White Cat monopolized Usagi's dream. She was looking at her with benevolence, her eyes filled with warm feelings behind her thin mask.
"Usagi-chan," she called softly. "You can trust me. I am your ally, after all."
Usagi nodded. Yep, that was right. White Cat was her ally, a fellow sailor senshi.
The cat girl closed the distance between them, gently stroking Usagi's cheek.
Then it was at this moment Usagi realized something was wrong.
How did White Cat know her real identity?
Before Usagi could even voice her concern, the cat girl suddenly seized her neck. Calling her White Cat would be inaccurate anymore as her outfit had suddenly turned pitch black.
A truly maleficent grin appeared on the black cat girl's face as she began to strangle Usagi.
"A-argh… who…?"
Usagi felt like she knew her. But this black cat girl was no ally. She was an old enemy. She was…
"Usagi-chan," the cat girl said, too softly for her current behaviour. But it was unmistakably her voice.
"... Huh…?"
"Hey, Usagi-chan! Wake up!"
Usagi opened her eyes. She was sitting at her desk, her head resting on her arms. She had fallen asleep in class.
Before she could feel embarrassed, Usagi noticed who woke her up.
It was Nyanko.
"N-Nyanko-san…?"
Her classmate smiled warmly at her.
"Good morning, sleepyhead."
Somehow, Usagi felt uneasy. Why is that? It was just Nyanko. Was it because of her dream?
…
Dream?
What was she dreaming about again? She felt like it was important yet she could remember.
"Couldn't have been that important then," she thought.
Nyanko cocked her head, pondering.
"Everything alright, Usagi-chan?"
"Hm? Oh, yeah, sorry. I wasn't quite fully awake yet, haha…"
"Oh, I see. I get that. Sometimes I stay up late at night and I'm so tired in the morning. Anyway, Usagi-chan…"
Nyanko suddenly started stroking one of Usagi's odango buns.
"Those buns are so cute! I love them! They remind me of Sailor Moon."
"A-ah, is that so?"
"Yep! I see you're a fan too! I wish I was as good as you at taking care of my hair. I usually just bread them. It's too thin to do much."
"Is that so?" Usagi replied, suddenly reaching for Nyanko's head.
Her hair was thin but soft too. Usagi could imagine running her fingers through it when undone would be easy. Much to her surprise, Nyanko let out a purr upon getting her head stroke.
"Is she… purring?" Usagi wondered.
That was surprisingly cute. Upon this discovery, Usagi began to rub Nyanko's head. The purring intensified.
"Am I interrupting something?"
It was Minako who said that, grinning. Usagi immediately retracted her hand, blushing. The talk they had yesterday was still in her mind and making her embarrassed.
"Pull yourself together, Usagi! Nyanko-san has a crush on Sailor Moon, not you!" she told herself.
Granted she was Sailor Moon, but Nyanko didn't know that. Obviously.
Right?
"Minako-chan…"
"Hm? Anyway, Usagi-chan, we're going to the arcade after class, remember?"
"Oh? Oh! Right…" Usagi said, standing up. "Nyanko-san, I have to go. See you tomorrow at school!"
"Ah, of course! Have fun!"
Usagi and Minako left the classroom as Nyanko waved at them.
Usagi wasn't expecting to see those two at the arcade. Minako seemed less than pleased.
"I won't let you win that easily!" Reiko exclaimed.
"Those are some bold words coming from someone who's nine turns behind me," Karasuma sneered.
Usagi was surprised to see Reiko and Karasuma there. They were both currently playing at the race car game.
"Aww, but Karasuma-san, I never said that I would win. Just that I won't let you win."
"What are you…!?"
Reiko suddenly stopped driving. Her car in the game went still and, out of the blue, she turned around, driving in the wrong direction.
"What are you doing!?"
"I already told you. I won't let you win that easily, Karasuma-san," Reiko replied in a coy voice.
As Karasuma's car was getting closer to the goal, Reiko was driving toward her.
"This isn't a game of chicken, this is a race dumbass!" Karasuma exclaimed.
"Here I come, Karasuma-san!"
"Eek…!"
Karasuma tried to dodge Reiko's car but she wasn't fast enough and both vehicles collide violently. Both cars rolled over the road and a "Game Over" appeared on the screen.
"Reiko…!?"
"Aww, looks like we both lost. Too bad."
"That's not how that game is supposed to be played…!"
"Ehh, I didn't see it was against the rules to crash your car into your opponent. And if you ask me, I think losing together is way more romantic."
"What are you even talking about…"
"Dying together is also very romantic."
"Hey, you're starting to be very grim."
"Ugh, what are you two doing here… especially you, Karasuma-san," Minako let out.
Karasuma turned back and immediately looked displeased.
"You… And here I thought you would never bother me again."
"That should be my line. Aren't you too old for this kind of place?" Minako taunted.
"Why you…!"
"Eh…!? But I'm the one who wanted to come here…" Reiko said.
"Ah? W-Well, it's not like you were that old, Reiko-san…"
"We're the same age!" Karasuma exclaimed.
"What!?" Minako cried out.
"Minako-chan, that's rude! It doesn't matter how old someone is, arcades are for everyone," Usagi scolded.
"How old do you even think I am…?" Karasuma mumbled. "Anyway, I have no time for a brat such as you. Our deal is over, and you aren't supposed to bother us ever again-"
"Uh, excuse me? I have a right to come to the arcade if I want, you dreadful woman!" Minako protested.
"My my, Karasuma-san, let's not fight, okay?" Reiko tried to calm things down. "Let's just all enjoy ourselves!"
"What a lively conversation you're all having. Mind if we join us?"
Haruka made her apparition, accompanied by Michiru.
"Oh, Haruka-san, Michiru-san!" Usagi said.
"Ah, Kaiou-san! Fancy meeting you here," Reiko said.
"The pleasure is mine, Aya-san. Nice to see you too, Karasuma-san. I hope your head is doing well."
"Oh, that's funny, you're not the only person who told me that."
"She meant your medical examination," Karasuma replied, exasperate. "Because you hit your head the other day."
"Ohh… Then yes, my head is doing fine. Thanks for your concern."
"I'm glad."
Haruka leaned down, looking at the screen.
"I didn't know it was possible for both players to get a game over," she said.
"That's because of this dummy," Karasuma said. "She crashed into me and we both lost."
"Uh… Why would you do such a thing?" Haruka asked Reiko, dumbfounded.
"There were no rules against it," Reiko replied with an innocent smile. "It may not be a victory, but a defeat with no victor is better than last place, don't you think?"
"That's… one way to look at it… But I wouldn't want to drive on the same road as you," Haruka joked.
"Oh, don't worry, she won't get a licence anytime soon," Karasuma said. "I'm her driver."
"You're driving her around with your tiny ridiculous scooter?" Minako asked with a smirk.
"Excuse me? You should know a scooter is a very practical means of transport! And I do have a second seat!"
"I don't mind Karasuma-san driving me on her scooter because then I have to hold on to her to not fall," Reiko said. "This is very romantic."
"H-Hey, Reiko…!" Karasuma exclaimed, blushing lightly.
"You guys aren't really trying to hide it huh," Minako commented.
"So that scooter outside belongs to you huh… Interesting. We should race someday," Haruka with a grin.
"Hm? You're… Tenou Haruka, the car racer… Sure. But you better not underestimate me," Karasuma replied to her challenge with a smirk.
She then stood up.
"If you'd excuse me, I have to go to the restroom."
"Oh, should I come with you?" Reiko asked.
"... I actually do need to use the restroom."
"Ah. Okay then."
Karasuma walked away and left the area.
"What… did that mean?" Minako asked.
"Hm? What did what mean?" Reiko replied, with an innocent smile.
"I feel like something suggestive was implied right now…"
"I have no idea what you mean by that," Reiko added with a now mischievous smile.
Minako sighed. It seemed like Reiko was way less innocent than she appeared to be…
"Kyaaa! A monster!"
It was the same feeling as before, this dark aura filled with malice and evil. They all looked for where the scream came from and spotted it- the monster. Same as before, it was a shadowy creature with red glowy eyes.
"Again!?" Usagi exclaimed.
"Eh!? Hey, can you guys confirm to me if this time it's a real monster or not?" Reiko asked.
"This is a real monster!" Minako exclaimed. "You need to run!"
"But what about you-"
"Don't worry, we will escape too! Just run, now!"
"O-Okay…!"
Reiko did as she was told while the others ran in another direction. But it wasn't to escape. They needed to hide to transform away from indiscreet eyes.
"Moon Eternal, Make Up!"
"Venus Crystal Power, Make Up!"
"Uranus Crystal Power, Make Up!"
"Neptune Crystal Power, Make Up!"
The four girls turned into their sailor senshi form.
"Ahhh! Why are you going after me!?"
Venus looked where the scream came from.
"That's Reiko-san's voice! She's in trouble!"
They all rushed towards the voice. Reiko was being pursued by the monster.
"Why me again!? Ugh, Karasuma-san! Help me!"
Karasuma was nowhere to be seen. She was probably still in the restroom- if so, it was really surprising she didn't hear all this commotion, or she was really busy there.
Reiko, unfortunately, ended up cornered by the creature. It seized her by the neck, pinning her against the wall.
"Argh…! Seriously…! How… rude…!" Reiko grunted. "... Kara…suma… san… help…"
"You right there, stop at once!" Sailor Moon exclaimed. "How dare you attack an innocent woman!? In the name of the moon, I shall punish you!"
The monster completely ignored her.
"Hey-"
Crack!
It was the sound of something clapping. It happened in only a fraction of a second. Something had wrapped itself around the monster's arm, looking like some kind of rope.
It was a whip.
"What…?" Sailor Moon mumbled.
She turned back, only to be shocked by what she witnessed. An unknown woman was restraining the beast with a whip. But it wasn't what was most shocking- it was her clothes.
She was dressed in a very similar fashion as Tuxedo Mask.
She was wearing a suit, the jacket and vest being red above a black shirt, with black pants and a red tie. She was also wearing as accessories a black hat with a red brim, with a decorative red feather, white gloves and a red thin mask.
"...Who…?" Venus said.
The mystery woman said no word and pulled on her whip, forcing the creature to come closer to her and let go of Reiko. The monster suddenly roared a dark shock wave at her, forcing her to let go.
"...!"
Ring-a-ling.
"Tinkle Resonance!"
A sudden sound wave hit the monster, neutralizing the shock wave it was about to launch. Sailor Moon knew who it was without even turning back.
"Now is your chance, Sailor Moon!"
Sailor Moon didn't need to be told twice. She conjured the Eternal Tiare and aimed at the monster.
"Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss!"
Pink light flared at the top of the Tiare and streamed toward the monster in multiple waves which hit it directly.
"Purify!" the monster screamed.
The dark aura disappeared and the creature returned to its original form; a young boy.
White Cat was standing nearby. Her attention was focused on the masked woman in a suit.
"Who… are you?" White Cat asked.
"I take it she's not an ally of yours," Venus said.
"I wish I could say yes, but I have no idea who that is…"
The mystery woman remained silent. She gave no attention to the senshi and glared at White Cat, before glancing at Reiko, who was unharmed. Then, again without a word, she left.
"W-Wait!" Sailor Moon called.
"Ugh… why did that glare give me a chill down my back," White Cat said. "Anyway, I should leave too-"
"Not so fast!"
Uranus and Neptune suddenly got in her way.
"It's rude to leave so soon. How about we finish that talk from last time," Neptune said.
"You claim to be an ally, and yet you keep everything about yourself hidden," Uranus accused.
"... I really don't have time for that," White Cat replied. "I have nothing more to say to you."
"Then I'll make you!"
"I really don't want to fight you…"
"Please, stop!"
Much to everyone's surprise, it was Venus who said that, getting between the outers and White Cat.
"Venus…!?"
"She's not our enemy!" Venus declared. "She is constantly helping us! It's obvious she has no ill intentions towards us!"
"We can't trust her so easily! We don't even know where she's from!" Uranus protested.
"Even so…! I want to trust her… no, I believe her! I have to trust her so she'd trust us with that kind of stuff about her!"
"Venus, you're being unreasonable…!"
"Sailor Venus… I do appreciate your support, but I do not wish to see comrades fight one another. I'd rather prefer you all seeing me as an enemy than you turning on each other," White Cat said.
"W-White Cat…"
Even Uranus and Neptune seemed taken aback.
"I wish I could answer all your questions, but… I don't know how. I don't mind if you can't trust me, it won't change the fact that I'm your ally. But I don't intend to get in the way of your teamwork. Now then-"
"Wait!" Reiko suddenly exclaimed. "Do we… know each other?"
White Cat could barely look at Reiko, guilt in her eyes.
"I don't think so… sorry…"
White Cat finally left the area. Reiko remained pondering.
"I'm back… did I miss anything?" Karasuma asked before noticing the senshi. "Huh…? What are you guys doing here? Reiko…?"
"Karasuma-san… were you in the restroom this entire time?" Reiko asked.
"Hm? Yeah? Why, did something happen…?"
"... You really needed to use the bathroom, huh…"
"W-Well, yeah…?"
Karasuma looked a little bit embarrassed by the assumption. Reiko suddenly looked away, pouting.
"Mm, whatever! Someone way cooler than you rescued me anyway," Reiko let out as she walked away.
"Eh!? 'Rescue' you? What are you talking about? Reiko!? Wait!"
Karasuma went after her, still calling out her name as they both left the arcade. Venus suddenly smirked.
"Well, guess who's going to sleep on the couch tonight…"
"Reiko! Reiko! Where did you go!? Reiko!?"
Karasuma was desperately calling for Reiko. The later was hiding behind a tree in the park, still confused about what had just happened.
"Karasuma-san… what are you playing at?" she thought. "And that white cat girl…"
She had to admit, that mystery woman looked quite good in that suit. She nodded at that thought.
"Magnifique. You are truly magnifique!"
An unknown feminine voice was seemingly talking to her. Reiko turned back to see who it was.
"Yes, I'm talking to you, mon chéri."
Reiko was now facing a woman who seemed a little older than her, around her height. She was dressed elegantly, wearing well-fitted black pants and a light-blue shirt, with a pair of suspenders and a bow tie. On top of that, she was wearing a marine fedora with a pink brim and a butterfly accessory above her wavy, long royal blue hair. She was really pretty. The woman was smiling at her, putting down her pink sunglasses.
"Yes, you are definitely jolie. Enough to be a model."
"Uh… thanks?" Reiko replied, a little bit embarrassed. "Do we… know each other…?"
"Oh, but I do know you, ma jolie."
"...Really?"
"Of course! You are Aya Reiko, the TV idol, isn't it?"
"Ah! Of course! That makes sense. And you are…?"
"Oh, where are my manners, not introducing myself first! I am Shigekane Hirari, nice to meet you, Aya-san."
Shigekane gave her a polite bow as she handed her her business card. This looked very familiar to Reiko who took the card. Written on it was: "Shigekane Hirari, manager at Hoshi Agency", with a star symbol.
"Hoshi Agency?" Reiko wondered.
"This is a modelling agency. As I said, you are belle enough to be a model."
"Eh, this is very flattering… but I already have an agent…"
"Oh, is that so? Well then, this person must be very lucky to work with you. But if you ever change your mind and is interested in modelling, you have my card."
Shigekane suddenly got closer to her, putting a hand on her shoulder.
"Or if you need someone's help, you have my number now," she added.
"...hm?"
"Reiko! There you are… huh? Who's that?"
Karasuma was staring at Shigekane with suspicion. The modelling manager smirked, tipping her fedora to both of them.
"I wish you bonne chance for the future," she said with an enigmatic smile before walking away.
Karasuma cocked her head.
"Huh… who was that weirdo…? Hey, Reiko…?"
"Hm? What is it, Karasuma-san?" Reiko said with a sweet smile.
"Are you… still mad at me? Because I have no idea what I did wrong-"
Reiko shut down Karasuma by softly putting a finger above her lips.
"Me, mad? Of course, I'm not mad, Karasuma-san," Reiko said coyly.
"... Why do I feel like I'm getting mixed signals…"
"I was just thinking how great you look in a suit."
"...Eh…? Where does that come from…?"
Karasuma looked genuinely confused. Reiko chuckled.
"Don't worry about that. Now, you will make it up to me tonight… Right, Karasuma-san?"
Karasuma was left completely bewildered yet flushed.
"O-Of course…"
Seemed like Venus was wrong. Karasuma won't sleep on the couch tonight.
