Ch 2: Duty Calls

Rose Ortiz was in her Overdrive Jeep, driving down the highway, on her way to the GSA Spaceport.

Classic hits from the 1990's filled the air and Rose was bopping her head to the rockin' tunes.

In the passenger seat, rested her pink duffle bag that contained all of her Overdrive tech.

Rose has always loved science, inventing, and tinkering practically from the time she started crawling.

At her day job, she works as the lead scientist at Hartford Robotics, an advanced technologies corporation.

Allowing her to focus her mental skills on challenging and important research that in its own way made a difference.

She was put in charge of the J-Borg v.2 project and was proud of the progress her team had made so far.

It had taken several years, a government contract, and two breakthroughs in robotics to bring them to the point where they are today.

She was in the process of doing research when her phone lit up with a call from her boss, Andrew Hartford.

She wasn't told much except that she was selected for a mission involving Pink Rangers and to report to the GSA Spaceport for further details.

Her mind raced with the possibilities of what this mission could entail. It sounded dangerous though.

Suddenly, her dashboard beeped for her attention. She was receiving an incoming message.

Rose tapped a button on her dash display, accepting the video chat request.

A grainy holographic projection of Andrew Hartford popped up over her dashboard. He greeted her with his handsome smile.

"Hey Rose, I only got a minute," his voice filtered through. "Just wanted to wish you good luck on your mission."

Rose smiled graciously at him. "Thank you, Mister Hartford,"

"Yeah - Oh, and before I forget," he added. "I need for you to stop by Dinohenge on your way to the spaceport. It's a prehistoric monument, located in Pine Ridge."

Rose raised her voice to be heard over the rush of wind and the engine. "What's at Dinohenge?"

"Another Pink Ranger. I am sending you her information now. Find Dinohenge and you'll find your Pink Ranger. Take care, and may the power protect you."

The projection winked out, and Rose wore a dubious expression. "Dinohenge?" she murmured.

A ping of curiosity radiates through her entire mind and body.

"Eff it," she told herself.

With a small shrug, Rose pushed down on the gas pedal, picking up down the highway.

To the people of Pine Ridge and the outside world, Dinohenge was just an old historical landmark. But there was much more to Dinohenge than met the eye. It was the most technologically advanced area of Pine Ridge. Because under the dinosaur statues lay hidden an underground command center. The home of the Dino Fury Power Rangers.

In the surrounding woods of Dinohenge, Amelia Jones was busy sparring with her Dino Fury friends.

They were all grunting and yelling.

Until an eager voice interrupted their sparring session.

"Excuse me, Amelia Jones?"

Startled, Amelia spun around to see a dark-eyed, dark-haired slender woman clad in a fitted uniform. She was posted in front of a sleek silver-and-yellow jeep.

She met her gaze with a warm smile.

Amelia approached cautiously, "Uh hi." she chuckled nervously, "What can I do you for?"

"Amelia Jones, Pink Dino Fury Ranger?"

Amelia stopped dead in her tracks.

Zayto, Ollie, Izzy, and Javi had exchanged glances.

Amelia folds her arms over her chest and shifts all her weight to one hip.

"How do you know who I am?" she asked as the woman moved closer.

"I'm Rose Oritz, Operation Overdrive. Pink Ranger." She replied in a bubbly voice. She revealed her Overdrive Tracker to Amelia. "I was sent to recruit you on an important mission," Rose's voice grew dire. "The fate of the entire Earth is at stake. We need your help."

Amelia looked perplexed."Who's 'we'?"

"Legendary Pink Rangers of the past," Rose responded. "They're counting on us, Amelia. And time is a luxury we don't have."

Without much thought, Amelia gave her a nod of acceptance.

Rose returned the nod.
