Hated Fox
I started out alone
Surrounded by hate,
Closing in on me,
I was isolated
From other mortals.
I was different,
And still am.
My difference is a cell
That I cannot
Escape from;
Their hate a lock upon the door.
That time I was in the dark
Barely enough light to see
The joy in my own life.
I would stumble, trip, and fall;
I would lie there,
Still, unmoving.
Time passed,
And I began to see the light
Through the darkness,
For darkness would have
No meaning,
But for the light
That is the opposite.
In the light
Kind hands pulled me up
From where I had been
Pushed down.
Following the light,
I began to walk.
