How Long Have You Been Standing There?
Sara overhears a conversation between Nick and Greg pertaining to her. How does she react?
I'm sorry for my lack of updates… Characters not mine…
"Nick!" Greg called, watching his friend pass by the door of the break room.
The older man stepped in. "What's up, Greggo?"
He downed the rest of his coffee, tossing the cup into the trash. "I need your opinion on something."
"Girl trouble?"
"Yeah. How'd you guess?"
Nick laughed. "We all know you like Sara. You need to get over her, man, she'll never give up chasing Grissom."
Greg shrugged. "I was afraid you'd say that…"
Confused, Nick looked up. "Why?"
"It's the one thing you can't do when you love someone. I want her to be happy, even if it's not with me, but Grissom's only hurting her," he was rambling now, not realizing what he was saying.
"Hold on," Nick said, temporarily silencing the ex-lab rat. "Love?"
Greg nodded. "I've loved her since I saw her. I'm talking head over heels, wake up beside me, have my babies, white picket fence love. Not one night stand kinda love." He looked down, suddenly finding his shoes rather appealing. "I love her."
Nick turned visibly pale, his eyes widened, and he cleared his throat, trying to subtly motion to Greg to turn around. It didn't work. "Oh… Sara. Hi!" he said, causing Greg to feel suddenly sick. "I'll just be going now."
Greg slowly turned around in his swivel chair, gulping as he came face to face with Sara. She waited until Nick was safely out of earshot before she spoke. "What did I just hear you say?" she asked, her arms crossed over her chest.
He gulped. "That depends: How long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough."
'I'm dead.' He thought as she advanced on him. He prepared himself to be slapped, disemboweled, castrated, killed, or otherwise dealt with, in any manner she desired after over-hearing what he'd said.
Instead, she leaned in, kissing him quickly. Greg's arms instinctively wrapped around her waist, hers going around his neck. Their kiss was broken just as soon as it had started, but it was a kiss none the less. Sara smiled at him, heading back toward the door.
"I love you, too."
That's it. Just a short little thing. My plot bunnies seem to be hibernating, probably due to the lack of Greg in the new CSI eps… Review!
