Chapter 12:
I found the Grand hall empty and sighed, perhaps it was just a myth after all. But I know I heard that voice, whispering to me…and Harry Potter heard it too. I need to speak with him, but I doubt he would talk me, I mean, I'm similar to a teacher and students don't really talk to teachers. I needed to find a way to get him away from his buddies and get him to speak with her about the voice.
I sat down and waited, trying to think of a plan. "Does the young miss need something?" a voice came to me, making me turn and smile at the house-elf. "I would enjoy a nice hot cup of chocolate." "Of course!" the elf said happily and popped off. Only a moment later, a cup appeared in front of me and I thanked the elf, knowing she was probably busy getting ready for supper tonight. I sighed and drank the liquid, letting the warmth fill my body until the cup was drained completely.
I sat there, pondering over everything that was happening until I heard students talking and entering the hall. I stood up, took a moment to watch my cup disappear before turning and running into Harry Potter and his friends. "Opps, sorry Professor Ice." he said and I looked down at him, he looked normal enough. How did he hear the same voice that I heard? "Are you alright?" Hermione cut in and I turned my gaze to her. "I need Mister Potter for a moment." "But it's suppertime." Ron said and I glared at him.
I took Harry's arm and walked out of the hall without another word or look to anyone. Once we were alone, he asked if he was in trouble. "I must ask you about something private…meaning you are not to speak a word to anyone. That does include your two buddies in there. Do you understand me?" he nodded and just waited for me to say something. "Did you truly hear a voice in the halls the night the cat was frozen?" I didn't beat around the bush, but couldn't wait any longer.
"What?" "I heard you talking to the others about you hearing a voice. I want to know if you really did." he looked away, like he thought I might not believe him. "Harry, I knew your parents…I would believe their son if he told me something. Your mother was my best friend." I confided in him and his eyes went wide, like now I was the unbelievable one. "I have no time for this, just tell me if you hear the voice too!" I hissed, tired of this chatter. "You hear it too?" I blinked, I didn't mean to say that. I cursed myself and sighed, "I have heard the voice. I've been trying to figure it out."
"Does Dumbledore know?" I shook my head. "I don't understand it right now, I just wanted to know I wasn't crazy. Now remember tell no one of this, no one Harry." I went to walk away, tired after this frustrating day. "Wait! I wanna figure it out too!" "Sorry kid, not going to happen. Just tell me if you hear it again." I didn't give him another chance, but hurried off, determined to get to the bottom of this mystery. I went to my room and grabbed a book, searching for any reference to the Chamber of Secrets…with no luck at all.
I shot up from the book, realizing that I was sleeping. "Shit." I said and rubbed my cheek, probably had writing on it from the page. I saw it was 10am…on Saturday! I jumped up, rushed through a shower and magically blew my hair dry as I pulled on a pair of tight black pants and a tank top, then a sweater with dark blue swirls in it. I ran out of the room and toward the Grand Hall, the paintings whispering and talking as I rushed passed.
I saw most of the students already heading for the field and ate a quick bite before running after them, not wanting to miss Harry's match. I thought of James as I headed down, not wanting to compare them, but they were very alike and I knew I probably would. I took my seat beside Snape, smiling at his face as I beamed at him. "Don't be grumpy!" I said and flicked my wand, making a smile appear on his face.
The game began soon after he busted my spell and the player shot around the field. Harry's broom took him far higher than the others, but Malfoy was right behind him. Harry dodged a bludger, but even with the help of the red-haired twin beaters, the ball still attempted to knock Harry off. "Isn't that odd?" I asked, looking to the other teachers for help, but they really didn't seem to bothered by it. The twins teamed up and became Harry's protectors, but it gave him no time or room to search for the Snitch.
Their teamed called for a time out and I watched them gather to make a plan. When the game resumed, Harry was alone, the Bludger still chasing after him for his life. I went to yell for Harry to move, but too late, it hit him hard. He flew hard toward Malfoy, then he went tumbling down to ground, he had the Snitch in his grip. Everyone rushed onto the field, straight for Harry, who wasn't moving at all now. Lockhart pushed himself to the front, as did I. Lockhart said he was going to fix Harry's broken arm, but Harry seemed to rather have it left alone.
"He doesn't want your stupid ass spelling him, so back off!" I shouted over the clicking sound of a camera and worried voices of the students. Lockhart didn't bother with me, before anyone could react, he shot his spell directly at Harry's arm. I watched in horror with everyone as his arm just deflated…obviously no bones left. "This can happen. As you can see, the bones are not broken anymore." I shoved him to the side and grabbed Harry up in my arms. "There are no bone left you dumbass! Get the hell out of the way!" I felt like kicking Lockhart, but decided Harry needed the nurse now.
We took him to Madam Pomfrey and his team surrounded him, I left the room, he was in good hands now. I wanted to go find Lockhart and hex him into the leaving the school, he was becoming a plague wherever he went. I turned a corner and rubbed my head, it was beginning to hurt. I paused and sat down, the pain intensifying and I held it, trying to stop the pain. I didn't understand what was happening to me as my eyes began to blur and everything started to spin.
