Chapter Thirteen: Love Turns Into Impatience

Izuku had been walking with Kyouka per their normal schedule, however she had been eerily quiet the entire time. He wasn't sure if it was because she had been mad at him, or if she had something wrong.

Surely she would tell him right..? Right? "Um… K-Kyo? A-Are you alright?" He asked the girl. She had been deep in her own thoughts thinking of the day before at his admittance of jealousy.

She was concerned if that meant he had liked her or if he was just being a protective friend, honestly she could see it being both.

"H-Huh? Y-Yeah, I'm fine…" She said looking at the boy's worried expression. "Just got a lot on my mind, y'know?"

Izuku wondered what could be on the girl's mind. Perhaps she was thinking about the battle training, or maybe it did have to do with what happened yesterday..

"W-Well, I'm all ears if you want to talk about it." He'd suggest, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. Kyouka stopped walking and pondered the idea of asking the boy upfront.

She would have her answer, but perhaps at the cost of her friendship with the boy. Or perhaps she could be more discreet about it and spare herself the embarrassment.

Izuku had turned as Kyouka stopped walking, she had been looking at the ground in thought before locking eyes with the boy. Her gaze was quite serious, so he turned to face her.

"Izuku, do you like someone?" She'd ask, very straightforwardly. Izuku froze in place, it felt as if glass had just shattered in his head.

How should he reply? "Yeah you,"? No! That would lead to him getting turned down in a moment's notice.

Izuku didn't know how to respond with words, so he just simply nodded as his face tinged with a light pink.

Kyouka quirked a brow at this, could it be someone in their class? Was it her?

'OH IF IT WAS URARAKA!' Kyouka unknowingly scowled, which made the greenette in front of her panic.

"O-Oh! Sorry, uh… I-Is it someone in our class, or…?" She questioned, walking up to the boy so they could continue their walk to UA.

"S-Something like that, yeah…" He mumbled, looking away from the girl. This was way too embarrassing to admit to her. What if he let it slip and she was weirded out..?

"O-Oh… W-Who is it..?" She asked a bit nervously. Truthfully she wished that it wasn't someone else, she had a feeling that he'd like Uraraka as they were getting increasingly close to one another as the days progressed.

Izuku probably didn't even like her, what was she thinking… There's no way he would like a flat chested tomboy like her, she had nothing really in the looks department… Izuku was just a guy who preferred that kind of stuff wasn't he?

Izuku screams internally as his mind runs a mile a minute. Should he just tell her the truth and get it out of the way?

He wasn't one to lie but he also didn't want to risk losing her at all… She was way too important to him and he only realized that he liked her because of the talk he had with his mother last night.

"It's a bit weird right now…" He admitted through a sigh. His mother glared at him, something that was rare in the Midoriya household.

"What happened?" She asked, her tone implying that she was demanding an answer. Inko was worried that Izuku might have done something to the girl, or worse she did something to him.

The boy flinched at his mother's tone, but complied, "I… I think I l-like J-Jirou, mom…" He admitted. He looked away from his mother as her eye's both sparkled with joy, and brimmed with tears.

'Hisashi, our little boy's growing up!' She thought, as she wiped her eyes dry.

"Well, it was about time you realized." She said, giggling as her son's face turned a bright red.

"Y-Y-You knew!?" He'd shout out as his mother stood in amusement. He really was dense sometimes.

"Of course, I knew! Even Jirou's parent's know, you guys like each other." Inko revealed. Izuku just stood in bewilderment at the fact they knew before he was even able to fully admit it out loud like this.

"W-Well what should I do? I-I don't think she'd like me back… P-Plus I don't want to ruin our friendship! I-I value her a lot…"

Now in Inko's eyes the boy had just revealed something deeper than just "liking" Jirou, but she couldn't bestow that upon her son just yet. That would definitely cause him to pass out or worse, vomit.

"It's simple, Izuku." She'd say walking back into the kitchen.

"You tell her."

Izuku sighed, his mother was right, he needed to just get it off his chest. And who knows? Maybe something good would come out of it…

"A-Actually, Kyouka i-it's-" He'd start before a camera and microphone were shoved in his face.

"What's it like learning from All Might!?" A news reporter asked, nearly shoving the microphone down his throat. Kyouka glared hard at the journalist before them, interrupting such a vital moment like that! HOW DARE SHE!?

"No questions, sorry! He's due at the nurses office!" Kyouka answered, shoving the boy onto school grounds, but not before the woman moved onto her next.

"What does the symbol of peace look like in front of the class?" She pressed on, not caring for the fact that they had places to be. Kyouka was getting increasingly frustrated with the woman and jacked her earphone into her camera, causing it to stop working in a moment's notice.

"Oh, looks like your camera broke." Kyouka said nonchalantly as she walked off to catch up with Izuku.

Izuku had made his way to the nurse's office and as he made his way out Kyouka managed to catch him.

"Ah! There you are! Sorry we got separated because of the journalists." She exclaimed through her breathing. She had run all the way there, and was now panting.

"I-It's fine, let's just get to class." He said trying to avoid the topic they were talking about before the press interrupted them.

Kyouka obliged though she would definitely get the answer out of him another time. He wasn't going to get away from this that easily.

The two of them headed to class, the two conversing about the prior battles, Izuku learning about Kaminari and Mineta's perverted nature in the process. He had quite a good reason to dislike the two of them now.

Soon class started, and Aizawa walked through the large door to the classroom as the class quickly piped down.

"Good work with yesterday's battle training." He stated, laying papers down on the teacher's desk. "I've looked over your grades and evaluations." He said, eyeing both Izuku and Bakugou. The two of them both flinched at his gaze.

"Bakugou. Grow up already. Do you really see it appropriate hurting your classmate over some pointless squabbles? Quit wasting your talent." He scolded, before turning to the greenette who was already staring straight at the man.

"Midoriya. You did good in the first half, but you had the same issue as Bakugou. Grow up. And quit breaking your arms." He glared harder at the boy, if he was going to continue hurting himself he wasn't going to cut it as a hero.

"Learn to control your quirk because just trying isn't going to cut it." He said, before sighing. "However you're showing promise. Work at it, Midoriya. I hate repeating myself."

"Yes sir!" Izuku exclaimed, determination flaring in his eyes. Kyouka admired the boy in front of her, smiling at the fact their teacher praised him.

"Now onto homeroom business. Sorry for the sudden announcement, but today you'll pick a class president." He said, the class's attention being grabbed at doing something normal for once.

The class erupted with declarations of making one another president, only leading to Iida speaking up to scold the class.

"Quiet down everyone!" He shouted, "Leading the many is a task of heavy responsibility! But ambition does not equate to ability!"

The boy stood from his desk, a serious look on his face. "This sacred office demands the trust of its constituents! If this is to be a democracy, then I put forward the motion that our true leader must be chosen by election!"

Everyone in the class agreed on the fact that it was a fair system, even gaining approval from a sleep deprived Aizawa.

The students had amassed their votes, and surprisingly Izuku was given 4 votes, leading to a wide-eyed Izuku at the front of the room, with Yaomomo right next to him.

"W-W-What? S-S-S-Seriously!?" He said, as he looked to the rest of the class who only sat quiet in approval of this choice.

"Fine. So your president is Izuku Midoriya, and the vice president is Momo Yaoyorozu." Aizawa said, squirming out of his sleeping bag. The lunch bell rang, and Izuku and his group, along with the addition of Yaomomo, headed to the lunch room.

"W-Wow, I-I can't believe I got that many votes…" Izuku said, sitting at the table with the rest of the group.

"Well, you did quite well in the battle training, Midoriya-kun." Yaomomo said, taking a bite from her rice. "Although you did get hurt…"

"Yeah! How could they not vote for you Izu? You're the class's glass cannon!" Kyouka teased, slapping the boy on the back. He chuckled lightly at his expense. "Seriously, you were great, Izuku."

The boy blushed at the girl's compliment, and hid his face in his bowl as he dug into his katsudon. "I-I'm not that great…" He mumbled.

"Oh please." She said, biting into her food and rolling her eyes at the boy's humble attitude.

"I-I'm just worried if I can really be class president or not." He admitted, his worry present in his tone. Could he really handle being in charge of the class?

"You can." Uraraka simply said, enjoying her food to the fullest. Iida positioned his glasses properly on his face, and looked at the boy.

"Worry not." He started, "Midoriya, your grit and decisiveness in a pinch make you perfectly suited to lead us all. That's why I voted for you." He said, surprising Izuku at the admittance that one of his votes was him.

'Told ya do!' Kyouka thought, smirking at the boy. Although her action did not go unnoticed by Yaomomo.

"But didn't you wanna be president, Iida? You've got glasses and everything!" She said, giggling lightly.

The boy gulped down his food, "Again, ambition and suitability are different matters. I humbly made the choice I felt was correct." He said, taking a sip from his orange juice. Izuku stared at the boy, and smiled.

"Thanks Iida, but I think you're also good for the job…" He said, before realizing something. "But, 'humbly'?"

Iida flinched, and Uraraka turned to the boy excited. "The way you talk Iida, are you a rich kid!?"

Iida then began to explain his relation to the pro hero Ingenium, and how he was next in line to become a hero in the family. Just as Izuku had All Might, Iida had Ingenium.

Before the conversation could continue, an alarm was sounded in the school, there was a security breach!

"Someone's infiltrated the building!" The group heard some students say, as they all rushed for the exit of the building.

Izuku glanced outside to see Aizawa and Present Mic outside pushing back the press as they waited for the police.

'It's the press!' He thought, as he pushed ahead to grab Kyouka and Uraraka.

"Guys, It's the press! We need to tell the others!" He shouted above the students screaming and rushing out of the building, leaving a giant blockade at the door. Izuku quickly instructed Uraraka to use her quirk on him.

"Kyouka when I'm up in the air, plug your jacks into the wall, and disconnect the alarms so they can hear me!" He instructed, as he started floating up into the air.

Kyouka severed the connection of the alarms as Izuku used 3% of OFA to boost himself ahead of the rest of the students, grabbing their attention immediately as he stood on the doorframe.

"Everyone! Everythings fine, please calm down! It's just the press!" He shouted out as students paved a way for him to jump down. He leaped off the doorframe and landed as everyone headed back to their respective classes.

He exhaled through his mouth, "Whew…" He shook his head, to let his hair get frizzy again as he was soon glomped by Kyouka.

"AGH!" He shouted, as they bumped into a wall. "W-What's the occasion, K-Kyo?" He questioned as she released him, she held a huge smile on her face as she looked at him with sparkly eyes.

"You looked so badass! How did you bounce off the walls like that!?" She questioned as the boy simply just shrugged. Iida and Uraraka find out that they made the right choice making that boy to be the class president.

"L-Let's just get back to class."

As the gang entered the class, Izuku received much praise for his actions in stopping the panic. He even got a nod of approval from Aizawa. Izuku however wondered how the press even got in, UA had top security that couldn't be breached.

"So, Izuku…" Kyouka started, as the day came to an end. The rest of the group went off ahead, per Yaomomo's instruction as she wanted the two of them to have some time alone. "You gonna answer my question now?"

Izuku turned to the girl, and started shaking nervously. But he had thought about it a bit as the day progressed and decided that he wasn't ready to tell her yet. Now wasn't the time to tell her, he felt that it wouldn't be right to tell her how he felt... Yet.

"H-How about this, I-I'll tell you i-if I win the Sports festival this year." He suggested. The sports festival was quite a while away so surely by then he'd be ready right? Plus there was no way he could win the Sports Festival.

Not while he was still breaking his bones like this. He knew he had quite a ways to go before he could actually succeed in that feat.

"What!? That's outrageous why not tell me now!?" She questioned, as the boy stood from his desk and walked out, Kyouka followed him as she was already packed and ready to go.

"Because it's payback for teasing me." He snickered, as she pouted angrily. She did not like that he was going to be petty about this.

"Well why not give me a hint as to who it is?" She asked, hoping for just a glimpse as to who it could be. Izuku thought about it, he wondered if he gave a vague hint if that would leave her satisfied or if she would just ask more.

Scratch that she'd ask more about it regardless. He sighed. He'd just have to find a way to keep it as hidden as he could.

"F-Fine… Sh-She has short hair, and it's really pretty." He said, admiring her with a subtle gaze.

Kyouka turned to the boy right when he looked away, as a blush of her own rose to her cheeks. Was he talking about her? Or was it Uraraka? Or was it that pink girl!? They barely talk to each other!

"What!? That's not a good hint at all!" She complained, the boy simply ignored her and kept walking.

"No fair…" She mumbled, pouting. Izuku felt bad for lying to her, but she'd know about it soon enough, right? Right.

"You'll know eventually... " He said, as the two of them made their way to their station. Kyouka gave an annoyed look to the boy, who only laughed. "Y-You'll be surprised when y-you figure it out."

Kyouka gave a confused look to Izuku, what could he mean by that? He was probably talking about Uraraka, wasn't he…? She began to doubt that she even stood a chance against the girl, she had everything Kyouka did not.

A sigh escaped her lips, giving Izuku a hint that she was troubled. He placed his hand against hers as the two sat on their train home, listening to music together as per their routine.

Kyouka, feeling the boy's hand, glanced up to him. He gave her the smile that she adored, and all of her worries went away without her noticing.

He only smiled like that for her, even if it wasn't her that held his heart she'd still have moments like these with him. And that's all she could really hope for.

Kyouka soon rested her head on the boy's shoulder, causing him to flinch. "U-Um… K-Kyo?" He questioned.

Kyouka didn't look at the boy, he initiated this shit anyways! The least he could do was to just let her have this.

"Just shut up, and let me enjoy this." She said, as the boy tried his hardest to relax his shoulder so that the girl wasn't uncomfortable.

Izuku admired Kyouka as the sunset hit her face just right, the same as that night they celebrated together. He found it hard to contain the urge to wrap his arms around her fully.

'You make it so hard not to tell you…'
