Okay BIG apology for this chapter. I did not realize the mistake in chapters until I read Angel winx's review. Thank you to them by the way because I had no clue of this accident.
CHAPTER 2
"Did we just see that?" Nino asked Alya still unsure if what they had seen was real.
"Yeah, I think so" said Alya.
They were silent for a moment.
"Oh no!" Alya said standing up.
"What's wrong?" Nino asked.
"I just realized, Marinette's right, Lila IS a liar" she exclaimed.
"What do you mean?" Nino asked standing up.
"Well, first since Marinette is Ladybug that means she knew she was lying about being Ladybug's best friend since she never met Lila before she was introduced." Alya recalled.
"Oh yeah" Nino said, "And doesn't she work for Jagged Stone?" he asked.
"That's right" Alya remembered, "So that's how she knows he didn't have a cat" she said, "And I just wrote it off as jealousy!" she moaned sinking down.
They heard a yoyo swing and Ladybug touched down in front of them.
"Hi Alya" she said trying to sound polite. "I know your identity is revealed but we need your help again and I don't have time to explain this to a new person" she explained.
She held out a box to Alya and said "Once again, here is the fox miraculous" she said waiting for Alya to take it.
Alya stared at Ladybug, then at Nino, then at the tiny box. She threw her arms around Ladybug and hugged her as tight as she could crying a bit.
"What?" Ladybug said surprised by Alya's sudden hug.
"I'm so sorry Marinette" Alya said voice muffled in Ladybug's shoulder.
She pulled back and wiped her tears before looking at Ladybug who looked stunned.
"I'm sorry but I'm not Marinette" she said trying to hide her shock.
"Mari, we saw you transform" said Nino putting an arm around Alya.
Ladybug looked even more shocked and was about to say something, but Alya interrupted and said "Look Mari, I get it, you shouldn't be sorry for hiding this. I was a terrible friend to you, I believed Lila over my best friend." She said trying not to cry.
Ladybug stared at Alya before saying "I already told you, I can't just forgive a simple apology" she said firmly.
"I know" said Alya "That's why I'm going to work extra hard to win back your trust." She said handing the box back to Ladybug.
"I'm not the person for this" she said but Ladybug cuts her off.
"Yes, you are" she said handing the box back.
"But-" Alya started.
"But nothing" Ladybug said with a smile "You messed up, but you're going to try to fix it. You can't give up being a hero because of that" she said kindly.
She held out the box again and said "We need Rena Rouge. Are you in?" she asked.
Alya stared at her then at Nino, "Your call" he said, she looked back at the box and took a deep breath and grabbed it.
There was bright flash and Trixx, her kwami, appeared, "Hi Alya!" she said.
"Hi Trixx" she said "We need to transform" she said.
"You know the words" said Trixx.
Alya looked at Ladybug who smiled back. "Alright, Trixx, let's pounce!" she called.
After she transformed, she hugged once more Ladybug who returned it.
"Thank you so much, Marinette" she said.
"You're welcome, but we need to talk later" she said sternly.
"Of course, Ladybug" she said, and they jumped out a window to fight the akuma.
AFTER THE AKUMA ATTACK
They touched down behind the school and their transformations disappeared. Alya removed the miraculous and handed it back to Marinette.
She took it and looked at it for a minute before handing it back to Alya.
"What?" Alya asked confused to why she handed it back.
"I'm the new guardian of the miraculous" Marinette explained "and I noticed that we need more help against Hawkmoth, so you have permission to keep this miraculous for a week to test your skills." said Marinette with a smile.
"I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to let you keep it permanently, but this will be your test" she said waiting for Alya to take it.
Alya stared at Marinette in shock, then threw her arms around Marinette repeating "Thank you" over and over again. She pulled back and put her hands on Marinette's shoulders and said, "I don't deserve you."
They walked into the school together (Alya, cheering that her best friend was her favorite superhero and idol) but were silent when they walked into class.
Everyone stared at them, then Nino walked up to Marinette and put his hand on her shoulder and said "Dudette, Mari, I'm so sorry and I promise to make it up to you" he said.
"Thank you, Nino" Marinette said "Hey wait a second" she said dashing out.
The class exploded at Nino and Alya, but they just ignored them.
Marinette came back with a clipboard and said, "Whoever wants to sign up and help prepare the party will get extra homework to makeup the time missed in class" she said "As class representative I will be supervising and helping out anyway" she explained.
"So, who wants to sign up?" she asked.
Lots of people wanted to but they didn't want to work with Marinette so only Alya, Nino, and Adrien signed up.
"Oh, by the way Lila, what party are we having?" Rose asked. The class waited for her answer.
Lila panicked and said "Um, Garden?" the class looked happy with the decision minus Marinette.
"But I told principal Damocles a masquerade ball and if you want to confirm just ask him" then she turned to Lila "So what do you mean by I stole your idea earlier?" she asked.
Lila froze and looked at the classes questioning eyes. "Um, I have memory loss, but I didn't want disappoint you, so I tried to think of another answer" she said.
As the class comforted her Marinette, Alya, Nino and Adrien rolled their eyes.
They left class and started working on the decorations to hang at the party.
Alya and Nino saw that Marinette was avoiding Adrien and asked him what's up.
He sighed and explained that he knew Lila was lying but asked her to not tell because Lila might've gotten akumatised.
He thought they wouldn't believe him but to his surprise they said, "We know about Lila, and you should've just exposed her."
"But I didn't know that Mari was being threatened by her" said Adrien sighing "I thought by helping out it might make it easier to forgive me" he said looking at Marinette.
"Well dude, I would help but it needs to come from you" Nino said.
Alya just froze and said, "Marinette is mad at you!?" before walking away muttering that her brain hurts.
After they made the streamers, they collected their homework from principal Damocles and Alya and Nino left to go to Marinette's house.
Adrien watched them leave chatting happily.
He sighed and Plagg spoke up "Kid, I know you wanted to give that liar another chance, but I think she won't listen" he said.
"I know Plagg, but I don't know what to do anymore" Adrien said sadly remembering the earlier argument with Marinette and how her eyes were full of disappointment, anger and betrayal when she glared at him.
"Well cheese helps me think" said Plagg making Adrien chuckle softly before walking into his car.
AT MARINETTE'S HOUSE
Marinette had explained everything to Alya and Nino who were fuming over what Marinette had gone though.
"I was mad that Adrien told you to take the high road but this! This is pure evil" Alya ranted "and I was stupid to believe all her lies about my best friend" she said disappointed in herself.
"Alya, you aren't stupid, I know she was believable" Marinette said comforting her best friend.
"No" Alya said in a firm voice startling Marinette "I was terrible to you and no akuma even made me or something" she said waving her arms around to emphasis "And yet after ALL that" she said making eye contact with her best friend.
"You swallow your anger to give me the miraculous" she said trying not to cry.
"Alya listen" Marinette said taking a deep breath "You were destined for the fox miraculous just like all the previous holders and I will always be your best friend, supporting you all the time no matter what."
She said "Heck, you were one of the reasons I didn't give up my miraculous at the start" she said throwing her hands up in the air.
"WHAT!" Alya yelled jumping up with Nino behind her.
"YOU ALMOST GAVE UP BEING LADYBUG!" she yelled in shock "I did, but seeing you in danger made me think, I Needed to Do Something, no matter how incapable I was" Marinette said flinching at the memories.
Alya saw this and calmed down and sat in front of her best friend. "Marinette listen" she said putting her hands on Marinette's shoulders "You are an amazing Ladybug, and I don't care about all the times you lied because you had to. You needed to protect us. You needed to lie. And I get that, I also have secrets like this" she said pulling out her necklace "and I don't like it, but I had to lie like you" she said comforting Marinette.
Suddenly Alya gasped. "So that's why you don't like Chat noir, because you like Adrien!" Alya exclaimed pointing a finger at Marinette who turned red at the reminder.
Alya softened at this and said "Girl, he wanted to give her a chance, but you should've told him" she said gently. "But he should've noticed anyway, I mean really! Is he that blind!" she ranted angrily before Marinette calmed her by saying.
"Alya, it's fine. It isn't entirely his fault," said Marinette. Alya gave her a sympathetic look.
"Anyway, let's think of a way to call Lila out of her lies" Marinette said with a thoughtful look on her face.
Alya exchanged a look with Nino and put her hands on Mari's shoulders.
"Now, I know you want to expose Lila, but you need to relax" she said.
"But" Marinette protested.
"I know, but if we rest for a bit, we'll think of the best way to expose Lila" said Alya "Plus, we need to plan the party, can't we hold it off for at least a week?" she asked.
Marinette thought for a second, "Okay your right" she said giving in.
"Hey, how about we have a slumber party?" Alya asked "ooh, sure" said Marinette squealing at the thought.
"Wait" Nino said.
"What?" Alya asked "Afraid we're going to make you model Mari's designs?" she asked with a smirk as Marinette giggled.
"Well, no" Nino said slowly "But now I am" he said pretending to look terrified which made the three of them burst out laughing.
"What I was going to say" he said once the laughter died down "Is, well um," he stammered turning to Mari.
He took a deep breath and said "To expose Lila we need people on our side to help. That means talking with someone who knows she's lying" he said shrinking under the weight of the glare Alya gave him once she took the hint.
"You don't mean Adrien, do you?" She asked and glared even harder as Nino managed to nod under her glance.
She turned to her best friend who looked like she was thinking before saying "Don't listen to Nino if you don't want to" she said trying to comfort Marinette.
"No, he's right" Marinette said standing up.
She sighed and said, "C all him".
"Wait, wait, wait" Alya said standing up in front of Marinette "You know you don't have to, right?" she asked questioning her friend.
"I know but… this is the right thing to do, and besides" she said with a small smile "what kind of superhero doesn't give second chances?" she asked
"A superhero with a very good reason" Alya sputtered to her.
Marinette giggled and said "well, Lila and Chloe had chosen a path that makes forgiveness almost impossible but can still be forgiven" Marinette pointed out "So I think I should forgive Adrien if he decides to apologize" she decided "Because in reality, I was never really mad at him, I was just frustrated by the way we handled it" she explained.
She then turned to Nino and asked, "Could you please call him to see if he can join our party?" charming him with her manners.
"Sure dudette" he said grabbing his phone and running down the stairs for privacy (also to avoid the terrifying glare that his girlfriend was giving him).
"While he's calling, how about we design your dress for the party?" Marinette asked Alya.
"Ooh, what about you go as Ladybug?" Alya asked in excitement.
"I wish but it could compromise my identity" Marinette said sighing "On the bright side, I'm going as Chat noir" she said smiling
"Oh My Gosh! You are going to look amazing girl!" Alya said excited for her friend. Then she paused for a second "And I could go as Carapace!" she said squealing at the idea. They then chatted over the dress ideas.
Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I had a small case of writer's block, but I think I'm over it, hopefully. Thanks to the people still supporting this though. That's all. Vivisong out!
