Chapter Twenty-Two: The Date

Kyouka Jirou waited in the living room of her home, waiting in anticipation for her newfound boyfriend to show up. The two had agreed to go on a date seeing as they had a day off, and Izuku wanted them to spend a day together as a couple much to Kyouka's delight.

The boy was really sweet when it came to matters like this, and made it a point that he'd be as punctual as he could to meet up with her and head into town to go window shopping. They made a plan to go around town and eventually stop at a certain cafe that he was really excited to show her.

Kyouka looked down at her phone when she realized that she didn't really have any photos of the greenette. Perhaps today while they're out on their date she should try and get a photo of them together, it would be a nice memento of their first date after all.

Mika Jirou watched her daughter pace around the living room, whilst staring at her phone deep in thought. She giggled softly at her daughter being seemingly nervous to go out with that green fluffball, but opted not to disturb her this time. She's been through enough already and deserved a nice break to spend time with her future husband.

"Do you need some money?" Mika asks, snapping Kyouka out of her trance. The girl shakes her head at her mother, she had money saved up and was planning to use it now for this very occasion.

"I'm good on cash, thanks though, Mom." She said, before the doorbell suddenly rang. 11:30AM sharp, just like he said. Kyouka rushed to the door, taking a deep breath before opening it to reveal her green-haired boyfriend standing there clad in a green flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and black denim jeans.

"H-Hey, Kyouka. Ready to go?" Izuku questioned, admiring his girlfriend's outfit. She was adorned in a black crop top sweatshirt, with jean shorts and a forest green choker. She wore a gray beanie atop her head and decided to wear some light makeup to try and wow Izuku, and boy did it work. "Y-Y-You look r-really g-good K-Kyouka!"

The girl giggled at his red face. He was flustered after taking in her appearance and already looked like he would/could faint at any moment. "Thanks! You don't look so bad yourself… Let's get going, yeah?"

To be perfectly honest Kyouka was feeling a bit nervous about what he would think of her choice of clothing, but she eventually relaxed as soon as she saw his awestruck face at her appearance. His awkwardness made it obvious that he loved the way she looked and it left her with a warm pleasant feeling of security.

"Ah, r-right! L-Let's go then, we don't want to miss the train." Izuku said, unconsciously taking hold of the girl's hand. Mika, who was watching from inside the house, smiled at the boy's boldness, and how her daughter's ears became tinted with a light pink. These two were really made for one another.

"Have fun, kids! Don't do anything I wouldn't do!"

"So, how'd your folks take you winning the Sports Festival? Apparently my dad screamed about knowing you while watching the fight between you and Bakugou." Kyouka questioned as the two of them walked hand-in-hand to the train station.

Izuku chuckled while imagining Kyoutoku shooting up from his seat and pointing at the tv while screaming, "I KNOW THAT KID,". Although the boy couldn't really say much for his parents' reactions, when looking back on it all he could picture was his mom fainting at every possible climactic moment, while his father tried to get her to wake back up in a panic.

"The only reaction I could've expected was that my mom had passed out repeatedly. As for my dad, well… I'm not sure. He said he was proud, but it seemed as though when we talked about my quirk that he had no idea about me being diagnosed as quirkless." Izuku stated, causing Kyouka's eyes to go wide. Did Izuku's father really have no knowledge of Izuku's quirkless past?

"That's definitely a surprise… But, that means he might not be as bad as you originally thought! He must really be proud of you for everything that's happened." Kyouka responded, giving the greenettes hand a tight squeeze as a form of consolation. Izuku looked down at his hand intertwined with hers and smiled.

"Maybe you're right. But let's focus on us today, there's so much we can do together while we're out and about!" Izuku states, gesturing to the train station that was now in sight. The two sped walked up the station stairway, and made their way to the terminal to ride the train into the city.

Izuku and Kyouka found their way to their terminal and waited for the train to arrive. Kyouka leaned her head against Izuku's shoulder as they stood waiting, before she heard an odd conversation from behind them.

"Th-That green hair… It's the guy from the Sports Festival, isn't it!? He's so much more handsome in person!" A feminine voice whispered to another, causing Kyouka to become slightly irritated and turn her head enough to see the culprits of such comments about her boyfriend.

They seemed to be highschoolers, one girl with long magenta hair, and sharp teeth and another with gray hair that was in a messy bun, she looked like she hadn't slept in weeks. Kyouka glared at them, but they didn't seem to notice as they approached the two anyways.

"Um… Excuse us, but are you Izuku Midoriya? Winner of the Sports Festival?" The gray haired girl questioned a bit sluggishly. Izuku turned around to notice the two girls behind him and nodded.

"Y-Yeah, that's me. W-Why do you ask?" He questioned nervously, silently noticing Kyouka cling onto his arm at the appearance of the two girls. Kyouka wasn't very happy about this, these girls seemed to think they had a chance to steal Izuku away from her.

However, when Kyouka thought about it, these girls were more… "Gifted" than her in the physical department. Not only that, but they seemed to have way more interesting personalities and could probably easily sway Izuku if they tried hard enough.

"Could we maybe get an autograph?" The girl's questioned, holding out small notebooks for him to sign. Izuku blushed and stammered, but nodded and signed their respective notebooks.

"Ah, y-yes of course! Oh, but…" Izuku said, noticing his train soon arriving, "I-I've got to get going, I'm on a date with my girlfriend here. I can't stay and chat, thanks for supporting me though!"

Kyouka perked up at that, and smiled as she tightened her hold on Izuku's arm. Both of the girls present glared at Kyouka, but she didn't care about them as she had Izuku. It was a bit of a pain now that they were going to be getting recognized, but Izuku was still sticking true to his feelings, and no matter what, he would always choose Kyouka over anything or anyone else.

The two entered their train, and waved the new girls off as they left. Izuku noted that there weren't any open seats and opted to hold onto the rail while wrapping an arm around Kyouka. The girl blushed, but wrapped her arms around Izuku just so that she could get her fill of whatever cologne Izuku wore. It smelled sweet like maple syrup and she was honestly hooked on it.

"Have I ever told you that I love your cologne?" Kyouka questioned, practically shoving her face into the boy's chest. Izuku blushed as onlookers stared at them, but couldn't really stop her from enjoying the position they were in as the train was cramped. Though he couldn't say he didn't like any of what she was doing, in fact, he found it quite adorable.

"U-Um, no actually… I'm glad i-it's appealing to you." Izuku said, smiling down at her as she moved her head up to stare at the greenette. She smiled in response and hugged the boy a bit tighter as they continued to ride the train having a hushed conversation about his choice of cologne.

Eventually the couple had found themselves at their destination. It was a short train ride into the denser city portion of the Shizuoka prefecture. Izuku had actually walked the distance into the city on multiple occasions, but him and Kyouka decided to take it easy on their day off and not make it some kind of strange workout regimen like Izuku was known for.

"So what's on the agenda first, cabbage-patch?" Kyouka questioned as the two of them exited the station. Izuku pointed down the street and smiled down at her.

"There's a record shop down that way. I-It's actually where I bought that deep dope record for you…" Izuku replied, causing Kyouka to look back at that memory. She smiled at the thoughtful present that Izuku had gotten for her when they were barely even friends. He wanted to do something nice for someone else, just purely out of the kindness of his heart. That was just the kind of person he was and she wouldn't have him any other way.

Kyouka, although it's a bit out of character for her to show any kind of affection in public aside from hand holding or anything close to it, stood on her toes and placed a quick kiss on the boy's cheek. She felt as though her admiration for the boy had overflowed a little in that moment and it left the shy couple with bright red faces.

"U-Um… L-Let's go check it out then. I wonder if they've got any other good artists or bands." Kyouka said, trying to change the subject from her little outburst of affection. Izuku nodded, but couldn't get rid of the soft sensation of his girlfriend's lips off of his cheek, though it's not like he wanted to. It was pleasant, and the more he thought about it the more he realized...

He was really dating Kyouka Jirou now.

It was an obvious fact that the two were dating, but it just rang inside of Izuku's mind that he was really dating this purple haired rocker who had shown him actual friendship for the first time in years, and honestly? It felt good.

It was such a pleasant experience, and it was beginning to have more of a positive effect on his life. He was making great progress with One For All, and he was happier than he had ever been in his life. And that was all thanks to Kyouka Jirou. That realization alone gave Izuku the determination to make their first date the most special date that he could!

He would make this a date she couldn't forget!

The couple had found their way inside of the record store, the cashier instantly recognized Izuku's poofy green hair and pointed a finger towards him as he entered with Kyouka holding his hand.

"Hey! You're that green haired kid from a few months ago! This the girl you bought the record for? I see you really impressed her." The man questioned, causing Izuku's face to turn a bright red.

When Izuku had originally come to the record store to buy her the gift he had encountered the man, who had tried to give Izuku advice on how to woo a girl. Of course, Izuku had rejected the man's advice bashfully and repeatedly told him that they weren't going to be like that. But as you can tell, fate decided to pull an entire 180 on that statement and now the two were actually together.

"I-It really wasn't like that Hashibara-san…" Izuku stated, before turning to Kyouka with a smile. "But I suppose now it is. She seemed t-to like the gift."

"You really didn't have to get me that record, it was way too nice of you." Kyouka said, looking around the shop's vast collection of vinyl and record players. The store was much like a nice dimly lit shop with muffled music playing all around on separate speakers.

"Yes he did, he kept going on how he wanted the perfect gift for a nice girl who had helped him out." Hashibara stated, snickering at Izuku's embarrassment. The man really was just having it out for him now that he had returned and unfortunately that meant that Kyouka was going to find out all about that day, wasn't she?

"That's… Greenbean, why are you so sweet? I'm gonna be sick." Kyouka stated, teasingly. Izuku, obviously, begins to go into a muttering fit while trying to apologize profusely. Hashibara and Kyouka laugh at the boy, before he finally realizes that they were just teasing him even more. He really wasn't sure what he needed to panic about though, he was just paying back someone who did a good deed and helped him out.

"You guys are something else… Let's check some records out and maybe head to that arcade across the street?" Izuku suggested. He was just honestly really happy being able to hangout with her like this, but the teasing was probably going to be the death of him.

"Oh yeah! I saw some rock albums over here, you've got to check some of these out, they've got some really good bands!" Kyouka said, pulling Izuku with her to the record players so that they can listen to the songs.

Hashibara watched the two of them with a small smile on his face. He felt that it was nice to see music bringing two people together like this and he hoped that they would last. Izuku seemed to really like her, that smile on his face as they chatted and laughed with the records playing.

"Oooo, let's get this Linkin Park vinyl! We can listen to it back at your place- Wait you have a record player, right, cabbagepatch?" Kyouka questioned looking up at him with the vinyl in hand. Izuku nodded while looking back on a few of his father's belongings that he had left with him and his mother, one of which being a record player.

"Alright, let's go and pay." Kyouka said, before Izuku snatches the record out of her hand and heads over to the register. "Wh- Oi! Izuku let me pay for it!"

But it was too late, Izuku had already been rung up and didn't even realize she had tried to pay for it herself. She noted that she needed to be quicker than him if she was to pay for something for herself.

"I'm sorry, were you saying something?" Izuku responded, turning around with the bagged vinyl in his hands. Kyouka pouted and whipped the boy with her jacks causing him to flinch and attempt to shield himself. "Agh! Why!?"

"Quit being a gentleman. Let me buy stuff for myself!" The purplette demanded, glaring daggers at Izuku. The boy looked at her confused as to why she was so upset, the record was for the two of them to listen to and it wasn't as if he really minded spending money on her. He saved up for a reason.

"But it's something for the both of us, I just thought… How about you get us tokens for the arcade then? It's fair that way, right?" The greenette suggests as the couple exits the music shop. Kyouka sighs, there really was no beating him in this stuff is there?

"Fine, but I'm kicking your ass in these games."

There was only one question on Kyouka's mind as she stood bewildered at what she was seeing. Izuku had continued to win repeatedly at each and every game they played, and here she stood at the final competitive game staring at the screen with mild annoyance. What was the greenette made out of!?

"How..!?" The girl exclaimed, causing Izuku to laugh nervously. He failed to warn her that he spent a lot of his time at home playing video games as a kid and was just naturally good at these kinds of things. "You like some kind of god? You can't just be that good at every single one of these games."

"W-Well, l-like you say, I'm a nerd. But hey, we've got a lot of tickets! L-Let's get some prizes." Izuku suggested, trying to avoid his girlfriend's annoyed glare. She huffs in annoyance and begins walking over to the prize counter.

Jirou had decided to get a small green plush rabbit as it reminded her of Izuku, but said boy couldn't quite figure out what he wanted. Nothing really seemed to catch his eye and he could tell that the person over the counter was getting impatient.

"Um…" Izuku said, staring down at a few of the smaller items when a small keychain caught his eye. It was a small purple bass, very similar to the one that Kyouka owned herself. "That keychain please. A-And give the rest of my tickets to the kid behind me."

The woman behind the counter nodded and handed him the small keychain. Izuku's purchase was quite confusing to Kyouka, however she did notice that the keychain resembled her own bass back at home. Izuku had wanted something to signify his girlfriend, but he thought about another use for the keychain. One that he'd use for years to come.

"Thank you mister!" The child waiting in line behind Izuku said, gratefully, causing the greenette to smile and wave to him as he captured Kyouka's hand in his again and pocketed his keychain. The two walked out of the arcade and Kyouka stared at Izuku as they walked down the street in confusion.

"Why'd you only get the keychain?" Kyouka questioned. Izuku turned to her with a smile on his face and blushed softly. Kyouka became even more confused at the reaction to her question, it seemed like such a small object to own but perhaps it meant more than that.

"W-Well, I was thinking of putting it on my hero costume. It might help keep me determined in battle by thinking of you." He responded, giving the girl's hand a tight squeeze. Kyouka's face erupted with a red hue and she once again found herself overloading with affection for the boy. How was he able to do that? He just excelled at causing the girl to feel butterflies in her stomach and making her feel so… So special.

She suddenly halted, and yanked Izuku back along with her. The boy was confused but was quickly flustered beyond belief as the girl placed a chaste kiss against his lips. Her own face was bright red, and she was screaming at herself for doing this out in public but in all honesty… She didn't care. She needed to get rid of all of that pent-up affection for her green-haired boyfriend, aka cabbage-patch.

"Th-That's for being you. N-Now let's go to that cafe, I'm hungry!"

The couple entered the cafe and were promptly seated. The cafe was small but quaint, there was quite a nice aura about it. There was also a bit of indie rock playing in the store, much to Kyouka's appreciation, and it wasn't too loud as there weren't that many people in the store. It was honestly… Perfect.

"Izuku you picked this place specifically for a reason, didn't you?" Kyouka questioned as she sat down in their booth. She was right, Izuku had chosen this place specifically so that Jirou wouldn't be overcome with sensory overload, not only that but the music choice was nice and it had some of her favorite foods. Such as shrimp tempura.

"Y-Yeah actually. I thought it'd be a good spot for you seeing as it's quiet and everything… Oh! And they have shrimp tempura, I know you really like that so I thought it'd be a good place for you." Izuku replied, looking over the menu himself for anything that he might like. Kyouka shook her head and smiled, realizing that she really lucked out when it came to a boyfriend.

"Hello! Has the lovely couple decided on what they want to order?" A waitress questioned, making her way over to their table. She pulled out a small notepad to write down their order and clicked out her pen.

Izuku and Kyouka both blushed at actually being seen as a couple as they were dating for the first time. It was honestly quite new, but it wasn't like they weren't seen as a couple before they were even dating.

"I'll have the shrimp tempura, thanks. Oh, and a chocolate milkshake." Kyouka said. She looked over to see Izuku still looking at his menu before he resigned himself to just buy what he knows and loves.

"I'll have the Katsudon, and a glass of water please." He'd order, surprising Kyouka that he didn't stutter while placing his order. The waitress took their menus before heading off to place the couples order.

Izuku turned back to his girlfriend only to see her staring straight at him with an intense gaze. Izuku grew nervous at his girlfriend's gaze, and gulped in anxiousness. "Wh-What's wrong?"

"You're really gonna put that keychain on your hero costume..?" Kyouka questioned shyly. Izuku nodded without any hesitation and pulled the keychain out. "Where are you gonna put it?"

"I was thinking of putting it onto my utility belt. That way it's both safe, and it'll be kinda stylish, right?" He questioned innocently. Kyouka nodded with a blush on her face and laid her hand over the table. Izuku put his hand on top of hers and smiled softly. "I realized that I was fighting really hard because I had you on my mind, and if that makes me excel in a fight then I'm going to use that to help me do my best as a hero!"

Kyouka's face reddened in embarrassment. Was she really the cause of him doing so well during the Sports Festival? Well, he had admitted it before when he asked her out, but she couldn't help but still be a little skeptical about it. However, now it seems that what he said was the truth.

"Well, I'll do my best too! Don't think you're too far ahead of me!" She exclaimed with a competitive smirk on her face. Kyouka wasn't just going to let this guy be her shining knight or something, she'd kick ass on her own and prove to the world that she has what it takes to be a great hero too!

"I wouldn't dare. We'll be heroes together!"

"Hisashi! Izuku said that he was going to bring his girlfriend over, so please behave!" Inko called out to her husband as she received a call from her son not too long ago. The man came out of his and Inko's shared room and entered the living room to see Inko sitting on the couch.

"Yeah, I gotcha. But seriously, Izuku has a girlfriend… Kind of crazy to believe especially after all that he's been through. You should've told me sooner about all of that, Inko." Hisashi stated, walking into the kitchen to grab himself a glass of water. The short woman sighed and looked down somberly.

"I know, but the situation was painful and I didn't want to get in the way between you and your work…" Inko replied, tears starting to brim in her eyes. "I'm a terrible mother, aren't I..?"

Hisashi shook his head, "No, you did what you thought was right. Let's just be happy that everything's been cleared up and we can move forward as a family… Though I do leave tomorrow."

Hisashi was always such a sweet man, and him consoling her like this just reiterated the reason why she fell in love with the man. He was thoughtful and kind, a trait that Izuku had picked up from him, and one that she loved quite a bit about her husband. It was sad to know that he'd be leaving, but he had promised to make more time to see his family and maybe even possibly move back in for good.

Suddenly the two adults heard the door open, followed by two pairs of footsteps. "Mom, dad! I'm home, and I brought Kyouka."

Hisashi was the first to head over and greet his son, he stood in the entryway, smiling and waving at the two teens. Kyouka analyzed the man and noticed how similar the two men looked, he was like a taller and dare she say rougher version of Izuku. Hell, if Izuku was going to look anything like that as an adult then she might just pass out. However, she couldn't put her finger on it but he looked oddly familiar...

Hisashi, upon his own analysis of his son's girlfriend, noted her short hair and petite frame. She was quite the small girl, but she looked tough nonetheless. Izuku stood over her a bit protectively and Hisashi smiled at his son's act of "manliness". (Kirishima would be proud).

"Hello! You must be Jirou, it's nice to meet you! My son here talks about you quite a bit, he seems very appreciative of you." Hisashi stated as Inko peaked around the corner to see her son, her husband, and her son's girlfriend all standing in the entryway.

"A-Ah, um… It's a pleasure to m-meet you, sir. Your son is very kind." The girl said, bowing out of respect. The man chuckled softly and rubbed the back of his neck.

"No need to be so formal, I know you'll treat my son well." Hisashi stated, turning around and heading back to the living room. Inko waved to Jirou and Izuku before she too made her way back to the living room. Izuku nodded and took Kyouka's hand as they made their way to his room.

"Your dad looks a lot like you. He seems friendly." Kyouka comments as she sits down on his bed. Izuku nods in agreement, while he disliked his father it wasn't like he was a completely terrible guy.

"Yeah, my mom says that I'll end up looking just like him when I'm his age." Izuku says, pulling out the aforementioned record player from his closet. But as he stands to reach for the vinyl record Kyouka hugs him from behind.

"We're going to get internship requests tomorrow… I might not be able to see you for a while when we're doing them." Kyouka says, trying to signal to Izuku that she wants some much needed cuddles for the time being. Izuku chuckles and swivels himself around in her arms so that he can embrace her as well.

"Lemme guess… You want to savor the moment?" Izuku questions, slowly leading the two of them to his bed. Kyouka hums in response before the two of them are laid upon his bed in a tight embrace, their legs finding themselves tangled together.

"I wonder how our interviews will go… I'm honestly afraid of which heroes might want me interning for them." Izuku mumbles, placing a kiss against Kyouka's forehead. She nods in agreement, snuggling closer to Izuku.

"Here's hoping people see our potential…" Kyouka responds, waving her jack up in the air. Izuku chuckles at her cute action before placing a small kiss to her jack, causing Kyouka to jolt slightly. "I-Izu…"

Izuku and Kyouka lock eyes and the two of their faces grow a bright red. Izuku glances down at Kyouka's lips very quickly, though it doesn't go unnoticed by his girlfriend. Soon the two inch closer and closer until their lips have practically molded together. The kiss starts out gentle and slow before their kiss starts to resemble that same one that they shared during the Sports Festival.

The hunger and feverishness of it became more apparent between the two of them, and while they wouldn't go much farther beyond kissing like this, the two of them knew that they had secretly wanted a moment like this to happen again. However, the ever looming presence of their internships to be still were fresh in their mind.

But for now they could overlook it.

And that's chapter 22! I've got a long fluff chapter here for you guys!
