Buried Treasure
A group of seagulls flew overhead, calling out as they surveyed the beach below them before going off westward as the waves washed up against the shore. Sylvester leaned his head back against the sand, his body toasty warm with only his head sticking out amongst the rest of his buried body. He felt a gentle pat on his chest region from above the sand, Pepe was laying down next to him, having buried the tuxedo cat up to his neck, the French skunk meticulously handling his craftwork as if he were in an art gallery. Sylvester yawned as he felt the tender rubbing of paws and the soft sand all around his body, closing his eyes contentedly.
"Aaaaaaaah…I didn't think it was possible to be this relaxed…" The feline purred softly, swishing the sand against his toes below.
"When you're with me, I always aim to make someone as comfortable as they can be, mon chéri", Pepe cooed from above, causing the other black and white male to open his eyes in a half-lidded expression.
"You know, you really like to play that game, don't you?" Sylvester quizzed with a raised brow.
"Whatever do you mean, mon petit chaton?" Pepe asked, slightly curious.
"You know, being all sly and charming, is that what you say to every cute guy or gal?" Sylvester pressed, his tone being slightly in jest.
"Weeeeell, it might have been something I would say to someone who knew how to catch my attention, but you are special, my dear," Pepe replied with a smile.
"Oh, and what makes me so 'special', mon cheri?" Sylvester asked in his own French accent, giving off his trademark lisp.
"It is rather simple, actually", Pepe said as he ran a finger down Sylvester's sandy body, "you have that certain aura that instills fire and passion, like the heart of a warrior that never gives up."
"Heh, if you'd ask most people, they'd say it's because I'm too stubborn or got a few screws loose", Sylvester replied in a somewhat self-deprecating manner.
"Ah, but do you see yourself as such?" Pepe quizzed, putting his paw underneath Sylvester's chin as the feline looked up, feeling a little bit timid in his response.
"Well…sometimes I do…I mean, it's not hard to see why, I do tend to get carried away with certain details if you know what I mean", Sylvester said as he looked up at the sky, watching the seagulls fly overhead. Pepe looked up as well and seemed to get what his partner meant.
"I see what you mean, but if you ask me, I believe you have other qualities that overcome your more…other traits", The skunk replied as he brushed his paw behind the tuxedo cat's head, "for one thing, what I mentioned before, and how you are practically the most comfortable thing I've ever had the pleasure of laying on", he emphasized by laying over Sylvester's covered body, bringing his nose up to the feline's big red one, "by the way, has anyone ever told you that you have the cutest little klaxonner?"
"Aaaaaaah, stop", Sylvester blushed with whatever motion he had to turn his head in the other direction, "you're just sayin' that."
"Because it is true, I would not say the things about you if they were false", Pepe purred with a gentle rub of his cheek to Sylvester's, "not to mention, you know that I would do anything to make you feel better, especially whenever you're feeling down."
"You can say that again, I've had more days of those than I could count in a lifetime", The tuxedo cat murmured with an eye roll and a slight chill, "sorry, didn't mean to spoil the mood there."
"Ah, but you did not spoil it, I know you've mentioned before about your…troubles", Pepe said with a caress to Sylvester's ear, "I don't like seeing you stressed out, not with what's bothered you before, which is why I brought you to the beach, I wanted you to have some time to just sit back, relax, and let the sound of my voice ease you…" The French male's voice seemed to do just the trick for Sylvester as he purred at the feeling, the sound of the waves adding to the experience as he felt a rare sense of relaxation.
"You know, I sometimes wonder what I did to deserve you", The feline replied as he looked up at his partner with a soft expression, "I mean, you could have had anyone in the world, someone more lavish, exotic, than just plain old me…" He trailed off as he felt Pepe's paw brush across the side of his face.
"You got me by being yourself, mon chéri, you don't need to be anything more than what you are, which is, in my eyes, un amour total", The skunk cooed as he kissed the left side of the feline's face, "not to mention, that soft fur tone that matches my own, that cute lisp of yours, and the way you overcook breakfast whenever you try to serve it instead of me." Pepe gave a teasing grin at the last bit.
"You're a real charmer, aren't you?" Sylvester replied, his tone both sarcastic and genuine at the same time. "I suppose that's why I love ya, you really get me."
"And the same can be said from me to you, mon amour," Pepe smiled as he leaned forward to plant a kiss on Sylvester's lips, feeling the feline purr through the contact with a pleasant smack of their lips as they drew back for air.
"Would you be so kind as to help out of the sand, it's nice and all, but I'd appreciate being able to move again", Sylvester requested with a grin. Pepe needed no further instructions as he set about digging out the feline below him section by section. Eventually, Sylvester felt himself about to move freely once more, wiggling the sand from his paws and toes as he stood up for the first time in what seemed like ages, stretching himself out while giving a few deliberate poses for his partner.
"Right then, my dear, shall I treat you a little ice cream, I'm sure they've got your favorite at the stand", Pepe cooed with a trail of kisses up Sylvester's arm.
"Chocolate and vanilla twist, my favorite and compliments us well", Sylvester replied with a grin as he took the chance to link his paw with Pepe's as the two set off from the site where the former had been buried and then found as a skunk's treasure.
