My first Sky High fic. I'm working on a longer chaptered story, but this just had to come out. Written while listening to Cartoon Hero's from Aqua. Now I haven't seen Superman: The Movie (The one that came out in the 70's) since I was like 10. Forgive me if the couple quotes are a bit off or the timing.
Quotes in italics are from the movie Superman. It's mostly just dialog. Doesn't really matter who says what. Some things explain themselves. Considered a bit AU since there probably was a superman in the SH universe.
"It's Kryptonite Superman! A little souvenir from your home town! You see I've spared no expense in making you feel right at home here!"
"They got it so wrong."
"I know! There isn't even a planet Krypton!"
"I don't think that's the point."
The two hero's and four hero-support's turn away from the movie that is holding them strangely riveted.
"Sure it is. That's where Superman is from."
"There is no Superman."
"How do you know?"
"We would have learned about it in history class."
They laps into silence with agreeing nods and turn back to the movie…..
"The Commander's close."
"Right colors."
"And the strength."
"My dad doesn't have x-ray vision."
"Can't fly either."
Another silence ensures and the friends watch Miss Teschmacher free Superman.
"I still don't think that's what Warren was going for."
"Has he ever stopped a speeding train?"
"Warren or The Commander?"
"…Either"
"I've set one on fire before."
The others stare at Warren who made the comment off handedly, eyes still on the movie. He looks over at them, feeling their stares.
"It was a long ride. And I was bored. It was an accident."
"Sure."
With an eye roll form the girl in purple, the movie watching resumes.
"Does you're dad get weak around kryptonite?"
"There's no such thing as kryptonite."
"We are never watching this movie again."
The group collectively nods and again turns back to the movie.
"What about Spiderman?"
"Yeah, wasn't there a Spiderman?"
"The first 'radio-active insect bite' to be enrolled in Sky High."
"I don't think his name was Spiderman though."
"I think it was a girl actually."
Another silence follows as they watch the movie, nearing it's end.
"Spiderwoman?"
"I think I slept through that unit."
"Wasn't it Arachnophobi-Man?"
"But that means it actually was a guy."
"Arachnophobi-Woman?"
"And arachnophobia means fear of spiders."
"I'd be afraid of them to if a radio active one bit me."
With respective shrugs and nods the movie watching resumes.
"Arachna?"
"Yeah! That's it!"
"Look at that! He is so stereotypical!"
Layla gestures to the movie causing Zack to start at the sudden movement.
"I thought you said we should never watch this movie again."
"Well, it's practically over. And besides, it's not really watching it again. It's just continuing to. And you guys were watching-"
"We got the idea Layla."
They turn back to finish the movie.
"This country is safe again, Superman, thanks to you."
"Don't thank me, Warden. We're all part of the same team. Good night."
Blah.
