Snow fell heavily. Frost coated the windows and Victoire sat, huddled for warmth under three blankets, as she stared outside. What started as a soft, light snow was now a storm. She knew that soon, the entire property would be covered in a foot of the cold fluffy snow.
She smiled softly as she watched her father run from Louis and Dominique through the snow as they pelted him with snowballs. A small snow fort resided off to the south, evidence of their earlier play before the snowball fight started.
She longed to be outside with her family but it was not meant to be. The winter flu season had hit her hard and she was now stuck inside, looking outside as the fluffy white snow fell. She just hoped her father waited for her to get better before he broke out the snowmobiles.
"Cherie?" a lyrical voice softly said from the doorway.
Victoire turned her gaze from the window and tried to smile at her mother but all that came out was a grimace.
"Ma petite cherie, how are you feeling?" Fleur asked as she walked across the room and pressed her hand to her daughter's forehead.
"Mama" Victoire whimpered, her throat burning from speaking just one short word. She wished the healing potions worked faster but her father said it would take another two days of potions in order to be fully healed.
"Here" Fleur said with a soft smile. She handed over a steaming mug of aromatic tea, "Green tea, just how you like it"
"Honey?"
"Bien sur" Fleur chuckled, "Extra honey, just for you" and she poked her red-tipped nose. Fleur moved behind her daughter and gathered up the empty mugs and plate from her end table. She placed them over by the doorway before she moved back towards her daughter.
"Thanks, Mum" Victoire rasped and quickly descended into bone wracking coughs. Once the coughing ceased she lifted the mug and took a shallow sip of the tea and sighed in relief as it soothed her aching throat.
Fleur wrapped her daughter in a hug and rubbed her back soothingly, "Come on, back to bed. You need rest if you hope to get better."
Victoire shifted and stood up from her seat. She shuffled to the side and leaned against her mother as she was led back to bed.
"Get some rest. You have the next three weeks here to spend with your siblings in the snow, take a couple days to recover"
"Alright" Victoire said and sighed. She burrowed deeper into her blankets. Fleur reached down and lifted the quilt that Grandma Weasley had made covered in shimmering snowflakes. She gently tucked her daughter in before she spun around and moved closer to the doorway.
"Call if you need anything"
Victoire just nodded and rolled over in her bed. She listened to her mother close her bedroom door. Once she was alone she opened her eyes and stared back out the window. She watched the snow hypnotically. Her eyes slowly drifted shut and she sunk into dreamland.
