(A/N) Camp! I'm sorry if it seems like I'm rushing through this bit(I am) I'm just not at all familiar with this area of plot, so I'm a lot more hesitant. Sorry if it's slightly lower quality cuz of that haha. If I didn't really really have to do kamino and stuff that follows, I wouldn't be doing this. I have learned my lesson regarding this. Not that I'm starting more MHA fics anyway.
Momo had insisted on accompanying them on the short shopping trip they did before the class one, having decided to opt out of that. Honestly, Hitoshi just really didn't want to have to interact with both the class, and have to deal with the mall in general, so he was grateful they were going a day or two before instead of then.
Momo had also very insistently paid for everything, maintaining the excuse she had literally nothing else to do with her apparently sizable allowance. Hitoshi really wasn't sure about this, but Toru and Momo pretty much dragged him into it anyway so he decided not to question it too much. Mashirao didn't seem to be questioning it either, just acting slightly exasperated but never in Hitoshi's direction. He wasn't sure what to make of this, but he accepted any bags that were handed to him. Mashirao was similarly roped into holding bags, although he didn't seem to mind.
He sure hoped they had everything they needed in the end since honestly he really didn't want to go back to the mall. The store was fine. The mall, not so much. It was loud and usually kind of cramped and that wasn't fun.
But now it was over and he shouldn't have to go back.
Now he just had to consciously pretend that he didn't know they were all going to be squished in on a bus with the teachers for several hours at least. This would be fine.
They were loaded onto the bus early in the morning, at an hour Hitoshi's body did not appreciate him being awake at, so he honestly remembered nothing between waking up and sluggishly getting dressed, and waking up on the bus when they stopped and got off the bus for some reason.
"Good morning sleepyhead, feeling better?" Toru asked cheerily, as she was apparently sitting next to him. He straightened up a bit and looked around quickly, finding Momo and Mashirao sitting on the seat next to them.
"We figured you'd rather sit at the back and next to a window," Momo explained, leaning around Mashirao to smile at him. "We shouldn't be getting off for anything big. I hope."
They shuffled off the bus with everyone else anyway, standing in a loose cluster away from Aizawa.
Momo looked over the side of the cliff cautiously. "At least it's a nice view?"
Some exclamation from over near the teachers had Hitoshi jumping and curling in on himself in fright. Nothing happened for a moment, then the earth cracked and split, dumping the entire class off the side of the cliff.
Toru and Momo both screamed, along with most of the rest of the class.
It wasn't a long fall, and everyone ended up in a rough pile at the bottom.
"Anyone hurt?" Momo asked after a second of groans. "Like seriously hurt?"
Hitoshi patted himself down, experimentally flexing his wrists and ankles. Nope, he was good. He gave Momo a hands up, and she looked relieved.
"Just scrapes," was the consensus from most of the class.
"What's that noise?" Midoriya asked cautiously.
Everyone turned to the forest, and were greeted with shambling earth monsters.
"Everyone vote we punch Aizawa when we get back?" Mashirao asked tiredly, raising a hand.
Hitoshi was on board as long as he wasn't anywhere nearby when it happened, so he raised his hand too.
Most of the class also raised their hands, and if that wasn't indicative of the building resentment, Hitoshi didn't know what was.
"We have to reach the camp itself!" Iida declared loudly, running forward and kicking through one of the muddier monsters. "I overheard Aizawa mention that the camp was west of here! Might anyone know which way is west?"
"It's not past noon yet," Midoriya spoke up quickly. "We should be walking with the sun at our backs for a while."
"At least we have something to take the frustration out on!" Toru chirped, running forward and punching one of the monsters. It absorbed her hand up to her forearm, and she sighed in disappointment. "Maybe I'll stick with the rockier ones."
"Use your legs and elbows on them and target joints," Mashirao advised. "It'll keep your hands from getting some broken bones."
"I'll restrict usage of my quick for should we need it to bandage injuries," Momo said firmly. "It's our best bet just in case."
"Good thinking Yaoyorozu!" Iida praised, pausing to do...something, a monster behind him about to whack him, only to be exploded by Bakugo.
"LESS TALKING MORE FIGHTING!" Bakugo shouted, explosions popping several times.
They did eventually reach camp, although Momo was exhausted and most people had at least one large bandage on their person, including Hitoshi, who'd gotten a long gash down his left leg kicking one of the monster's legs out from under it. He'd succeeded, despite the cut, and he was proud of himself for that one.
It hadn't even been that deep or anything of a gash, but Momo had insisted they pause and bandage it with some medical paste anyway. Like she had for all the other injuries the class as a whole collected.
"You made it just in time for dinner!" Pixie Bob said. The only reason Hitoshi could tell them apart was because he had done his internship here.
"I'll take it despite the extremely rude dumping off a cliff with no warning," Toru decided, grabbing Hitoshi's wrist and dragging him to the tables where everyone else was finding seats. "Looks good!"
"At this point, anything looks good," Mashirao commented dryly between mouthfuls.
Hitoshi had to agree as he too ate about as much as he was currently able to handle.
Momo didn't even speak, too busy working her way through as much as she could get her hands on. Considering she did a lot and hadn't even loaded up on calories beforehand, it wasn't surprising. She ate a lot of food for fueling her quirk. She could probably eat Hitoshi's weight in food in a day, if not twice his weight if she was using her quirk a lot.
What were they even supposed to be doing at this camp anyway?
Well, they'd probably figure it out tomorrow. He could wait until then.
Quirk training. They were doing quirk training. Hitoshi regretted waking up. He regretted it anyway, since they woke everyone up just a bit earlier than he usually woke up, so his body didn't appreciate the break in the schedule it had decided it was sticking to because of the intervention of the medication for insomnia.
"Shinso," Aizawa said, staring right at him. Hitoshi grabbed Toru's hand and gripped it tightly to avoid cowering away. "You'll be with Mandalay trying to extend how long you can hold someone under in normal circumstances. It was her suggestion, so if you want to work on something else, bring it up with her."
Hitoshi was not in fact going to bring it up with her, but it wasn't the worst thing to be working on.
"This way Shinso!" Mandalay said cheerfully, beckoning him off towards the cliffside of the woods. "There'll be more people working over here so we can see how you fare with distractions."
Hitoshi somewhat reluctantly let go of Toru's hand and followed the pro hero off to the side. She handed him a timing thing once he reached her, presumably so he could time how long he held her under.
"Alright. I'm not going to make it too easy to ensnare me, I won't really respond to direct questions unless provoked to, so do your best to make a response and ensnare me anyway! Villains aren't always going to make it easy on you!"
Hitoshi brought up the memory of how Pixie Bob sounded, swallowed quickly, tilted his head up a bit, and mimicked her voice when he asked the question. "Mandalay's a cat breed isn't it?" He didn't quite get it right, but he hadn't practiced her voice before, so it was a good first try.
"Huh?" Mandalay asked in shock, immediately falling under his control. Hitoshi tapped the start button for the timer and sat down to wait. To be fair she hadn't heard him imitate someone before, so it wasn't surprising she'd gotten confused when he did it and accidentally responded. It was neat he'd gotten it on the first try though.
Through the trees he could see Mashirao and Kirishima squaring up to fight, and although he couldn't see Toru, he assumed she was working on something somewhere else.
Momo was talking with Aizawa, probably about what she'd be doing, so he watched them for a while. Maybe this training would be more boring than he thought.
(A/N) For those not on the discord server:
After the dumping off a cliff and getting to camp:
Momo: trying to consume her body weight in food in one sitting(and mostly succeeding)
Momo at camp in general: doing very well consuming more then enough for at least three people at each meal because she's using her quirk an inordinate amount
Also camp Momo after training session: I could eat a raw boar I'm so hungry
Bakugo, trying to cook: moves the raw meat further away from her
