"Usagi-chan. Usagi-chan. Oy, Earth to Usagi-chan!"

Usagi had been lost in her thoughts, sipping her bubble tea at the local café. Minako finally managed to get her attention and Usagi raised her head, the straw still in her mouth.

"Yeah?"

"You seem distracted these past few days. Is everything alright?" Minako asked.

"Ah...! Yeah... Sorry, I've been thinking about Mamo-chan. I missed him already."

"You're still sending each other letters right?" Makoto asked.

"Yep! He's doing great in America!"

"That's a relief," Ami added.

Usagi took another sip of her bubble tea, thinking once again about Mamoru.

"So, you've been spending quite a lot of time with that new student lately," Minako suddenly commented.

"Eh? Oh, Nyanko-san. Yeah, she's new and she's a classmate so I'm trying to help her out."

"New student?" Rei asked.

"Yeah, we have a transfer student," Makoto confirmed.

"And she seems quite fond of Usagi-chan," Minako added with a sly smile.

"Huh? What do you mean by that?" Usagi asked, confused.

"Just that she seems to have taken a liking to you."

"Well, she's looking for a friend and I don't mind making her feel welcome in her new school-"

"Oh, I don't think she's just looking for a friend," Minako interrupted with a chuckle.

Both Makoto and Ami blushed at the insinuation while Usagi remained clueless.

"Mamoru-san barely left and already you got a new love interest," Minako teased.

This time, Usagi understood and furiously blushed.

"What...! N-No! She's just seeing me as a friend!"

"Oh, she's blushing! You know it's true," Minako smirked.

"So I was right. Usagi-chan is the type who's popular with other girls," Ami added.

"It's not that! Not that it would be wrong, but... Nyanko-san isn't interested in me that way! ... Right?"

"I don't know, I wouldn't be surprised if you receive a love letter soon from a 'secret' admirer..."

"Mamo-chan is the only one for me!"

As Minako continued to tease Usagi, Rei remained pensive.

"A transfer student, at this time of the year... How peculiar," Rei said.

"From what we heard she spent three years in Lybia," Ami said.

"Lybia? Where's that? I don't recall this prefecture..." Usagi said.

"It's a country in Africa, Usagi-chan," Ami added.

"Ah. Oh... That's pretty far away huh."

Rei felt that there was something odd but couldn't quite get why.

"I'd like to meet her," Rei suddenly said.

"Huh? Sure, but... Why?" Usagi asked.

"Well... Since she's your classmate and I'm from a different school, I feel like I'm missing something. Like I'm left out," Rei said before she smirked. "And I'd like to meet Usagi-chan's newest conquest."

"Oh no not you too!" Usagi protested. "She's just a friend!"

All her friends laughed at this while Usagi sighed. She wordlessly continued to drink her bubble tea, wishing that Mamoru could be there with her.

"Usagi-chan! I'm glad you could come today!"

As Usagi simply waved at her, Nyanko immediately jumped on her excitedly and locked arms with her. Usagi could feel her hearts pound, remembering her conversation with her friends the other day.

"It's okay Usagi. Girls touch each other like that all the time. You yourself do that with your friends and it doesn't mean anything," she told herself.

But Nyanko was clinging to her in a way much closer way than a simple friend would do. Usagi tried to rationalize it by thinking she was just the type of girl with no sense of personal space, or just very fond of skinship. Yeah, that must be it.

"You wanted me to show you around the district, right?" Usagi said.

"Yep! I'm not really familiar with Juuban! Thanks again for your help."

"There's no need to thank me. We're classmates after all. And that's what friends do."

"Yeah. Friends."

Usagi started by showing her the most known stores and restaurants, some interesting shops until they reached one of Juuban's parks. There weren't too many people at this hour so it was pretty calm. It was probably for the best, given how much Nyanko was glued to her. Usagi felt awfully self-conscious about it now that her friends had pointed that out and preferred to not have too many people seeing her like that.

"Whoa, so pretty!" Nyanko commented.

"Right? This park is really nice."

"Oh? Yeah, the park. Sure."

"Eh?"

Nyanko didn't answer to that and simply giggled.

"Hey, Usagi-chan!"

Usagi noticed her usual friends waving at her but immediately stopped when they noticed Nyanko. They exchanged glances together and looked like they were holding back to not laugh.

"Oh, we didn't know you were with… Suzu-san," Ami said, a little bit embarrassed.

"We wouldn't want to be interrupting your dat-" Minako began to say before Rei silenced her with a nudge in the stomach.

"You're getting quite along you two," Mako commented.

"Ah, Kino-san, Aino-san, Mizuno-san!" Nyanko exclaimed. "Yes! Usagi-chan was kind enough to show me around since I'm new in the neighbourhood."

Her attention then shifted to Rei, who was also staring at her.

"I don't think I had the pleasure of meeting you," Nyanko said. "You're not from our school are you?"

"I'm a friend of Usagi-chan. Hino Rei."

"Ohh. Nice to meet you, Hino-san. I'm Suzu Nyanko, a classmate of Usagi-chan."

Nyanko then made a few steps towards Rei.

"What a shame you're not in our class," Nyanko said. "You're quite pretty too."

Rei remained impassive while Minako was really struggling to hold back her laughter.

"Ah… haha…!" Usagi nervously laughed. "I think we can all agree that Rei-chan is a cool beauty… right girls?"

"Of course," Minako said, barely hiding her amusement. "And she goes to an all-girls school on top of that, if you know what I mean-"

Rei nudged her once again in the stomach to shut her up.

"An all-girls school!? Aww, lucky you! Sounds like heaven," Nyanko commented.

"You really seem to like girls, don't you Suzu-san?" Mako carefully asked.

"But of course! I believe that we girls can only truly get along with other girls!"

"Well, I guess there is some truth to that," Ami replied.

"That's something I can definitely get behind," Rei said.

"Right?"

Usagi sighed, feeling like her friends might have given up on making fun of her.

"Woof woof woof!"

A rather large dog had escaped its master's clutches and was barking at them.

"Ah, dog…!" Nyanko winced.

She immediately ran away to the nearest tree and started climbing it. The dog's master caught back his pet and apologized to the girls before going back on his way.

"Phew, that was scary," Minako commented. "Good thing Artemis and Luna aren't there…"

"Huh, where's Suzu-san?" Ami asked.

"Over there!" Makoto exclaimed.

Nyanko was all the way up in the tree, standing on the thickest branch, frantically looking around.

"Is it gone?" she asked nervously.

"What? The dog? Yes, it's gone," Makoto replied.

Nyanko sighed with relief yet didn't go down the tree.

"Nyanko-san… you can come down now," Usagi said.

"Right… I'll be right there. Eventually."

"... Can you actually go down from there?" Ami asked.

"Pff. Of course I can! I just don't want to right now, that's all…!"

They all just stared at Nyanko in silence, who awkwardly remained in the tree.

"Okay, maybe I can't get down from that tree."

"Do you need some help?" Makoto asked.

"Hmmm… Yeah, I'd like to."

Makoto sighed then opened her arms.

"Jump, I'll catch you," she said.

"Are you sure?" Nyanko asked.

"Yeah. I'm quite strong. You can trust me. I won't let you fall."

Nyanko looked like she was hesitating for a moment.

"Okay, I'll trust you. Here I come!"

The black-haired girl took a few seconds before jumping. Makoto caught her without much trouble and Nyanko was now lying in her arms, almost bridal carry.

"See? I told you I'd catch you-"

"Wow, you're so strong and cool, Kino-san!" Nyanko gushed as softly stoke the other girl's cheek. "You said you'd catch me, but I might have actually fallen for you instead."

Makoto was left speechless and blushing madly while Nyanko chuckled at her reaction.

"Just kidding!" she said cheerfully as she jumped down from Makoto's arms. "Thanks for the help, Kino-san."

"... You're… you're welcome…"

"Kyaaa! A monster!"

As soon as they heard that scream the senshi had their instinct stirred. They all turned to the source of that cry and immediately spotted the 'monster' they were referring to.

"That person… They are covered with a dark aura!" Rei exclaimed. "Ugh, this dark energy… I can feel its malice… it seems… familiar and so… evil…"

The person ended up fully consumed by the dark aura, turning into a shadowy creature with red glowy eyes.

"What the… Eh!?" Nyanko let out. "A monster?!"

Everybody started to run away in the park, fleeing the 'monster'. The senshi were ready to transform and deal with it until they realized not everyone had left the park.

"Nyanko-san…?" Usagi said. "You- We have to run away, now…!"

"...Uh… R-Right…! We have to get out of here- Huh!?"

Without warning the monster rushed towards Nyanko.

"Why me!?" Nyanko cried out as she ran away, climbing up the tree once again.

"Again!?" Makoto exclaimed.

"Quick, let's go transform somewhere else before that monster catches her!" Ami said.

The other girls nodded but before they could do anything, they noticed someone else in the park: a little boy crying. The monster had noticed too as it was now rushed towards the child.

"No! There's no time!" Minako yelled.

Their leader grabbed her senshi pen, ready to transform. But then, much to her surprise, Nyanko jumped off the tree and landed perfectly.

"Hey, you monster!" Nyanko shouted. "Come and get me you coward!"

As she said that the black-haired girl threw a rock at the monster. It seemed to do the trick as it was now chasing after her.

"Now, we have to hurry and transform-" Minako began to say.

"Arggghh!"

"Nyanko-san!?"

The monster had managed to catch her and as she struggled, strumbled to the ground. She laid there, inert, seemingly unconscious.

"Suzu-san!" Ami shouted.

"Moon Eternal, Make Up!"

Usagi immediately turned into Sailor Moon, followed by her fellow sailor senshi.

"You monster! How dare you disturb the peace in this park and bring harm to an innocent girl!" Sailor Moon began. "In the name of the Moon, I shall punish you!"

Sailor Venus rushed towards the little boy and brought him away from the monster. Sailor Mercury went to Nyanko to check on her.

"She's fine," Mercury said. "She's just unconscious. She doesn't seem to be seriously injured."

Sailor Moon signed with relief. Now that they made sure the civilians were okay, it was time to take care of that monster.

"Burning Mandala!" Mars exclaimed.

"Flower Hurricane!" Jupiter shouted.

Both attacks hit the monster, who grunt in pain as it hit the ground.

"Now, Sailor Moon! Try to heal it!" Mars said.

"Okay!"

Sailor Moon conjured the Eternal Tiare and aimed at the monster.

"Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss!"

Pink light flared at the top of the Tiare and streamed toward the monster in multiple waves which hit it directly.

"Purify!" the monster screamed.

The dark aura disappeared, revealing an ordinary man. Jupiter rushed to his side to see if he was okay while Sailor Moon went to check on Nyanko, worried for her classmate.

"What… what happened?" Nyanko asked weakly.

"It's okay, I defeated the monster and we saved that kid!" Sailor Moon reassured her. "You were really brave back there, but it's over now. You don't have to be scared anymore."

As her gaze fell on Sailor Moon, Nyanko's eyes widen in awe.

"But you are… Sailor Moon…!? Wow, you're even prettier in person!" Nyanko excitedly said.

"Eh!?"

"Thank you for saving me! It's an honour to meet you!"

"Ah… There's no need to thank me, I'm just… doing my duty… haha…"

"So modest!"

"Sailor Moon, we need to talk!" Mars said. "It's about this monster… huh…"

"Oh, don't mind me, I was on my way," Nyanko said. "But, I was here with some classmates and I'm kinda worried about them…"

"Huh, don't be. We evacuated them earlier. They must have gone home already," Jupiter nervously said.

"Ah. Okay. Well, I'll do the same then. Thanks again for your help!"

The Sailor Senshi nodded and started walking away. Nyanko remained in the park for a moment, looking at them leave while smiling to herself.

"So I was right. Usagi-chan really is Sailor Moon. And her friends are the other Sailor Senshi," Nyanko said to herself. "And that monster… it must be that. Good thing I found her. Things are gonna get uglier from now on…"

Yes, Nyanko was definitely acting suspiciously fruity in the manga and I'm going off of that with my heart content and having a lot of fun!

Once again I hope you enjoyed it and please let me know what you think!
