Chapter 59: The Baby

I groaned and rolled over, feeling Sirius's arms snake around my waist and tug me closer to his naked body. "Where are you going Mrs. Black?" I blinked…I wasn't a Riddle anymore, or Ice as far as everyone else knew. I mean, I had legally changed my last name, but still I was born a Riddle…and now it was gone. It made me smile, I was free of his name, and gained the name of my love. "Mr. Black, I could use a bit of a break, your baby is demanding food." his face disappeared under the covers and I felt his lips on my skin, "Sweet one, Daddy will make sure you have anything you want for breakfast. Just tell me what." I laughed, I was craving some bacon and eggs, it was making my mouth water already.

He hopped out of the bed once I informed him, pulling a robe on as he told me to relax and went to the kitchen. I walked to the bathroom and stared at my naked body, the belly was there for sure now, round and growing more and more everyday. I ran my fingers along it, and jumped when a kick landed on my palm. "Oh really? Fiery little one aren't you." I whispered and jumped in the shower, bathing before grabbing a robe and joining my husband in the kitchen. He was cooking and humming slightly as I sat and just watched him, it was amazing that this was my life now.

We moved here after the wedding, Dumbledore and the order still used his family home for business, but Sirius was more free here, he didn't have to hide and we were free to be newlyweds. It had been a month since our wedding, but everyday still felt like our honeymoon, maybe it was because we were both kind of out of the order temporary, Sirius because he was still wanted and once we told everyone about the baby, Dumbledore told me to rest and get ready for the baby. I agreed only because the further I got in the pregnancy, the more my magic was random and not working like I wanted.

We were updated daily by the Order, keeping us in the loop and Harry wrote us for a while, school was different with a teacher that refused to let them use magic. Sirius finished and plated the food, sitting it in front of me while he went to the fridge and grabbed some orange juice for us. We ate quietly, just enjoying his cooking and he cleaned up as I walked outside, sinking into a lounge chair and rubbing my full happy baby bump belly as the sun warmed my body. Sirius joined me and I could tell by his face, he wanted to ask. "Yes, if Molly isn't busy, we can find out if the baby is a girl or boy." he lit up, telling me he was going to floo message her and see how fast she could get here.

He had been asking, wanting to get started on the nursery and getting clothes and everything for the baby. I waited and shortly after he came back smiling, saying she would be on her way in a few minutes. He was almost bouncing with joy when she popped up, leading her straight to me as I sat up from my lounging on the couch. The post came and Livy brought it to us, handing Sirius a letter I assumed was from Harry as Molly began to put her wand to my belly. The letter was left on the table as a strong heartbeat was heard and Sirius joined me as the image appeared.

"Now, let's see if it's a little girl or little boy growing in there." Sirius said and his eyes were glued to the screen. It took her a minute, the baby didn't want to show us nothing apparently but finally she smiled and pointed with her free hand. "And this is for sure a little boy. See here." Sirius's hand gripped mine tight as his smile was beaming at the screen. "A son…" I smiled also, the sex of the baby wasn't important to me, as long as it was healthy and happy, that was all that mattered to me. Molly said she couldn't stay as the order was busy right now and I could see Sirius wishing he could be helpful to them.

After she left, Sirius curled against my belly, hugging me tight as he spoke to his son. "Grow strong my son, protect the people you love. Treat your mother with respect and care for her all her life. I will teach you to use your magic, I will teach you everything that I know and learned in life." "Not everything you won't." I joked and gave him a look, reminding him of the trouble James and him got in as teens. "Hey, good memories my love." he replied and I shook my head as he continued talking to our little boy. He remembered Harry's letter when he brought me a snack and left to read it, saying it was probably nothing and I shouldn't stress.

I ate and rubbed my bump, for some reason this kid liked to lay on my organs, making it harder to breathe sometimes. But I wouldn't change it, I missed our first child so much, it was gone too soon, but our son is growing so fast and I was already half way to meeting him. I was getting sleepy when Sirius's footsteps jarred me, "Oh sorry, I was just bringing you a blanket." I blinked and looked around, it was night already. I didn't realize that I had fallen asleep. Sirius helped me to our room and told me that Harry was worried about some woman from Fudge's office spying on Dumbledore and the school. Thinking that Dumbledore was raising an army to overthrow him, which was stupid.

Sirius was over cautious when it came to being together in the bedroom, he was so worried about the baby but I wasn't, and I was hormonal and horny so I usually won the fight about that. The weeks passed fast, Sirius and I made one of the many spare rooms into a huge nursery, painting it a shade of light blue, hanging pictures of our friends and family, posters of kid things. I spelled the roof to reflect the sky, just like at Hogwarts, and Sirius was struggling with putting the bassinet. I giggled and came over, telling him to use his magic, "I don't like to use it, knowing that you can't. it doesn't seem fair." "It's alright, I'm growing a person, it's understandable that he is going to mess with me, must get it from his father."

I watched him whip the room together a lot faster with his magic and soon it was finished, being only a few feet from our room, that was I could feed the baby and we could be close. I was getting big and about to pop by Christmas break started and Harry joined us at our home, along with the Weasley's, I had plenty of room so it was better than Sirius's family home, where people were coming and going with the Order so at least they could relax here. They were getting settled as I was bringing Harry some blankets and I grabbed my stomach, feeling a strong cramp. "Are you alright?" He asked and I smiled, nodding and tossing the blanket on the bed. "Just a cramp, they come and go." I said and went to walk out, until I felt a pop and water gushed down my leg. Harry freaked out and shouted for Sirius as I felt more pain in my stomach, this was it apparently.

"Sirius get in here!" he was shouting as he grabbed my hand and helped me to stay standing until Sirius ran into the room and instantly scooped me into his arms as he was firing questions at Harry about what happened. "I think the baby's coming." he said and Sirius met my eyes and I nodded, having a moment of no pain as he walked as fast as he could while calling out for Livy and Molly. Both were waiting at the bottom of the stairs, wide eyed as soon as they saw me. "Maybe I was wrong about the timing. You're not due for at least another month. But bring her in here Sirius." Molly was saying as she held the door open for him. Livy and her had prepped a room for me to deliver at home, so Sirius could be with me.

**Hours Later**

"Alright, it's time to push now Phoebe, you're finally at 10cm." Molly was talking but I was huffing and shaking my head, it was so painful, I didn't want to do anything at all. "My love, you have to push. You can do it. I'm right here." I felt Sirius's hand in mine and he gave me a squeeze and a kiss as he spoke in my ear. I nodded and braced myself as I began to push, wanting to just stop and sleep, I didn't want the baby to be too soon, what if we lost him like we did our first. I wasn't ready for that. Livy was assisting Molly, both having birthed babies before and I trusted them both with my life and the life of my child. "Is something wrong?" Sirius was asking as I was groaning and trying not to scream out to worry everyone as I pushed harder.

"No, everything is fine. He is coming, just keep pushing. Almost there. Come on Phoebe, you can do it. One more big push." they were talking me through it as finally I felt release and listened hard as I fell back…come on…cry baby…please. After a few seconds that felt like hours, a cry was heard and I laughed out, tearing flowing freely from my eyes as Sirius looked between me and Molly wrapping the baby up. "Sirius, come cut the cord." he left my side and once they were finished I lifted my head up, wanting to see him. Molly passed the baby to Sirius and he brought him over, I could see the tears in his eyes also. "Phoebe, my love…he's perfect." he leaned down, showing the big squishy face of our son.

Clearly the timing was off because he was a big boy, healthy and full term, his hair was wet and dark, taking it from both his mother and father. He was crying as Sirius passed him to me and I began to shush him, gently rocking him until he was calming down. "Miss Phoebe, he's just amazing." Livy said as she wiped her tears away and was patting my shoulder. I handed the baby to Sirius as Molly said we weren't done and I needed to push the rest of it out so I could get cleaned up and then I could feed the baby. It wasn't as bad to finish up, and finally I was able to sit up in the bed and held my son close to me. He was so cute, so small, but he was healthy and I would do whatever I could to make him happy in this life.
