Naruto was currently squinting accusingly at Uchiha Sasuke, our classes 'prodigy' student. Sasuke was returning the favour, glaring at Naruto. A boy moved in his chair, accidentally knocking Naruto over. Right into Sasuke's face.

I couldn't hold in my laugher. Naruto would have gotten beaten up badly had I not sat conveniently between him and Sasuke's fan-girls. Thankfully only Sakura was able to get close enough to beat him, and while she was strong, she was also worse than I was at Taijustu so Naruto was safe from death.

Iruka began "Each of you will be split up into three-man squads, however since we have an odd number of graduates one team will receive an extra member. Tea-" Iruka continued on, listing each team until finally, "Team 7, Uchiha Sasuke, Haruno Sakura, Uzumaki Naruto and Sukiyaki Kuro." Naruto's outburst at each name was quite entertaining, the complete opposite to Sasuke's simple grunts of disapproval at being on a team at all.

Everyone else left as their new sensei came to pick them up. Even Iruka left, except we didn't, we just had to wait till our sensei arrived. Naruto ended up getting bored so I helped him set up a prank for our new sensei. I doubt it'll work but, it was fun to set up. A simple trap, the chalk eraser was suspended in the doorframe and would fall when the door opened. Sakura opposed the idea, but did nothing to stop us, and Sasuke stared ahead, watching from the corner of his eye.

I read a book while we continued waiting for another fifteen minutes. When he finally arrived, the trap actually worked! "My first thoughts on you?... I hate you." Fair enough.

We where told to head to the roof, then to tell each other about ourselves. Naruto asked him to begin and show us how it's done. "I'm Hatake Kakashi. Things I like and things I hate... I don't feel like telling you that. My dreams for the future... never really thought about it. As for my hobbies... I have lots of hobbies." So... He told us his name.

Next up was Naruto, "My name is Uzumaki Naruto! I like instant ramen! What I like even better is when Iruka-sensei treats me to ramen at Ichiraku's! I hate the three minute wait after I pour in the boiling water." He took a determined expression "My dream is to become the next hokage!!! And then everyone will have to acknowledge me!" I hope that's true Naruto, I really do.

Next up was Sasuke, "I'm Uchiha Sasuke. There are lots of things I hate. There is almost nothing I like. It's pointless to talk about 'dreams' that's just a word... But what I do have is an ambition. I will restore my clan. And there is someone I have sworn to kill." Ok... That was chilling. I hope its not Naruto. And by the look on his face I think he agrees with me. Of course, Sakura is blushing. And Kakashi-sensei doesn't seem surprised.

Next was Sakura, I can sum her up in one word. Fan-girl. I almost feel sorry for Sasuke. Almost. Also, why does she hate Naruto? They barely talk, and when they do all he does is complement her! Kakashi looked to me with a hopeless expression, as if he expected me to be the same as Sakura.

"My name is Sukiyaki Kuro. I like training, reading and sparing with Naruto. I'm not really fond of sukiyaki" ironic, I know "but I don't really have anything I hate." Kakashi seemed relieved that I wasn't just obsessed over some boy. "my dream is to earn enough to get my own home"

"I believe we all understand each other, our formal training begins tomorrow." Excitedly Naruto asked what it was. In short, we would be partaking in a test to see if we where worthy of being shinobi and that this test had a 66% rate of failure. He then laughed at us, and upon Naruto's complaint about the graduation test told us that the graduation exam was just to weed out the hopeless.

He left us with a warning not to eat lunch tomorrow otherwise we would puke and handed us our assignment details, in kanji, which both Naruto and I still struggle with.

After we parted ways, I headed to one of my favourite places to think. The library. I stayed there late into the night, and studied any books I could find on jutsu. None of them directly taught how to perform jutsu, as this was a civilian library, but they where still useful for practicing my chakra control. I managed to suppress my chakra completely, though I don't have much in the first place. While incredibly useful for stealth, the technique would make me just as easy to notice in a crowd of civilians.

After it hit midnight, I returned to my room at the orphanage and went to sleep.

AN: Nothing to respond to yet, obviously. Serves me right for having the first three written beforehand.

Also, cheers for reading this little abomination. And I hope you enjoyed it. And enjoy its future chapters.
