(Nurse's Office)

Soon enough, the lady called for Ponyboy to come to the nurse's office. Bexley was already in there, waiting on Ponyboy. When he did get in there, he saw Bexley waiting in the nurse's office. Bexley looked back at him, a hint of guilt in her eyes.

"I'm sorry, Pony. But I had to." Bexley said bluntly. Surprisingly, Ponyboy wasn't mad at his sister for doing what he didn't want her to do. "It's fine, Bexley. Don't worry about it." Ponyboy wheezed, laying down on the bed. Bexley sat down next to him, making it her mission to not leave his side.

"I know you told me not to tell Darry about this, but I saw how worse you were getting. You wouldn't make it through the rest of the day. I just wanted to make sure that you'd make it home safely. If you are mad at me, then I understand." Bexley said in guilt. Ponyboy couldn't be angry with his sister. He knew that she was just looking out for him.

"B...Bex. I'm not angry. I know I said to not call Darry but… I'm glad that you said something." Ponyboy said, taking her hand into his pasty white one. Compared to hers, it was cold as ice. Bexley looked at her twin brother, surprised that he wasn't angry with her.

"But what about track practice? You said you couldn't afford to miss it." Bexley asked, knowing that he wanted to make track practice today. "I know what I said. And I realized that I wouldn't make it. The coach won't kick me out if he knows I'm sick." Pony sighed.

(At Darry's Work)

Darry was busy bringing up roofing materials to the roof of a house he was working on. When he got the roofing material up there, his boss called for him. "Curtis, you got a call. Says it's important." his boss called.

Darry wondered who could be calling him at this time. Then, he got to thinking that it was one of his sibling's callings. He remembered that he did instruct either Ponyboy or Bexley to call if anything happened. "Alright, just a moment," Darry says, climbing down the ladder.

He walked over to his boss and took the phone and brought the phone up to his ear. "Hello?" the 20-year-old asked into the phone. "Mr. Curtis? Your sister has come to the principal's office to inform us that your kid brother is sick. I'd advise you to come to pick him up and take him home." the nurse, Ms. Samson, said on the phone.

"What about my kid sister? Is she sick too?" Darry wondered worryingly. "No. She's fine. But she has said she won't go back until your kid brother is home safe." Ms. Samson said. Darry grinned when he heard this. He knew that Bexley wouldn't leave Pony's side. She's got the most loyalty out of all of them.

"Alright. I'll be there soon." Darry said. He knew that whenever one of his siblings is sick, it's really bad.

(At the school, in the nurse's office)

Ponyboy had fallen asleep on the nurse's bed with Bexley by his side. The nurse had taken his temperature a little bit ago; he was at 101.4. He needed to go home while he was sick. Bexley rested her head against the bed with her arms crossed. She didn't realize that she had fallen asleep also.

(At Darry's Work)

Darry was getting ready to go pick Ponyboy up and he was approached by his boss. The middle-aged man patted the 20-year-old on the shoulder, getting the young man to look at him. "We'll finish up here. Go get your brother." the man said, giving him a sympathetic smile.

Darry was glad that his boss understood just how much he cared for his siblings. Darry jumped in his truck and sped off of the construction site. He had to pick Soda up and take him with him because Pony wouldn't cooperate with just him.

(At the DX)

Soda was working at the counter when he saw Darry's truck pull up. He ran around the counter and ran outside to meet his older brother. "What's going on, Dar?" the sandy-haired Greaser asked worriedly. He couldn't help but feel worried.

"It's Ponyboy. He's sick. We gotta go get him." Darry said. Soda went pale and he tried not to throw up right in front of his older brother. "What's the matter, Pepsi-Cola?" Darry asked, helping Soda regain his balance. "I knew it. Bexley and I both knew that something was wrong with him. But he said he was fine." Soda said, feeling guilty that he didn't say anything before.

Soda ran back to where his boss was. "What's wrong, Curtis?" his boss asked, looking up at him. "It's a family emergency. My kid brother is sick." Soda said. His boss grinned at him and told Soda that he can leave since it was slow that day.

"Family's important. Go ahead and get to your brother," he says. "Thank you. Thank you so much." Soda said before running out of the DX and into Darry's truck before they sped off to the school.
