...
Don't be mad.
So, a lot of things have changed. A lot of ideas for this story has changed. Hana Freeces is still a character that I love and want to continue creating her.
So... here is the thing... I made this chapter... 10 TIMES! And you wanna what happened... the sight either crashed or it didn't save!... I don't know what happened but I felt like I was getting stressed over it which is kinda made me want to take a break from this story. I took a week off... a month... 4 more months... now officially a year... and then I created different stories and that wasn't fair to you guys who loved the Hana in this story.
I hope this story makes it up as an apology. Also, please support me in my other stories. Enjoy.
I do not own Hunter X Hunter.
Chapter 13
Recap
Gon trying to calm us down but all we did was glare at each other. We glared at each other butting head for me to feel something soft on my lips. We stop for me to finally realize just how incredibly close we were. I felt the heat to my cheeks as I backed away from Killua.
"A-Anyway," I spoke up trying to change this weird atmosphere, "we need to start training." I walked past Gon and Killua for them to follow me, "We just have to find a place where to train and become stronger."
"There's somewhere we can train and earn money at the same time," Killua replies for us to stop and look at him, "The Heavens Arena?"
"Heavens Arena?" I question.
"Yeah, I'll explain later," Killua replies, "We should get moving."
We start running into the building to go into the limp to fly to the place that Killua calls Heavens Arena.
The blimp took us high in the air towards the highest building we have ever seen. The building looked strange. It wasn't straight but it wasn't crooked either. It was a huge white building that was layered with different parts of the building. It looked busy.
"Look it's huge!" Gon declares grabbing on my arm excitedly.
"Yes," Killua agrees with a smile on his face, "That's the Heaven's Arena." I glanced at Killua noticing him having a nostalgic look, "It has 251 stories and it's 991 meters tall. The world's fourth-tallest building."
Gon stares outside the window with a big smile on his face. He was entranced by how big it was but I knew he was mainly excited for training.
"Well, this is the tallest building we have ever seen so that makes it the first for us, right Gon?" I question for him to nod his head.
The blimp landed in front of the building for us to grab our stuff waiting for everyone else to leave before we get off.
"I used up all my money on the trip fare," Killua announces, "We'll have to make more here. After we disembark, we'll start from zero."
Gon nodded his head in understanding while I sighed. These two may be excited about training but I've honestly had enough. I met Killua's bloodthirsty family, went on a ride with a savage yet adorable giant wolf, then I met a girl that disappeared without giving me her name, and... above all else... I lost my first kiss to Killua! Killua Zoldyack! I can already hear all the jokes that Killua is going to say. He is going to tease me about it. These guys don't know when stop and relax for a second. Please... I do not want to battle Hisoka right now because I don't want to hear anything about the spiders.
"Come on Hana. Let's go!" Gon shouts, dragging me along behind them.
Gon pulled me in line that extended around the building. It felt like this was going to take a couple of hours.
"There is still a long line. Is everyone going to Heaven's Arena?" Gon questions.
"There aren't any conditions here, unlike the Hunter exam," Killua replies turning to face us with a smile, "You just have to defeat your opponents." Gon tilts his head amazed, "The high you go, the more prize money you earn. This is as good as it gets for those who are looking to make a living with their fists."
I glanced in front of us with the long line for a chilling feeling that came up my spine. I surveyed the area searching for any wandering eye but found nobody.
"Hana, is everything okay? You seem tense," Gon asks worriedly.
I stared at my brother after a few seconds of finding nobody shaking my head, "No I thought I felt someone staring at me but it must have been my imagination."
"Ever since you told us about your occurrence with..." Killua stopped himself, "'him'. You seem to be more on edge than normal."
I nodded my head in agreement, "I don't try to be but it's scary when you know someone is wanting to join a group that could potentially be harmful to others."
Gon and Killua's face turned serious nodding their head in an agreement. We have to talk very carefully when speaking about the Phantom Troup, Hisoka, and Chrollo Lucifer because anyone could be a part of that group. Anyone could be a watcher from the outside that we don't even know.
"Welcome to Heaven's Arena," The front desk lady greeted handing us a piece of paper, "Please fill out this form." We did as we were told for her to grab the paper and put our name on the computer, "Killua Zoldyck, you are 2054. Gon Freecss, you are 2055. Hana Freecss, you are 2056. They'll call your number on the first floor of the arena. So make sure you remember it. Please go on ahead." She instructs pointing to do the door on our left.
We gave our thanks to the lady then walked inside the room that was filled with people. People on the benches watching the fights in the arena below. They all seemed very strong and the shoutings were taking over senses. We moved down sitting on a bench that was close to showing all of the actions.
"It's been a while," Killua sighs happily sitting down. "But the place hasn't changed."
Gon and I sit down next to each for us to look at him confused.
"Have you been here before?" Gon questions.
Killua nodded his head, "Yes, when I was six. My dad left me here without a penny." The image of his father appeared in my mind making me shiver. Remind me to never get on that man's bad side. "He said I should reach the 200th floor before coming home. It took two years."
While Gon stares at him fascinated, I stare at Killua with sadness. He wanted to be a normal kid with friends but even at an early age, he was always made to be pointed as the best. He was the son of a proud assassin family. And he was their prodigy.
"Number 1973. Number 2055. Please enter Ring E."
The monitor announced having Gon quickly stand in alarm. We didn't expect him to be called that soon but he is up. Before Gon left, Killua whispered something in Gon ear which surprised him. He nodded his head, patted my head, then walked off down leaving Killua and me alone.
...
It was quiet between us. No one dared to move or say anything.
"Hana," Killua spoke up making me jump.
"Y-yes?" I responded quickly looking at him.
He was already staring at me. His stare was making me feel self-conscious and a little embarrassed. How long has he been staring at me? Why is he staring at me? Hurry up and saying something!
"About what happened before-"
"Ah, that!" I shouted, cutting him off waving my hands in front of me. "Don't worry about it. It was only an accident, right? We got heated up at the moment and weren't thinking, right? No feelings attached right?" I laughed rubbing the back of my head.
"And if I said there were feelings attached. What would you do?" Killua says quietly.
My eyes widen staring at him. My mouth felt dry and I had the urge to lick my lips. My heart was racing with my body feeling hot. The jacket I was wearing was light so there was no reason for me to feel hot. His stare at me was so intense that I didn't pay attention to Gon's match. Thankfully, my number was called with the number 1943. I rushed out of this having Killua watching over my bag and clapping Gon's hand in a job well done.
Killua has feelings for me? But I don't even know the first thing about having a feeling for someone. Besides we are only 12 years old.
I shook my head, getting those thoughts out of my head as I battled a man that was 6 foot and built. The judge explained how it works allowing us to fight. He threw a punch for me to grab it and pulled him over my shoulder and out of the ring into the wall, knocking him out. I won that battle allowing me to the 50th floor. Killua's number was next and of course, he won. Gon shouted with excitement for Killua winning while I stared at him. He turned back to stare at us for his eyes to linger mainly at me. I quickly looked away flustered at being caught staring at him.
Killua was dangerous... dangerous...
Suddenly, we heard screaming to see another kid around our age beat a strong appointment. This kid was wearing a martial arts with red buzz-cut hair and brown eyes. This was going to be interesting.
"The Heaven's Arena is divided into classes, each compromised of ten floors. So after someone defeats an opponent in the 50s, they advance to the 60s. If they lose, then they'd drop back to the 40s." The elevator lady explains.
"So, that's how it works," Gon comments.
"Plus..." The boy from the arena speaks up, "I've heard that after you pass the 100th floor, you'll get your room!" We turned to look at him confused but he only smiled, "I forgot to introduce myself. 'Osu' My name is Zushi. What about you guys?"
"Killua."
"I'm Gon. Nice to meet you."
I waved softly, "Hana."
We finally made it to the 50th floor while my brother and Killua talked with Zushi about the fight. It was kind of boring listening to their conversation. However, someone clapping far from behind us caught our attention. We all turned seeing the man Zushi calls Master.
"You adhered to my teachings," He compliments Zushi with a smile
This guy has black hair that looks quite messy with big rounded glasses. His shirt is light pink with one side sticking out while the other neatly tucked in and wearing charcoal pants with ash grey belt and finally wearing some opaque white shoes. He seems like a messy character.
"I am honored!" Zushi bows in respect. "Master, your shirt isn't tucked in."
"Oh, sorry about that," Master apologizes embarrassed tucking back in. Then he turns his focus on us, "Who are they?"
"Oh, these are Killua, Gon, and Hana," Zushi replies staring at us.
Master bows politely, "Nice to meet you. I'm Wing."
Killua and Gon copied Zushi with the 'Osu' while mentally face palming myself for being stuck with them. I can tell that even Wing was surprised by the sudden use of that but he was kind to laugh it off.
"I didn't expect to meet other children. Why are you here?" Wing asked tilting his head in question.
"Let's see," Killua starts, "Well, we want to become stronger."
"Correction, you two want to become stronger. I want to master Light," I stopped him crossing my arms.
Killua glares at me besides Gon, "And for you to master that sword of yours. You need to get stronger Hana."
"Just because you think battling someone makes you stronger doesn't mean it works for everyone Killua," I argued back glaring at him.
We glare at each other with Gon looking between us nervously on what to say.
"Now now." Wing speaks up calmly, "No reason to get into an argument. We're all friends here right?"
By that question, I stopped glaring at Killua to fully look at him. Then I looked away from him facing the wall finding it more interesting than him right now.
"That's right. Just friends," I replied hoping Killua got the message.
"Liar," Someone whispers but I know who.
"Anyway, if you're up here, you must be fairly skilled," Wing compliments. "but you should pay strict attention to your opponent's body as well as your own."
Killua and Gon did the 'Osu' in understanding while I only nodded. We walked over to the section that gives us money from the battle. We only got 152 jennies but this only the beginning before getting even bigger money. While Killua was explaining, I was playing throwing the jenny up in the air then catch it repeating the process. I paid closed attention to the crowd around us wondering who we were going to battle next. They all looked intimidating but there are some people that I'm surprised that got to here.
"Hana?"
My eyes widen facing my left seeing that black hair from the Hunter Exam.
"Kasumi!?" I shouted surprised alarming Gon, Zushi, and Killua.
"It is you, Hana!" She laughs rushing to me hugging me. I hugged her back happy to see her, "How have you been? I thought I heard your name from the monitor."
I laugh nodding, "I've been good. Yeah, we ended up being broke so this was the only place we could go to for money. What are you doing here Kasumi?"
She rubs the back of her head embarrassed, "Unfortunately, I'm in the exact situation as you. Oh speaking of which, we should get to the girl section since our names will be called soon."
"Ah! Alright!" I turned to smile at the boy waving, "I'm gonna go with Kasumi. See you guys later."
Gon's eyes widen, "Oi Hana!"
I ignored him walking with Kasumi into the girl's section of the waiting room.
"I didn't think I would get to see you again Kasumi. How are your injuries?" I asked feeling happy to finally have a friend who is a girl for once.
She laughs nodding her head, "I thought the same thing. And don't worry. The hospital at the Hunter Exam patched me up well. Everyone that got injured is doing better and is excited for the next Hunter Exam to begin."
"Are you gonna take it again Kasumi?"
She stopped smiling looking down at the floor with a sorrowful look, "Maybe down along the line but... I'm not sure anymore."
"Why not Kasumi?"
"I never realized how dangerous that side of the world truly is until you experience it with your own eyes." She faces me with a serious look, surprising me, "Hana, the world you're in now is going to be spilled with has a lot of bloodsheds. Are you sure you want to get involved?"
That question caught me off guard for me to look down at the ground questioning myself, "To be honest, I wanted to do this because I wanted to find my father."
"Your father?"
I nodded, "But then I realized that the only reason I wanted to find him was so I can punch him in the face and say how dare you to leave your kids. What kind of father are you?" Kasumi sweat-drops at that, "Then I met some dangerous people and my life completely changed. Now I think I've become a Blacklist Hunter for the time being."
This shocked Kasumi looking at me nervously, "A Blacklist Hunter? For who?"
"Chrollo Lucifer, the leader of the Phantom Troupe."
...
The silence between us happened after that statement. It wasn't until my name for the battle from the monitor had us stop talking about that and say goodbye to each other. As I entered the battle, it was the same thing from the first one. I grabbed my opponent over my shoulder and tossed him out the field and K.O. If your opponent officially gets knocked out then you win automatically, which I did. I received my money then waited for the floor for Gon and Killua.
"You are spider even though you don't know it."See you soon, little flower." "We do expect to pick you up very soon, Hana." "Remeber Hana, I didn't give you a choice on being one of the members of a phantom troupe or not. You are a Phantom Troupe member, no matter what."
I gripped onto the letter that was filled with money glaring at the floor.
"Chrollo... Lucifer..."
"So your the girl that I was told to be searching for."
My eyes widen immediately staring at the person in front of me. This person was a short, yet tall for me, petite girl, with messy pink hair tied in a ponytail with blue eyes. She seems to be wearing a traditional-Japanese kimono.
"Though, you don't seem ready to be taken away yet."
"Taken away?" I question standing up.
She only sighs as her respond pulling a phone out of her pocket throwing the object at me. I caught it with ease but was still confused.
"My boss wasn't happy about the fact you threw it away and it ended being broken. Take care of it," She orders me rudely then walks away leaving me standing there.
Who was that? And who is this boss person? Plus I don't remember throwing anything away and being broken?
"She was pretty though..." I whispered.
The elevator door next to me ringed revealing Gon then seconds later Killua came up. Gon smiles at me holding his envelope that is filled with money telling me he made it. I wasn't surprised that he won or that Killua won but...
"Ren?" I questioned tilting my head.
Killua nods his head, "That's what I heard from Wing. It was the same feeling I had with my brother on that day. It isn't until he reaches the top floor that he will be using that kind of technique again."
"So that means all the strongest fighters are on the top floor right?" Gon questions.
I nodded my head looking at Gon, "Then those top fighters may know that technique too. It would make sense since Killua's brother is strong."
"Gon, Hana, change of plans," Killua speaks up having us confused, "I'm going to aim to reach the top floor!"
Gon nodded his head in support with Killua while I only stared at them.
If Killua's brother used this technique called Ren and only the top fighters know exactly what that is... then... are we truly safe to be in the top without knowing it? Zushi... Wing... can we trust you?
Since then, battles after battles won like it was nothing having us reach the 100th floors. Knockouts after knockouts with all of our opponents. Ever since then, we have been known as the three strongest kids in Heavens Arena. We finally got our owns rooms. I left Killua and Gon to their room while I entered my room. However, as I open the door, the girl from early was standing in the middle of my room nonchalantly and acting normal.
"Nice room," She comments facing me.
I stared at her wide eyes dropping my back then quickly slapping the door shut behind me glaring at her.
"Okay, who the hell are you?" I question hatefully. "And who is this boss you're talking about?"
"Oh, that's right. I never did tell you my name. My name is Machi Komacine. It's a pleasure to meet you Hana Freecss."
My eyes widen then reach over my door locking it so Gon or Killua won't enter without any interruption.
"Okay, so it seems like you were aware of who I am and now that I know who you are. Why don't you tell your bosses name?" I spoke softly reaching into my bag.
"Chrollo Lucifer."
At that moment, I grabbed Light extending him to attack Machi but a feeling of danger came off of her stopping me from coming closer. She stares at me with no emotion and something like a white fog was coming out of her. The fog went towards Light having thousands of sparks appearing then the feeling of burning on my eyes had me let go of Light.
"Idiot girl."
A hand around my neck with the wind passing me hitting my back on the door. She tightens her hold on my neck blocking the air from entering. Her strength was incredible and the white fog was surrounding me causing my eyes the burn to intensify.
"St..op..." I breathed out struggling.
"You want to know what Ren is," She states losing her grip, "You can see it can't you? This white fog that is surrounding my body. It appears that you have the sight despite you haven't open your Nen. Now I can see why Chrollo thinks so highly of you."
She lets me go having me fall on the floor coughing in a struggle to breathe.
"I can help you open your Nen," She grabs my chin having me stare at her. Her eyes widen slightly for her thumb to rub under my eyelid, "Or perhaps, it's already open."
The air was so thick that it was hard to catch any air into my lugs. She didn't have her hand around my neck but the struggle to breathe was getting impossible.
"Get...away... from... me." I struggled to move her hand away.
Suddenly something sharp cut through the door and almost hitting Machi to only pierce the window. I look behind me seeing the door slowly open seeing Wing glaring at Machi with a white fog surrounding him too.
"W-Wing..."
Machi tch disappearing from outside the window with the feeling of her white fog disappearing for a breath of fresh air to finally appear. However, my body felt too weak for me to even sit up that I saw Wing reaching for me as I was falling.
"I can help you open your Nen... or perhaps, it's already open."
What is Nen?
Well, that's the end of this chapter. I do apologize if I didn't do any of the monologues from the anime but... it was all just talk and fighting so I got a little bored with that episode and made it my own.
I hope you enjoyed.
Until Next Time
