Chap 1

Ella's 'special' gift

Before there was the United States, the compact disc, or even the beloved television, there was a land of Kings and Queens, where books, yes books was a main form of entertainment. This is the land of Arria, a land of enchantment, and the home of the baron's daughter named Ella.

Now everyone in Arria was born with two very special gifts. It is very important to know this because it is the basis of our story. On the eight month of their, then, fourteen month calendar, two babies were born with only one gift. One of them was the crown prince, William Dabny, the other Ella Smith, the very same daughter of the baron that I mentioned earlier.

The latter's gift was that she could not break a promise. No matter how hard she tried. Even as a very small child this occurred. Now her father being a very smart man decided that when she was too young to know any better he would make her promise that she would agree to any promise someone would ask her to make. Now when you're two and the only word you know is 'I promise' (also the handy work of her father) you agree. From that day on she has basically been the slave of anyone who wishes it.

The prince, on the other hand, had a much less controlling gift. His was that he could not distrust anybody. If he thought that someone looked fishy, it wasn't because they were suspicious but that here face looked a little pouty and that they had big lips or that their lips were too far apart.

The baron went straight to the king and queen as soon as his wife died (in child birth) and explained his situation. In those days this meant that they were meant for each if each other of they were both born with one gift at the same time. It was 'meant to be'. Thus on that day they were betrothed. That arrangement is very important to our story, for if that had not been decided that they would not have met. And if they had not of met that they wouldn't have become best friends. And if they hadn't become best friend than they wouldn't of fallen in love.

This seems like the perfect fairy tail to you doesn't it. It would have been except for the fact that the baron got re-married when Ella turned fifteen. It also would have been if he hadn't died a couple of months later. This is where our true story begins…

A/N I hoped you enjoyed it. If you did please tell me because I'm not sure if I want to continue this story or not.
