(A/N: Okay, I came up with this fic after my brother's most recent round of "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga" (the original). It takes place sometime after the adventure, and I needed to get this story out of my system real bad! Here goes...)
It was a quiet afternoon in the Mushroom Kingdom. Bowser hadn't attacked in a while, which meant he was either plotting something, or he was still recovering from the last time he got beaten by the Mario Bros. Speaking of the Mario Bros., why don't we go check up on them and see what they're up to right now? Let's go!
We find Mario and Luigi spending time at Peach's Castle. They're in the castle's sitting room with Peach and Daisy, just talking. I think we should stick around, for you never know when one of them might say something interesting.
"You know, it has been quite a while since Bowser's most recent attack on the Mushroom Kingdom. I think we should take advantage of this break he's on and do something fun. Maybe go somewhere." Peach suggested.
"Like where? A theme park?" Luigi asked.
"Potrebbe essere divertente. That could be fun." Mario said.
"I have a great idea! Maybe I could cut my visit short, and you guys could come with me when I go back to Sarasaland. I can't remember the last time Mario or Peach have been there, and Luigi still has yet to see the kingdom, and meet my parents." Daisy said.
"But Daisy, it's-a still too early in our relationship for me to meet your genitori... Your parents..." Luigi protested.
"We've been in a relationship for almost a year now, Luigi. It's high time you and my parents finally met." Daisy said.
"What if they don't like me?" Luigi asked.
"That's unlikely. I already put in a very good word for you, and they really want to meet you. Then again, everyone else in my castle wants to meet you, too. Besides, don't you want to see what my kingdom is like?" Daisy asked her boyfriend.
"Actually, I was thinking that perhaps we could go back to a place we've been to already; you know, to make up for the vacation Bowser tried to ruin while we were there." Peach replied, not wanting Luigi and Daisy to argue.
"Where? Dinosaur Land?" Mario suggested.
"Isle Delfino?" Daisy guessed.
"The Beanbean Kingdom?" Luigi tried.
"Yes! The Beanbean Kingdom! That's perfect!" Peach decided.
"You want to go back there? Why, Peach?" Mario asked.
"Well, for one thing, we haven't been there for a while. And I'd really like to replace some bad memories given to me by one Bowletta..." Peach started.
"Who's Bowletta? I'm guessing that from the first part of the name, it's Bowser, but..." Daisy interrupted.
Mario, Luigi, and Peach quickly explained the whole thing to Daisy.
"I'm glad I wasn't there to see Bowletta, then. That disgusting piece of filth probably would've made me puke my guts up." Daisy replied.
"I don't blame you for that, Daisy. The sight of that creature was enough to make anyone turn sick." Luigi said.
"Plus, Bowletta wasn't the only thing that ruined the trip for me. I was captured by creatures in Teehee Valley, and I was also attacked by a tree-like creature before getting on the lift to Little Fungitown, so I think it's for the best if I go back there to give myself better memories." Peach stated.
"È comprensibile. That's understandable. We should probably do that with some other places we've been to where things didn't go so well." Mario said.
"Possiamo venire anche noi? Can we come, too? Mario and I also have some... unpleasant memories... we wouldn't mind replacing." Luigi asked.
"Of course. I did say 'we', and since when am I going to say no to the men who put their lives on the line to save me and my kingdom from Bowser? Besides, during my initial visit, I didn't really see much of the Beanbean Kingdom like the two of you did." Peach said, speaking to Mario and Luigi.
"Yup, we saw everything from Stardust Fields to Joke's End." Luigi said.
Mario perked up when he heard that. He quickly tapped Luigi on the shoulder, getting his attention.
"What is it?" Luigi asked.
"Joke's End." Mario whispered.
"What about it?" Luigi whispered back.
"Do you remember it?" Mario asked, still whispering.
"Certo. Of course. It was cold and not fun." Luigi replied, also whispering.
"Do you remember who lived there?" Mario asked.
Luigi thought for a moment, and then he remembered.
"Oh yeah. Jojora. I hated her. She was an annoying little cretin, wishing we would give up. Then when we made it to the top, she decided to reward us by letting us pick which friend she should invite that day, and then she tried to sic her friend on us. We had to kill her friend, and then she called us jerks. She's the jerk, not us. Besides, she's still got 3 other friends to play with." Luigi whispered.
"And she's a piccolo bugiardo, a little liar, because she said that no girls would ever like us." Mario said.
"She's completely wrong about that. I'd like to hear her say that to Pauline, and the girls who liked you in high school. They would tell her that they agree to disagree. But most importantly, I'd like to hear her say that to our girlfriends, Peach and Daisy!" Luigi said.
"And Peach and Daisy aren't just your average, ordinary girls... they're princesses!" Mario reminded him.
"Yeah... If Jojora found out how wrong she was about us..." Luigi started.
And then they got an idea. An awful idea. The Super Mario Bros. got a wonderful, awful idea. But neither princess caught the Grinch smile their boyfriends gave each other when they got their idea.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Luigi whispered.
"Lo sai! You know it!" Mario replied in a whisper, before turning to Peach and asking aloud, "So, all of us are going, right?"
"'All of us', as in 'me, too'?" Daisy asked.
"Do you want to come along, Daisy?" Peach asked her cousin.
"Sure! I wouldn't mind seeing the Beanbean Kingdom! That, and my parents aren't expecting me back home for at least another month." Daisy said.
"Great! I was hoping you'd want to come with us!" Luigi said to Daisy.
"It sounds like fun, and if I go, perhaps I can help get your mind off of certain things." Daisy said, smiling at him.
"Right..." said Luigi, knowing what Daisy was saying.
"Oh, and Toadsworth needs to know about this. You know that he won't let me go alone, even if I have you, Mario and Luigi with me for protection." Peach said.
"You think he'll be okay with this?" Daisy said.
"Absolutely!" Peach said.
"Absolutely not!" said Toadsworth when Peach ran the idea by him later that night.
"Why not? I thought you liked the Beanbean Kingdom!" Peach said, rather surprised that her longtime steward would say no.
"Princess, I was completely against the idea from the get-go the first time you wanted to go there! Surely you can remember that!" Toadsworth reminded her.
Peach sighed. Yes, she did indeed remember that. He hadn't wanted her to go, and he wasn't up for it because he had a feeling that something bad was going to happen to her, and he was right.
"Yes, Toadsworth, I do remember that. But I really want to go back and replace my bad memories of the Beanbean Kingdom with better ones. Besides, Cackletta is well and truly dead. She can't fuse with Bowser and become that freak of nature known as Bowletta again." Peach explained.
"It doesn't matter! What if you get captured by those creatures in Teehee Valley again? That was bad enough!" Toadsworth said.
"Toadsworth, that happened only once. Mario and Luigi didn't let it happen to me again after that one time. In fact, I asked them to come along on this trip! They won't let it happen to me again!" Peach tried.
"Need I remind you that they let you get captured by that... Bowletta creature?!" Toadsworth said.
"No, they didn't! Mario was seriously ill when that happened! And Luigi couldn't do anything either because had to go out and get the cure for Mario's illness because the doctor was all out! It wasn't their fault that Bowletta picked that time to take me away! And besides, we didn't know that Cackletta would find a way to fuse herself with Bowser!" Peach said.
"Oh... I didn't know that Mario and Luigi had good reasons for being unable to protect you from Bowletta when you were in Little Fungitown." said Toadsworth, a little calmer now. But his unhappiness came back as he said, "But still...!"
"And Daisy's coming, too!" Peach added.
"Oh no..." Toadsworth said. It was bad enough having to look after one princess, but two of them was definitely far from easy!
"Toadsworth, Daisy has only been captured once! Plus, she's a tomboy; nobody has captured her since Mario rescued her from Tatanga! She'll help Mario and Luigi keep me safe, because not even Bowser messes with her!" Peach said.
"Princess, I don't care if you asked the Justice League to come along and keep you safe! This time, I'm putting my foot down! No one is going to the Beanbean Kingdom, and that is final!" Toadsworth said.
Peach let out a frustrated sigh, but then she remembered something very important. Something that just might get Toadsworth to reconsider.
"Okay, then. It really is too bad, though, because I called Queen Bean a few hours ago and told her that we were planning to visit the Beanbean Kingdom real soon. Now I'll have to tell her that we won't be coming after all. She's going to be so disappointed, but not nearly as disappointed as Lady Lima will be. I heard she was really looking forward to seeing you again." Peach said, her shoulders slumped.
Toadsworth looked surprised when Peach mentioned Lady Lima. He remembered her. In fact, he hadn't complained about visiting the Beanbean Kingdom when he met her. It turned out that she was his favorite part of their visit to the Beanbean Kingdom, and when he heard that she had been looking forward to seeing him...
"Lady Lima?! Oh no, I can't disappoint her!" Toadsworth said to himself, before saying aloud, "Change of plans! We're going to the Beanbean Kingdom after all!"
"We are?!" Peach asked, pretending to be surprised. She knew that Toadsworth would reconsider if she mentioned Lady Lima to him.
"Yes, Princess. We are." Toadsworth said.
"Oh joy! Thank you, Toadsworth! Thank you so much!" Peach said, kneeling down and giving the little mushroom man a big hug.
And so ends the first chapter! I did not expect that I was going to turn this into a chapter story, but as I typed, I realized that it was getting a bit too long for a one-shot! Stay tuned!
