Castlevania: Nightmare of the Azure Moon

Announcement: Across Oceans of Time

Hello to my readers and sorry I haven't been updating as of late, I've been busy with some real-life priorities. Though I'm making time today to update you on the status of this project as well as a sequel work.

Currently, this story is still being worked on and next chapter will shed light on Alucard's childhood and past as well as his relationship with Christophorus as well as Hunter meeting Arnice and Lilysse again for the first time since he left for Yharnam. I'm going to be clear though, this Alucard is the original timeline version of him, so the Netflix version should be ignored entirely when it comes to this story, though I'll take some inspiration from it from time to time. Don't expect a traumatic sexual history, orientation, F-Bombs and snarky barbs from Alucard in this story. It's important to note that they're different characters entirely, like Lords of Shadow Alucard and Captain N Alucard, who is oddly enough, the first animated version of the character. Though the Netflix version might have a cameo appearance at some point or a small role in the story and will probably discuss his differences with the original version, they're just different enough to make that kind of conversation interesting and Netflix Alucard could get the original Alucard to reconcile his growing feelings for Arnice. I'm still deciding on that.

Now onto the main announcement. The sequel will adapt the events of Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon with an unexplored event in the Castlevania timeline, a few months before the events of Bram Stoker's Dracula novel, which I will eventually adapt as well.

The main protagonists will be Quincy Morris, father of John Morris from Bloodlines and grandfather of Jonathan Morris from Portrait of Ruin and Vladimir "Vlad" Drăculești, a vampire noble hailing from Romania.

Quincy Morris is the heir to the Morris Clan and the current keeper of the Vampire Killer whip, he hails from the America and was trained to be a Vampire Hunter, he has doubts about the duty entrusted to his clan by the Belmonts, and he can be brash, smug and somewhat hotheaded, but he has a good heart and sense of justice. He'll take inspiration from characters like Dante from Devil May Cry and Han Solo from Star Wars.

Vladimir "Vlad" Drăculești has a secret, though, his true identity is Dracula, but incompletely resurrected due to a botched ritual. As a botched resurrection, he has most of his powers, but lacks his connection to Chaos, so he's not inclined to be the personification of evil in the world and thus, not the Dark Lord. To better explain this, he's the Dracula we see at the very end of Castlevania Symphony of the Night, the glimpse of humanity and regret when he asks Lisa for forgiveness and bids farewell to Alucard, it's that moment fleshed out into an entire character. To describe his character development, I'll borrow elements from Soma Cruz, Gabriel Belmont/Dracula and V from Devil May Cry 5. In terms of power level, he's about as powerful as Alucard. The intent of this iteration of Dracula is pretty much laying the groundwork for Soma Cruz in the future. I'm taking heavy inspiration from Bram Stoker's Dracula starring Gary Oldman for this story, mainly his relationship with Aluche, Alstromeria and Malvasia.

Another supporting character I'll introduce is Elvis/Yves, the dhampir protagonist of Castlevania: Moonlight Rhapsody, the upcoming mobile game. He'll be a knight of Curia and a childhood friend of Aluche, Lillianna and Ruenheid. He idolizes Alucard and wishes to fight his cursed blood and protect humanity as well.

The final supporting characters are the twins Fidel and Florie Belmont, members of the Belmont Clan who are knights of Curia as well and they're both friends of Quincy Morris and Elvis/Yves, though Fidel and Quincy butt heads a lot over the Vampire Killer and comparing their abilities, though by the end, they come to an understanding.

The dynamic between Vlad and Aluche takes heavy inspiration from Bram Stoker's Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola. They have a deep connection that spans centuries before their births since Vlad is Dracula and Aluche resembles Alstromeria. The title of this story is named after a quote from the movie, "I have crossed oceans of time to find you". Malvasia is another component to this story since she deeply loved Mathias Cronqvist, who disappeared to become Dracula after Alstromeria's death.

Vlad, Quincy, Elvis, Fidel and Florie will also have unique dynamics and interactions with the heroines, such as Camilla, Muveil, Veruschka and Eleanore. Camilla might serve as Quincy's love interest in the story and John's eventual mother.

This is my quick update on the status of this story and the following sequel. Sorry if I haven't updated in a while, I've been experiencing writer's block and some embarrassment over the poor quality of some of my older stories, so I plan on several reboots/retellings in the future. It's a huge undertaking and almost all my older stories and some of my newer ones will be rebooted, so updates will be very sporadic as I work on them. My first reboot project, Cross of the Endless Night was moderately successful and I'm proud of how it surpassed the original, which wasn't hard because Cross of Sorrow was complete shite. There's also pandemic fatigue and all that junk. I have an idea for a Castlevania and Vanitas no Carte crossover story that's also based on Bram Stoker's Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola and it's almost identical in concept and characters to Across Oceans of Time, but with Vanitas no Carte replacing Nights of Azure as the secondary universe.

This work is a long way down the road, and I'll focus more on my older, more in-demand stories like Rosario of Sorrow and maybe I'll finally get to updating High School DMD. I have a lot of ideas, but I'll renew my focus.

Now to answer my reviewers.

kalakauai

Thanks for your interest and I might introduce an older Richter, only time will tell.

Zero-Nightmare

Thanks, I'm hoping to balance them out competently.

Thanks again, though I hope I cleared up that this is original canon Alucard and not Netflix Alucard.

Indeed, since everything can be blamed on Ludegert.

Thanks, and good luck to you, too.

Alhazad2003

Yeah, and Dracula's fall being a product of Ludegert's hubris and arrogance is something that will be thematically relevant to the story and something that rouses deep emotion in Alucard.

Yeah, looking back, I could've waited a bit longer. My bad.

SephirothTrueHeartlessAngel

Soon, I just need to replay Nights of Azure for motivation.
