Part 2

"Still hurts? Lorelai- you don't have a clue what hurting means. You've moved on, you've got the husband you've always wanted, the step-daughter you've always wanted. Don't you see? Your life is exactly the way you pictured it, the only difference is the guy. Let's face it, it was always meant to be Christopher. Then there's me…..I'm left with nothing. I'm always the one left with nothing" Luke stood up, walked to the window and tried to stop the tears from falling.

Lorelai stood up and followed him, stopping behind him. She put her arms on his shoulder and turned him around, she looked at his broken face and whispered into his ear "you're wrong Luke, it was never simply about being married or having a step- daughter. I wanted all them things with YOU. When we discussed having kids together I never hesitated, I wanted that with you but with Chris I hesitated. Its wrong, it's all wrong. It was supposed to be you, it was always supposed to be you". Lorelai looked at Luke and waited to gage his reaction, he looked down at his feet and pulled further away from her.

"Lorelai, what are you doing here? What do you want from me?" he asked,

"I don't want anything from you Luke, I think, erm I mean, I think I just want………..you", she slowly took a step towards him,

"Lorelai, we can't…..you're married",

"I know. Erm….things with Christopher aren't going to work out. I'm not happy Luke, I haven't been happy since we ended, well actually, since before we ended. It's all got so messed up in my head. I miss you Luke, every damn day I miss you, I tried to move on and be happy but nothing helps. Right now I need to go and tell my husband our marriage is over. I guess I just wanted you to know…."

"No, you wanted to come here and see if I'm going to wait around for you.."

"And are you? she asked looking slightly hopeful,

"Goodbye Lorelai, I'll see you soon ok?" and with that he offered a small smile.

Lorelai gave Luke a quick hug and left his apartment.
