Chapter 57: Planning

I didn't remember falling asleep, but when I woke up it was the next day and Sirius was snoring beside me. I moaned and poked his side, he needed to be quiet, I wanted to sleep more. He didn't budge and I sighed, getting up and going downstairs in my robe. It was still early and no one seemed to be up…except Molly. She was busy in the kitchen, humming quietly as she was prepping for breakfast. She noticed me and nearly jumped out of her skin, grabbing her chest. "Oh my dear. You frightened me. Is something the matter?" her eyes went to my stomach and I shook my head, yawning and walking over to assist her with the toast.

"Molly, Sirius told you that we were keeping…that…a secret correct?" she nodded and smiled, passing a plate to me. "Of course, it's alright. But if you have any questions, feel free to ask anytime." that reminded me about Sirius asking how far along I was. I looked around to make sure we were alone and then whispered, "Do you know of a spell to tell how far I am?" she gave me a nod as she took the toast filled plate and said she would come by my room after dinner and show me. I thanked her and was going to help her with breakfast more, but she was cracking an egg and my stomach churned. "Sorry." I mumbled and held my mouth as I sprinted up the stairs to the bathroom.

When I finished, I groaned and wiped a wet rag over my face as I went back to my room, Sirius still snoring away in the bed. I climbed beside him, curling against his chest as I got comfy again and dozed off again. Molly woke us up knocking on the door and we let her in as I explained that I had asked her about the spell and Sirius's eyes lit up, he seemed to be excited in an instant. "Phoebe, lay down on the bed and lift your shirt away from your belly please. Sirius, lock the door if you don't want anyone coming in." he rushed over and did as she said before holding my hand as I laid down and pulled my shirt up. "It's basically turning my wand into an ultrasound, it will project an image in the air."

I nodded and gave Sirius a smile as he gripped my fingers tight. It was cold as she mumbled a spell and pressed the tip of her wand to my stomach and waited. Suddenly a flash and pop happened and the image was hanging in the air above my belly. It was black and white, and fuzzy for a minute until a sound hit my ears. Thump thump thump thump thump. A heartbeat…tiny and fast. I felt the tears in my eyes as I stared hard at the screen, trying to see anything. "Oh, look at that." Molly said and used her other hand to point as she moved the wand a bit. "That's it?" Sirius asked and I was still looking, I could hear the baby's heartbeat, however I couldn't see anything on the screen. "Molly, where is it?" I asked, feeling bad that I have to ask.

"Phoebe, look right here. Let me adjust. It is a bit hard to see." her finger traced the image, and I saw it then, a tiny figure in the middle. "Wow, you are further than I would have thought." I didn't speak as I could now make out a head, and legs as well. "How far Molly?" Sirius was asking as I traced the image with my own finger, listening as they were speaking. "By looking at the baby here, I would have to guess around 15 weeks. I'm surprised she isn't showing yet. I was already popping by this stage. Now that doesn't mean anything about the baby, it just means that every woman and every pregnancy is different. Listen to that heartbeat, the baby is clearly healthy and strong already. Bless the little darling." "Can you tell us if it's a boy or girl?" Sirius asked and the image vanished as she removed her wand and the room got quiet as the heartbeat went away.

"No, it's still too early for that. She will need to be at least 20 weeks or longer. I can check back to keep an eye on the baby's growth and everything, since I know." she hugged us both and then left, Sirius sank onto the bed as I sat up and rubbed my hand along my stomach. "15 weeks…that's not a lot of time left…like we thought." I was mumbling but Sirius was smiling brightly. "Phoebe, it is the best gift I could ask for. But now we have to get married, I would hate for you to feel like your not a true part of my family. Is this something you want to do soon?" I nodded, I didn't want to have this child out of wedlock.

Sirius went to get breakfast for us and I paced the room, was I really that far along? Arthur took Harry for his hearing and I saw him off the next day, feeling less sick and more like myself. "It's going to be fine Harry, trust me." he seemed scared as they left and Sirius was always around me now, he was trying to act like nothing was wrong, but I could see his looks and his reactions at me doing anything at all. It was a bit annoying as he was treating me like I was 9 months pregnant. I rolled my eyes as he went to try to help me sit down and plopped down with a smirk. His face was worried as he tried to play it off and I snickered. He was going to be so easy to mess with now.

We spent our evenings either in his room or mine, we switched it a lot and he wouldn't let me go on missions for the order anymore, telling me I needed to rest and stay safe. Told me to plan the wedding, whatever I wanted. I sighed, he wasn't going to give up, I finally gave in and over the next 2 weeks, I stayed in my room mostly, looking through pictures of dresses and flowers. That evening, Molly came and did another ultrasound, telling us the baby was growing fine and everything was looking good. When she left, I sat up and noticed the belly was poking out a bit more now, it looked like I was bloated and had gained several pounds. I wouldn't be able to wear my tight fitted clothes anymore. "Sirius, I think we should get marry pretty soon." I told him as his fingers ran across my growing stomach, a smile on his face.

"Of course, whenever you want." he was saying, I swear he wasn't even listening to me. "Do you want to get married here? Or my home on the beach?" I asked and his face looked up, that got his attention. "Your home for sure. I would never get married in this dull dead place." I nodded and we talked a bit, he said he would let the order know and asked if I wanted to invite anyone. "Not really. I mean, Remus and Harry and the others. Molly and her family. But that should be about everyone." he agreed and said he would handle it tonight. "Sirius, I need to go out today. I have a dress to buy." he wanted to object but sighed and nodded. "Right. Take Remus at least. He can protect you."

"Since when did I need protection?" I snapped and he laughed, pointing to the scorch mark on the wall. Being pregnant had sent my powers on the odd side and when Sirius had upset me, I blasted almost completely through the wall without trying. Molly said it was a normal thing during a magical pregnancy. "Fine, I'll take him. Are you wanting me to not tell him about the baby?" he shrugged, "He knew about the first one, he will be happy for us. If you want to tell him, that's alright with me." we went to bed soon after, Sirius humming and rubbing my belly before dozing off. He was going to be such a good father.

The next day, I asked Remus to accompany me on a trip and he agreed, not questioning as he was tired of being run around on Order business. "Where are we going Phoebe?" "This way." I turned the corner and a big window filled with white dresses was staring back at us. "Oh…I didn't realize that Sirius had even asked." "Well he did a while ago, but I said not now. I wanted to handle my father and everything first." "Then why now?" I turned and pulled my tshirt against my stomach and the belly appeared and his face went wide with shock. "Phoebe, really? Are you pregnant?" I nodded and we went inside as he fired off questions. I answered them all, telling him how far along and we both wanted to be married before the baby came.

"Only Molly knows. Please don't say anything. Sirius is all about wanting to keep it quiet, I'm guessing because he knew nothing of the first baby." Remus understood and helped me browse the racks and pull some off to try on. The assistant wanted to help, but I didn't want anyone else fawning over me. I knew the type of dresses I liked. I slid into the first one, zipping it up before turning and looking in the mirror. It was flowing and white, the fabric silk and loose like a sheet billowing in the air. I stepped out and Remus's eyes fell on me and he smiled brightly. "Wow, that's amazing Phoebe." I turned in a circle and shrugged. "I'm not sure if it's my style. I mean it's so loose fitting."

He laughed and stood up, pointing to my belly a bit. "I thought that was what you were going for…to hide that bit trying to poke out." I looked down, it was visible if you were really looking. I sighed and shook my head, "I don't like it. Let me try another." I went back into the room and pulled it off, placing it back on the hanger as I pulled another off. It was big and puffy, I walked out and Remus actually laughed at me, his cheeks going pink as he tried to catch his breath. "It's bad isn't it?" I laughed also and twirled around, seeing the gown trying to eat me with the layers. "N-no no, it's just…not you." he calmed himself as I walked off, wiping the tears from my eyes from laughing.

It was a couple hours later when I finally found something that I liked and Remus was telling me that Sirius would be dumb-struck, his approval of being one of his best friends. We purchased it and I let him walk me back to the house, telling me he would send someone to pick up the flowers and have them delivered to my home on the day of the wedding. He excused himself when we went inside and I saw Sirius right inside, must have been waiting for us to return. "Congrats, Sirius." Remus said and shook his hand and hugged him before leaving. Sirius eyed the bag in my arm and raised his eyebrows. "Don't even try to peek. I will have Molly keep it in her room."
