears…a creepy voice, chilling me to the bone. "…let me rip…so hungry…" I blinked and looked around, but I was alone in the hallway.
I sank into the shadows as I heard voices, it was Harry, Ron, Hermione running by her. "It's going to kill someone!" I froze at his words, what was going on at Hogwarts. I followed after them, they were running up the stairs as fast as their legs could take them. I paused behind a corner and listened to them talking. "What's that hanging under it?" I listened to them gasp and then decided I should show myself.
"We gotta get outta here!" Ron spoke, but it was too late, he saw me and then I heard students heading up the stairs, quickly filling the hallway. Draco had yelled something, but I heard movement…but no student made that hissing sound filling my ears. The caretaker came and saw, then moved toward Harry, assuming he did it, as he was important.
Dumbledore and the other teachers appeared and I was stuck there, standing next to them. He said for some of us to follow, we went to Lockhart's office and they examined the cat that had been hanging over the words only moments ago. Finally he spoke, "She is not dead…" I blinked and slipped by the window, not feeling like I belonged here, after all I wasn't even there…very long.
There was arguing, the caretaker was blaming Harry, but there was no way it was him, something else did that…something I had never heard of. I waited until the three kids left and moved to Dumbledore. "Headmaster…they weren't there when it happened. I was following them…" he nodded, "I doubt they did this, but still, it's highly unusual." I nodded, agreeing with him. Snape glared at me, "Why were you following them?" "I saw them heading up the stairs, I was curious as to why they weren't at supper…Obviously, they were at a death day party, which I'm sure was quite a treat."
He quickly left, unable to even attempt a comeback at me, Dumbledore chuckled and I smiled at him. "Headmaster, can I speak with you?" we walked outside the office into the classroom, I hesitated, unsure if I should tell him. "I'm confused…are there any ghost that are blood-thirsty, you know, hungry for blood, wanting to kill?" he looked at me with those eyes, staring into my mind and soul it seemed.
"There is the Bloody Baron, but I assure you, no ghost is able of actually hurting a single student in the school…Peeves is just playful." I nodded, I couldn't explain the voice, no point of dwelling on it. "Have you had many flashbacks since our talk?" I shook my head, I hadn't focused on the past, so no new memories had surfaced yet…but I knew they would, Harry Potter seemed to bring them out…he also heard the voice. I know it and I need to figure out what it is.
