An Act of Kindness
He told her once that he had been expecting a child; he had hoped for a girl. He told her she reminded him of his firstborn, his Sun Dragon. She had suffered a loss, and the spirits had brought him to her. They were the same now. Why couldn't she try and return the favor?
A spell to bring forth lost loved ones goes array when Bonnie finds herself with a living room full of Starks.

Hi there y'all.
So I know I haven't really updated this in a while but I wanted to get back into it. I'm putting this note in all my updates until January: I'm tight on cash so I will be doing overtime weekly in addition to peek season hours. If I do update, please have some patience. I will be sleep deprived and I always admit fault with errors.
Thank you and please enjoy this update.
Chapter Two
"So before my brother decides to try knocking her door off its hinges, can I ask who Ray is?"
Stefan was leaning against Elena's locker, the definition of coolness. His backpack strap was slung over one shoulder and his legs were crossed as he stared down at his girlfriend. Or was it ex-girlfriend? He wasn't sure where they stood right now. But it felt right to let her know about Damon's mission to find out everything about Bonnie's family friend.
Elena sighed and shut the locker. Normally, she would be happy to let Stefan know about Ray. He wasn't a harm to anyone and definitely not to Bonnie or her for that matter. Really all Damon cared about was if Ray was either a problem that needed to be dealt with or if he could use him to get at his endgame of Katherine. She wasn't about to allow either of those to happen. Bonnie needed to heal and no matter how much it stung, Elena wasn't going to betray what little trust she had left in her childhood friend.
"He's a family friend," she told him, repeating what she had told Damon every time he asked. She had even told Jenna and Jeremy to repeat it because if he couldn't get it out of her than he was going to try and get it out her family.
Stefan opened his mouth but she cut him off with finality. "Family friend, Stefan and that's it. Leave it alone."
She gripped her backpack for some sort of support and turned on her heel, heading to her first period. Thankfully, he didn't have it with her so it would give her enough time to warn Bonnie.
To Bonnie: Damon coming 2 u.
Bonnie was nestled up on her grandmother's bed, surrounded by journals. On the nightstand beside her rested the plate of breakfast hash Rhaegar had left in the fridge. She'd heated it up around 6:15 while doing some meditation. It had been delicious while hot. All gooey cheese, fluffy egg whites and stocked with veggies.
He had told her a few years ago, while teaching her the art of hand to hand combat in the backyard, that a warrior not only trained their mind but their body. She had told him she wasn't going to be a warrior, but he had given her a secret little smile before teaching her how to take down a larger opponent. Ever since, he'd been keeping her on a healthy diet, though he wasn't opposed to her also eating cheeseburgers and milkshakes on the weekends or her girl's nights with Caroline and Elena.
"Even a princess is allowed her time to relax," he had told her, kissing her forehead and shoving her out the door to Miranda Gilbert's awaiting van. It had been a late August evening on a Thursday. Bonnie had been thirteen while Caroline and Elena were fourteen and already talking about boyfriends. That had been the summer Elena and Matt got together while Caroline talked about her amazing boyfriend she met in Richmond while visiting her dad.
At the time, the girls just amused she was saying it to one-up Elena again. But that winter, a cute boy from Richmond showed up at their winter Founder's Ball as her date and Bonnie had watched from the sidelines as Caroline and Elena danced with their respected dates.
Rhaegar had come as Shelia's plus two, since her grandmother brought Bonnie along. Her Dragon had settled down next to her, a plate of fancy hors d'oeuvres in his hand and two forks in the other.
"One day, little star, you're going to outshine them," he assured her. He handed her a fork and watched as she tried some prosciutto wrapped pear slices. "Until then, don't envy them."
Bonnie had huffed because it wasn't fair. She had asked around and no one wanted to go with her. Tyler had been grounded so he couldn't go with her. Jeremy was too young and Matt was Elena's boyfriend; that would be wrong. Every other boy in her grade had just said no because she wasn't as pretty as Elena or Caroline.
Caroline had been ready to hunt down every one of those boys. She still wanted names even to this day. Elena had told her to ignore them because they were idiots and Rhaegar had been right. She was too radiant for the boys of Mystic Falls.
One day she was going to knock some lucky guy off his axis and he was going to worship her like a queen. It was the one thing her and Caroline could agree on.
The witch shook her head. How had she gotten from looking for a spell to bring Rhaegar's family to him to boys? She sighed, she really was a typical teenage girl. Well if teenage girls also did magic and had to handle crazy vampires who were hung up on their exes. And that wasn't including having a familiar who was basically a dragon in human form.
She was getting off track. She had to focus. This spell was going to be a surprise for Rhaegar. His birthday was a few months away and she wanted to try practicing the spell. If she could find the damn thing.
Her phone buzzed, giving her another distraction. Just perfect. Maneuvering into her knees, she crawled over to the nightstand and, careful not to knock over her plate of unfinished hash, grabbed her phone. On the screen was a single text message from Elena.
Damon coming 2 u
Bonnie let out a curse, only it wasn't in English. Rhaegar tended to curse in some old language that she couldn't remember but she did remember him telling her not to repeat it as a child and even now. It was apparently a colorful insult to one's mother.
She send a back quick thank you text and then looked down at her journals.
"Thanks," she bit out and then swung her legs over the bed. Her feet touched the floor and she hissed at the cold before heading out towards the hallway. Her fingers lingered on the protective spells her grandmother had carved into the wood of the bannister before she set off down the stairs. The couch, which was set up with blankets and a worn pillow that Matt had brought home with him, was cleaned up and the blankets folded.
She and Rhaegar had set up the guest room for him but the blonde refused. He was under the impression that he was only staying until Rhaegar got back, which Bonnie had told him wasn't the case. Rhaegar and her dad (which had been a shock to Bonnie) had agreed that Matt could stay in the house.
Damon could try all he wanted to get into the house but his efforts were going to be for nothing. Her Grams had made it so he couldn't get in if anything happened to her or Bonnie, even if it wasn't his or Stefan's fault. She grateful that Rhaegar hadn't been home when Damon had taken a bite out of her, though the phone call she had missed while out being possessed by Emily definitely wasn't good.
Bonnie went about packing away the blankets and pillow. Matt knew where they were and she knew that getting him to move into the guest room was going to take some miracle. Once she finished that task, she went to grab the vacuum to clean the carpet. She was home until next week, might as well get some chores done.
An hour later, she had vacuumed the living room, put away the rest of the hash and scrubbed her plate and anything left in the sink. Now it was a little close to eight forty in the morning and she was once settled somewhere with a tome of some kind. This one was definitely old. The pages were yellowed and stuck together while the spine of the grimoire was leather bound and encased in deep crimson designs that looked like wings. As her skimmed over spells she definitely was going to try later on (there was a paralysis spell she really wanted to learn. It could come in handy for dealing a pesky vampire), she found her mind wondering to why she wanted to do this spell.
The night of her grandmother's funeral, after everyone had gone home, Rhaegar had come up the stairs to her room. He had found her curled up, fetal position in the center of her bed clutching her pillow.
He rasped his knuckles along the frame of her door. "May I come in?"
"Yes," came her muffled reply. His footsteps sounded on the carpet and he was soon seated on the corner of her bed. His hand came to caress one of her locks.
"Did you need anything?"
She shook her head. "I just want to sleep and forget this awful day."
Rhaegar was at a lose for what to say. He had seen plenty of death and lost many people to it. Friends, family and even lovers. But Bonnie was young and this world was not like Westeros. Wars rages yes, but not like how it did back home.
After a moment, he simply leaned down and kissed her forehead. "It will ebb, little star. The pain that is. It will never go away but I promise it will get easier."
Bonnie tightened her hold on her pillow. That wasn't as reassuring as she hoped. She had expected him to have some princely advice but he hadn't. The two of them sat in silence for a bit, the only noises being the clock ticking on the wall and the wind blowing outside.
"Do you miss them?"
Rhaegar turned to look at her. "Them?"
"Your family, Rhae. Do you miss them?"
He paused, the look on his face going from confused to reserved. He rarely showed his pain to her. But she could always see in his eyes, no matter how hard he tried to hide it. Those eyes of his always told her how badly he missed them.
"They will always be here," he answered her after a moment. His hand had raised and pressed against his chest, close to his heart.
"I will always miss them, Bonnie. You always miss your family. But right now, I have a new family and it's you."
Bonnie had been floored by that. She had moved to sit up and wrapped Rhaegar in a hug, tears prickling the corners of her eyes as she buried her face into his back.
He was a gift; her grams had always said so. A blessing from the Spirits to help Bonnie along her way. As long as she could remember, Rhaegar had always been in her life.
Her baby photos featured him, and had since she was about a month old according to her dad. She had never settled unless Rhaegar held her.
"You and him have always been together," Rudy had said one night, one of the few nights he had been home from work. She had been twelve and had asked why Rhae was in all her baby pictures. Tyler had said his dad thought it was inappropriate and gross that Rhae seemed to only come around for the summer. Bonnie had told him as such.
Rudy had said that the mayor needed to mind his own damn business because what happened in his household wasn't Richard's problem. But he had seen how his words unsettled Bonnie, so he had taken a deep breath and told her how Rhaegar had been there because Bonnie wanted him to be.
He confirmed Shelia's constant ramblings about how Rhaegar was Bonnie's familiar. He was there to protect her and keep her safe.
"He's an act of kindness, sent from the Spirits." Shelia had said one night while tucking her into bed.
An act of kindness...
Bonnie could think of every thing Rhaegar had done for her and she never saw it as that. She saw him as the protector she had never knew she needed.
And she wanted him happy.
He was going to have his family. His daughter and son, Elia and Lyanna and his youngest child. Even if it was for a day.
Bonnie sat up, a new found determination in her bones. This was going to be her act of kindness.
