(A/N) Hero names! I honestly went with the first thing that came to mind for Momo, which isn't her canon one because it's kinda ridiculous. These next two or so chapters are a little short, but it's all I could get the chapter to do, so… Oh well.
The next day started out calmly, or as calmly as it could get.
"Where did you guys even get this book?" Momo asked Toru curiously, having borrowed a book from the shelves as they left that morning. Hitoshi had seen the book before of course, it was kind of shiny and gold so of course he had, but he hadn't read it. It looked like it was on Egypt? It was an odd book to have now that he thought about it.
"Oh my dad had this really weird fascination with Egypt and it's even older mythology, so we have a bunch of random books from his childhood. They're all super cool, even if it's kind of confusing sometimes." Toru shrugged. "Oh, it's almost time for homeroom, better put that away."
Momo nodded, closing the book and sliding it back into her backpack. "It is really interesting though."
"I like to think about the fact that the gods could reappear and no one would bat an eye at them," Toru said, snickering.
Hitoshi considered it. Sure people might be a bit skeptical if people started claiming they were gods, but yeah no one would really bat an eye, not in this day of quirks. He then remembered something he remembered reading somewhere about most greek myths being because Zeus banged some poor woman and decided it was probably a bad idea to have the gods come back at any point.
"We don't need Zeus of Greek mythology coming back and banging everything that moves, usually unwillingly," Momo said, incidentally voicing what Hitoshi had been thinking about. "Although perhaps with our current system he'd actually be convicted."
"He'd better be or I will personally make it my mission to punch him in the face, heroics be blasted," Mashirao said firmly.
Hitoshi opened his mouth to agree, but the door opened and he shut it again in a hurry. Mashirao, Momo, and Toru shifted to hide him from Aizawa, or maybe they were hiding Aizawa from him. Either way didn't really matter he supposed.
"In your seats," Aizawa barked, and Momo, Mashirao, and Toru reluctantly dispersed to their seats. Hitoshi kept his eyes down and his mouth shut as Aizawa informed them they needed to pick hero names. What could he even pick for that?
Midnight came in, and Hitoshi's stomach clenched, and his jaw locked. Momo shot him a concerned look, quickly followed by Toru and Mashirao. He shook his head stiffly.
"Midnight'll be judging your hero names, since I'm not good at that sort of thing. It's her choice as to whether you'll need a new one or not. Remember that picking them now you'll probably be stuck with them forever, as it's very difficult to change them."
Hitoshi's eye was drawn by movement in the corner of his eye. Mashirao signed at him 'That's probably how he got stuck with Eraserhead.'
Hitoshi blinked, unable to force himself to smile at that, but gave a thumbs up. Mashirao grinned at him, unbothered.
"Alright everyone! Get a whiteboard and start brainstorming!" Midnight shouted.
"I'll grab you one," Toru whispered, patting his shoulder as she passed.
A whiteboard plopped down on his desk a moment later, Toru giving him a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. "I'll think of a couple for you, since you're pretty bad at naming things."
Hitoshi managed a brief nod.
Momo went up to the front a moment later. "Creation hero Ma'at."
"Egyptian goddess of order and creation," Midnight said approvingly. "A good name. I approve."
Momo dipped her head, but didn't smile.
"Nice name!" Toru whispered to Momo. "Super cool."
Hitoshi managed to nod agreement. Momo smiled genuinely at them. "Thank you, it means a lot."
Toru and Mashirao went with Invisible Girl and Tail-man respectively, neither were as cool as Momo's, but they were cool anyway.
"Can I see your board Hitoshi?" Toru asked.
Hitoshi handed the whiteboard to her, thankful his limbs were unlocking. His jaw wasn't yet, but that would probably be a while.
She scribbled something on it, then put it back on his desk. It read 'Nightshade'
"Nightshade is a poisonous plant," Toru explained. "Plus the night and the shade thing. It's a good underground hero name!"
Hitoshi kind of liked it. It was neat. He just really didn't want to go up near Midnight and Aizawa.
Toru held it up for him. "Hitoshi's doing the name Nightshade!"
"Good name," Midnight praised. "Although I would've preferred if he said it himself. It's passed anyway."
"There, now we're all done," Toru said cheerfully, patting his shoulder as she set the board back down.
Hitoshi signed a quick thank you at her. She smiled back.
Iida joined them for lunch again, and this time, so did Todoroki, weirdly. Hitoshi was cautious about Todoroki, he'd been right there and hadn't bothered to help Bakugo, or even looked bothered that Bakugo was muzzled. Iida was safer, apparently set to be married to Momo, albeit in several years. He joined them for lunch about half the time, the other half staying with his friends.
"It's good to see you both," Momo greeted both politely as they sat down.
"Of course!" Iida said, rather loudly, but that was typical for Iida. Hitoshi was getting used to it slowly. "I do love the hero name you have selected! Both you and Shinso!"
"Thank you," Momo said, smiling. "I figured it matched. In more way than one."
"I thought of Hitoshi's," Toru said proudly. "I figured it sounds like a super cool underground hero name, and it doesn't give anything about his quirk!"
"It fits well!" Iida agreed. "I commend you for thinking of it!"
"Couldn't have used any of that thought for your own name?" Mashirao remarked, grinning.
"As you're called Tail-man," Toru shot back. "You do not get to say anything about uncreative names."
"Point," Mashirao conceded.
(A/N) A little short, but alright. Okay! So schedule spots are open! Link: /tHVJ7FVyxsL9v8Sa8
