He loathed cold drinks, looking at his chilled cup of cocoa. Slowly he begins to rise from his chair, popping his bones in the process. Once up, he's wide awake, grabbing his cup. He used his cane to limp to the sink in the headmaster suite. Pouring his old cup down the drain, he stopped and sat the cup in the sink.

"it was a mistake," He leaves the cup discarded in the sink taking his time to return to his chair. In a mere 15 years, Grimm attacks spiked sharply, resulting in budding villages disappearing. Lifes lost left and right.

She wasn't paying attention, reading through a weapons article on her scroll while using a notebook to write upgrade ideas for her to take to her uncle after class. She also had ideas for her sister's weapon written near the bottom.

"Ruby, "

She swats the hand, tapping her desk away. She stops glaring at her friend, a girl her age with blue eyes and black hair points, in front of her looking up while sliding her scroll into her skirt pocket.

"thank you for putting the scroll away. Now can you tell me what the twilight era was?" Wolfe asks. She folds her arm, returning to the front. Everyone's eyes turn to her as Wolfe leans against the board.

"It happened 300 years ago, after the Divine revolt as punishment for revolting. Magic disappeared, and some people theorized that's when faunas, dust, and semblances appeared."

"Now, Muriel. What was the Divine revolt? " Wolfe looked at Ruby's friend.

She grinned, "Easy. It was a 500-year war fought between humanity and the Gods of light and darkness. Historians believed it was the divine offspring of the gods. Who rallied with the humans to defeat them and the god of darkness that took the magic away. " Muriel answered with a grin.

Wolfe gave an approving nod to both of them with a smile while someone snickered. An older girl stood up, " Xiao long," Wolfe glared at the teen, who giggled.

She sat down, her hair returning to its natural state. All eyes turned to Cardin Winchester as he leaned in his chair. "You forget, your two peers are taking 6th-year classes, their only 4th years. Answer me, what are the four houses believed to be descendants of the god's divine offspring. "

"Schnee, valkyrie, and" He stopped.

She chuckles, "Ruby, what are the remaining two houses?"

" Arc and Rose," She finished. On cue, the bell rang. Wolfe dismissed them but stopped Yang before she could leave.

"You must learn to control your temper," she said before returning to her desk, leaving Yang to grumble under her breath.

"What were you writing?" Muriel asks. Stars shine in ruby eyes as she unfolds the sheet she was writing on.

"Update for my lovely crescent rose." Ruby reads the updates off and tells her about the new and improved sniper scope.

She waits by the doors for her sister once Muriel waved goodbye to see her shuttle taking her back to Atlas for the break.

Ruby decided to take a seat in the shade; she chooses to sit behind the stone statue of the great king of Vale.

Yang walks through the halls with her fist balled. "control your temper."

Wolfe's words rung in her head reminded her that she had little to no control over it.

"Sqruit," She fails to recognize her uncle reaching his hand out. She's caught off guard by his hand grabbing her. "Where's pipsqueak?"

"She's waiting outside," Yang shows him the text from Ruby.

"You two head home. I won't be able to let you in the forge huntsmen business. " Qrow states, his hand returning to his side.

"You know ruby will be hurt," Yang clarifies.

"I know, so I'll let her take crescent rose home for the break." He leads Yang to signal's armory. He enters the code for Ruby's weapon.

She finds Ruby with her headphones over her ears while writing into her notebook.

"Rubes," She taps her sister's shoulder. Ruby removes the headphones from her ears.

Yang explains she'll be unable to use the forge, offering Ruby a deal they'll take a shuttle to Vale. Yang would visit a few of her friends while Ruby could stop at the Dusk till dawn shop.

"Deal," Ruby agreed.

Qrow watched them from his spot on the roof flask in one hand. Looking at his nieces, he sighed. Closing his eyes, he reaches into his pocket. Qrow opens his scroll while popping open his flask with his other hand.

"The signal has gone dark." He types sending the message to Ozpin.

Ozpin took a single cookie off the tray as he finally decided to open the message from Qrow. It had been sent to him hours ago, marked as urgent.

"the signal has gone dark,"

He looked up, noticing Glynda slipping back into the room. She closed her scroll before looking at him.

"Why did you offer Ms rose. A spot at the academy. She's too young." Glynda scolded. Ozpin took it with a straight face. Glynda herself was a mother, and she had ms rose the best interest at heart.

"Glynda, please. I know what I'm doing. It is best for Ms rose to attend the academy. I rather her comprehend how to properly wield her abilities and not need them than for her to need them and not be able to wield them. "

Glynda relaxes, sitting at the table and taking a cookie off the tray. "I'll never understand why?"

"We all make mistakes, Glynda. This one is one will learn from or" Ozpin says standing, he takes a slow breath putting all his weight onto the cane as he began to limp away.

"A mother's love knows no bounds." She thought, watching Ozpin leave.
