(A/N) Okay to be frank, I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing with the final exams, so expect them to be skipped through and just have a vague recap with the kits afterward.
Momo had taken to wearing gloves. Hitoshi noticed it as soon as they all came back from their internships. He wasn't sure why, but he figured he'd find out eventually. She'd probably tell them, right?
There were a few other odd things, anytime anyone mentioned what happened in Hosu or a quirk got involved she looked almost sick, and she had to stop hanging out with them one afternoon a week for therapy. Toru seemed to know what was going on since she looked sad every time it happened, slumping and making a face.
Final exams were fast approaching so they were studying more often then they weren't, Momo being around the top of the class academically helped them study a lot while also helping the rest of the class when needed.
Toru's mom took the large amount of teenagers cycling in and out of her house with grace, drawing Hitoshi into the kitchen to help her make some snacks if he started getting overwhelmed. How she knew it was happening every single time, Hitoshi couldn't tell.
They were fighting the teachers. The final exams had them fighting the teachers.
Hitoshi almost had a panic attack right there as they announced it. If he used his quirk on them, they'd probably realize how terrible it was and expel him from the hero course if he was lucky, muzzle him for the rest of his time in school if he wasn't. If he didn't use it he'd probably fail, he wasn't near the standard of the rest of the class, despite the fact he was working on catching up, no matter how slowly it was going because of years of malnourishment. If he failed he could also be expelled.
While he was absorbed in the anxiety, he'd apparently been drawn to the side by Momo, since everyone else was a little ways off.
"We're paired against Snipe," Momo said soothingly. "He wasn't one of the teachers involved in the Bakugo incident, he'd been at the school with the rest of the students, he wasn't even aware."
That did help slightly, made it so there was a higher chance he was less okay with the muzzle thing. Not an inordinate help, but it was a bit.
"It seems like they paired up students with similar problems," Momo continued, probably mostly just speaking to herself. "But in the end who knows. It could've been random."
She started fiddling with her gloves, tugging on them enough to reveal a strip of bruised skin on her arm. Hitoshi zeroed in on it. What had happened there? Why was her arm so bruised. It looked almost purple, barely healing, probably new.
Hitoshi gently and slowly reached forward and grabbed her arm, carefully pushing up her sleeve a bit. The bruising continued up her forearm as far as he could tell.
"Oh, that's nothing Hitoshi, not something to worry about. It's healing."
He pushed it a bit more insistently, and she sighed, pulling her arm out and unbuttoning the bottoms of her sleeves, pushing them up to above her elbows. The gloves didn't come off, but it was enough. Purple bruising covered her forearms, barely stopping at her elbows.
"It happened at Hosu," Momo admitted quietly. "It's healing. Recovery Girl couldn't fix it because it's quirk induced. So I have to wait until it heals on its own. I'm putting pain killing bruise cream on it any time it hurts and that's helping. It's alright."
Hitoshi didn't dare touch them. He trusted her if she said they were healing, but they looked too fresh to be from the internships, which had been a week or two ago.
"Recovery Girl's not sure why they're healing so slowly," Momo said, running a hand down one arm. "There were hairline fractures in the bones that she was able to fix, but the dark coloring has remained."
Hitoshi wasn't a healer so he couldn't tell anything, but it seemed weird to him. He knew how bruises healed, and that wasn't it.
"Recovery Girl's bringing in a comrade with a diagnostic quirk to see if she can figure out what's wrong," Momo added, pulling down her sleeves. "But that isn't the issue. Snipe is long range, neither of us is really."
"Got to get him close," Hitoshi signed. It was really the only option. They had to lure him in closer.
"Can't let him flank us either," Momo agreed. "How could we get him in close though?"
Hitoshi didn't know.
"I'm honestly impressed you can imitate my voice that well," Momo panted after they finished escaping through the gate, leaving Snipe in a brainwashed state behind them.
Hitoshi shrugged. Not a trait he usually displayed that he could do, but it came in handy sometimes.
"Toru is so going to want you to imitate her," Momo added, laughing breathlessly. Not that Hitoshi was any better, he was exhausted from the running they'd done. "Or want you to help her prank someone, probably Todoroki."
Ah yes, Todoroki. Like Iida he was a not infrequent person at their table, although he didn't seem to know how to interact with anyone. Toru seemed intent on pranking him to amke him show emotion or something, but her efforts had yet to be successful.
"I will look out for it," Hitoshi said, imitating Todoroki's voice. It was easier to speak if he was imitating a voice, easier to pass it off as someone else. Less risk.
Momo started cracking up for some reason, wheezing quietly. Well at least she was laughing, Hitoshi was pretty sure he hadn't seen her do that in a while.
(A/N) Do I know what's up with Momo's arms? ...No. Would I like to know? Yes. Will I ever know? Probably not. Sorry for not posting yesterday apparently the wifi completely shut off for some reason at midnight and I somehow barely missed it so I couldn't post at all.
