Chapter Seventeen: The Sports Festival

Izuku stood outside of the massive stadium in pure awe. Thousands upon thousands of people walked past him as he headed inside to get changed into his gym uniform.

After finding the changing rooms and getting changed he headed for his class's prep room. When he entered he saw his fellow classmates sitting around at the tables, Kyouka was nowhere to be seen quite yet.

The greenette exhaled in relief, before trying to grab his classmates attention. He was student president after all.

"U-Um..! Are you guys ready? The event's going to begin shortly." He informed, being completely ignored by the class. Everyone was too busy having their own small conversations.

'Of course no one listens…' He deadpanned internally. He was going to head over to the table where Iida and Uraraka were already sitting before a voice stopped him.

"Midoriya." A voice called, with a bland tone. Everyone quieted down as they too were in shock. The person calling out to the greenette was none other than Shouto Todoroki, and if memory serves him right he was one of the strongest in the class. Along with Izuku and Bakugou of course.

"Todoroki? What's up?" He questioned, turning to face the dual-haired boy. Bakugou eyed the two of them up, seeming like he knew something was about to go down.

"Objectively speaking, I'm stronger than you. More capable." He stated, the bland look on his face never leaving. If this was another sort of declaration of war Izuku wasn't going to be having it.

"I'd say that's a matter of opinion." This time a female voice spoke up, Kyouka had finally arrived in her gym uniform. She glared at Todoroki, who matched it without fail.

Izuku stood between the two before Todoroki let out a "Tch", and turned back to Izuku. He glared at the boy, staring deep within him.

"All Might's got his eye on you, doesn't he?" He started, causing the greenette to grow increasingly alarmed. "Now I'm not about to pry into why that is, but… I will beat you."

Bakugou glared at the dual-haired boy, he was starting a war with his own classmates. But Bakugou understood his reasoning, everyone is on their own for this.

Izuku simply matched his glare, "You can try. But I assure you, I will take the top spot."

Kyouka smiled at Izuku's profound confidence, he was ready to declare victory before the match even started, and that infuriated both Todoroki, and Bakugou. The greenette had grown a pair, and it was likely thanks to a certain rock girl standing behind him.

Kirishima soon walked over and placed a hand to the boy's shoulder. Bakugou continued to silently watch this unfold.

"Hey man, why pick a fight right now? We're about to go on." Kirishima questioned, trying to stop the two from unnecessarily fighting. Kirishima wasn't one to pick sides but he had a feeling Izuku could beat Todoroki if he tried hard enough.

"I really don't care. I'm not pretending to be anyone's friend here." Todoroki responded, shrugging off Kirishima's hand. He had a goal, and he was dead set on making it a reality.

"Honestly Todoroki, I'm not really sure why you felt the need to tell me that." Izuku started, causing the room to go quiet and listen in once again. "You're a very strong person, there's no doubt. But objectively speaking even if you are stronger…"

The boy then locked his eyes with Todoroki, his gaze was intense and sent shivers down those witnessing them. It was the trademark Izuku Midoriya glare.

"I won't lose to you. I won't lose to any of you." He stated, turning to the rest of the class and intentionally locking eyes with Bakugou. "I made a promise, and I'm going to keep it. I'm giving it all Ive got!"

"...Right." Todoroki responded. The rest of the class stayed silent as they were notified it was time to leave. Bakugou glared at the greenette, and Kyouka for once in her life actually felt fear in Izuku's words. He was dead serious.

She tapped the boy on the back and gave him a small smile, which he returned. He went back to normal. But Kyouka could tell...

This was getting serious.

The students soon were revealed to the crowd, and Izuku and Kyouka began to look back on what All Might had said to the two of them.

"I need you to tell the world, 'I AM HERE!'."

Present Mic had called their class out to the field, and they all had marched out, holding their heads high as the crowd cheered on the next generation of heroes.

Unfortunately for Izuku his heart was beating out of his chest, which went unnoticed by Kyouka as she was holding her ears from the loud crowd around them. They had both wished the crowd wasn't here, but for different reasons.

Midnight, the R-Rated hero soon stepped out onto the stage, whip in hand. She walked over to the microphone, swaying her hips seductively and capturing not just the audience, but a few of the students as well.

Kyouka feared Izuku was just as entranced, but the boy was looking down in fear as if something big was about to happen that would cause him to break down.

"Now for the athletes' oath!" The woman informed, thwapping her whip around aimlessly. The students and crowd began to cheer, causing the woman to grow increasingly annoyed. "Pipe down! Your student representative is…"

The woman pulled out a card reading the name of a certain green haired boy, "Izuku Midoriya, from class 1-A!"

The class froze in fear. They all turned to the boy who was shaking like he was in the freezing cold, but he slowly made his way up to the podium, albeit awkwardly.

"Oh please don't mess this up, Izu…" The girl hoped, taking in a deep breath. Her friend Momo had patted her in the back as she too was in fear of what the awkward green-haired boy would say.

"H-Hello, everyone!" Izuku started, "I'm Izuku Midoriya, a-and uh… All I have to say is this."

The boy stood up straight, and seemingly the shy boy from before had vanished, he took a deep breath and a serious look adorned his face.

"We are all here for one purpose. To entertain you all, but to also prove that we have what it takes to call ourselves students at UA. Everyone here in this field today will be doing their absolute best to make it to the top, and I am no different. I will make it my goal to win, as will everyone else. Please give it up for the students of UA! Let's do our best!"

The crowd went wild, students from 1-A as well as the other classes cheered at the boy's speech. Chants of UA began in the crowd as pro heroes began to take notice of the boy. Somewhere in the stands All Might sat, smiling. He was proud of the boy's speech, he had a good start at the goal of telling the world he was there.

The boy walked off the podium and back to the rest of the class, receiving both praise, and glares from certain students. Midnight commended the boy before turning to the screen behind her.

"Now without any delay let's get the first event started!"

All of the students of UA sat lined up at the starting line. They had been assigned an obstacle course race, and everyone was bracing themselves for it.

Kyouka wasn't feeling very confident in herself at the moment as she couldn't possibly run as fast as some of the others, but maybe, just maybe, she could make it.

Izuku on the other hand, had been sitting with 5% of One For All the entire time, his body felt good. He felt warmed up enough to do this, he had to make first place.

The students watched as the red light at the start changed to yellow. Then finally green.

And then all hell broke loose. Todoroki froze everyone behind him and dashed to first, not caring for his competition. Izuku realized that he was trapped, but due to his increased strength because of OFA he was able to break loose and shoot after the dual-haired boy.

Kyouka grunted in frustration and inserted her jacks into the ice, shattering it and freeing herself. She was not going to let them beat her like this. Bakugou followed suit, flying above the rest of the students and speeding past Kyouka.

The girl scowled, but set her focus on her task at hand. She needed to sprint to catch up.

"I ain't letting you get ahead that easy, half and half!" She heard Bakugou shout as he blasted past her. Momo soon caught up with Jirou and the two began to run side by side. One by one the 1-A students began to get a lead on the other classes, as they had vast knowledge already of what Todoroki could do.

Soon Jirou had caught up with both Izuku and Todoroki, the two of them stood still as the giant zero pointers from the entrance exam showed up.

Izuku dashed his way up to one of them and administered a hard kick to the side of it's head, causing the robot to go crashing to the ground. Todoroki froze one of them on his own, which left many of the students behind them to be left in awe. Was this what 1-A was like?

Bakugou simply blasted past the massive robots, he had the power to destroy them, but why waste his energy? He had bigger fish to fry.

Kyouka stood in fear as one of the robots came rolling towards her, but she quickly devised a plan, just like she had in the entrance exam. The girl dived to the side to avoid getting flattened, and inserted her jack in the metal of the robot.

Soon enough the robot was disengaged, and it went tumbling down onto the rest of the students behind her. She felt bad, but she had a goal in mind. She wanted to either keep up with Izuku or win.

Then the girl spotted an armor plate from one of the robots, and decided to pick it up. Perhaps this would come in handy, as she had learned from Izuku; many things can be useful in the most unlikely circumstances.

The students then arrived at the next area which was ironically named, "The fall" due to it being a massive chasm in the ground with ropes attached to pillars that made it impossible to traverse by foot.

Tsuyu Asui decides to make a move and leaps from pillar to pillar, completely bypassing the other students. Izuku however was not far behind, and leaped after her. He wasn't going to let anyone gain an edge on him.

Kyouka watched as the boy made his way across the pit, and exhaled in frustration. How the hell was she supposed to keep up with that!?

The girl grumbled angrily as she crawled her way across the tightropes. Why the hell did they even make this so dangerous? What if a student fell!?

The girl heard Present Mic on the loudspeaker mention Izuku, Todoroki, and Bakugou had all made it to the next area which only fueled her desire to make it big!

The girl eventually made it offer, only to become witness to Izuku getting blasted back due to a mine. She suppressed a laugh and focused back on the task at hand. How was she going to make it past this…

The girl spotted Bakugou behind her using his explosions to propel himself- Wait! That's it!

The girl used the armor plate from the robot to dig up a bunch of mines into a pile. Bakugou and Todoroki began grappling on the mine field as Izuku shot straight past them, at first he was so sure he could win.

And then they all heard a massive explosion behind them, and a figure shot past all three of them. Kyouka had used the explosions from the mines to propel herself past the two of them, landing in first place she quickly dropped the armor plate and made a dash for the finish line.

Izuku paled, and increased his percentage to 8%. He sprinted to catch up to her, he wasn't going to lose. Todoroki and Bakugou were right behind him, in fear that they too would be the losers of this race.

The crowd watched in anticipation to see who would come out of the tunnel first, Present Mic's voice soon spoke into the microphone.

"The one to make it back to the stadium first is…" He started, as a blur shot out of the tunnel, slamming into dirt of the stadium. Soon the smoke cleared to reveal that Izuku had shot through the tunnel bumping up to 10% of OFA. His muscles were sore, and he groaned in pain at the impact but he had done it. He made it through.

However… What the crowd didn't notice was that the boy was cradling a young purple-haired girl in his arms.

Inside of the tunnel, Izuku watched as Kyouka ran in first. He couldn't lie and say he didn't feel a bit of pride in that fact as they had trained together. He wanted to win, but she had taken it fair and square.

Todoroki's ice however had caught up to them, and Kyouka had slipped. The world began to move slowly as Izuku whipped his head around and glared daggers into the dual-haired boy.

Without any rational thinking Izuku charged up 10% of OFA, and blasted himself off, catching the girl and launching them both outside of the tunnel.

And Izuku held her out, so that she could have first place.

"NONE OTHER THAN KYOUKA JIROU!" Present Mic exclaimed. Izuku smiled, as Kyouka opened her eyes to see the boy. She looked around, and then grew red as she saw the position they were in.

She quickly stood and looked onward as the crowd inside of the stadium cheered for her. She had made first place, granted it was at the cost of her love interest's muscles, but it was a win nonetheless.

"Good job, Kyo…" The boy muttered, as he stood. He groaned in pain but shook it off. It wasn't anything he couldn't handle.

Then Izuku abruptly sneezed, perhaps someone had said his name? It was most likely Inko and Hisashi worrying about their son shooting out of a damn tunnel.

"You!" She shouted, turning to the boy. "I told you I'd be your competition! Eat shit!"

The two of them began to howl in laughter, as the crowd watched in confusion. They then began to look around the stadium, until their eyes landed on All Might.

The two of them grinned and gave a thumbs up, they had succeeded in telling the world, "I AM HERE." And All Might couldn't be prouder.

Bakugou and Todoroki soon entered through the tunnel after them, panting and absolutely peeved. Bakugou had the worst of it as he had suffered another defeat front that green tea motherfu-

"Jirou, that was awesome!" A certain brunette said through breaths. She ran up to the boy, along with their friend Tenya Iida.

"Ah, Uraraka. Iida." The girl said, greeting the two of them. Izuku sat beside her stretching as his muscles needed it.

"First place, though! Man, I'm jealous!" Uraraka stated, getting up in Jirou's personal bubble. The girl simply leaned back in discomfort as she looked to Izuku for help.

"She's right, Kyo. You did great, I'm certainly jealous as well!" He stated, chuckling. Jirou shook her head in disagreement.

"I got lucky man, you were definitely gonna make it if it weren't for what happened." She stated, slugging the boy in the arm which caused him to groan in pain once more. It wasn't that her punches hurt, (Yes they did, but he wasn't going to admit it), but his body was definitely sore.

Midnight soon returned to the stage, grabbing the audience's attention once more as she read out the results. Bakugou was absolutely furious that he was placed in fourth.

According to Midnight the people placed in the top 42 were the qualifiers for the next activity, which left Izuku, Bakugou, Todoroki, Kyouka, and a student from 1-B, Shiozaki, as the top 5.

"Now, onto the second event! I already know what it is of course... " She stated as the screen rolled through the selection, making everyone wait in anticipation. "Dying in suspense!? Next up is…"

"The Cavalry Battle!"

The students began to mumble to themselves about the rules as mass confusion spread like wildfire, but Midnight was able to explain the rules to help ease the students' worries.

"So the student who took 42nd place is worth five points, 41st is worth ten, get it? But the first place participant is worth ten million points!

Kyouka froze as she felt thousands of eyes land on her, and Izuku turned to her in worry.

'Ten million..?' She thought, aimlessly counting on her fingers before the panic set in. She was going to become a big target for everyone. She looked around her as her classmates, and other students of UA were glaring at her.

"I'm so fucked."

And that's chapter 17! It is also the start of the sports festival!

This chapter I had Kyouka win in the obstacle course race with using her own brain! She's begun to act more like Izuku, and it shows.
