-Forever waiting-
-One-shot-

Winry: 29

10 years. That's how long they've been gone.

All these years and she was still waiting for their return. day after day, night after night, she would sit on the porch and watch for those two figures to come walking up the path to return to her.

Loneliness. That was what brought her to continue waiting for the brothers. Soon after they had left her, her Granny had died, followed by Den. She tried helplessly to get her life back on track after their death, but being lonely was too much for her. Since she was an only child, she was destined to be lonely.

She would gaze at picture, hoping to find some source of companionship in them. She would talk to herself, in hopes that her sub conscious would give her a friend.

She wouldn't work, she barely slept, and only ate on occasion. All she wanted was them. Specifically Edward and Alphonse Elric. She wouldn't settle for anyone else but them now. Even if only one came home, she'd be fine. But only if that one was Edward.

Over the years, she had grown the favor the bot over his younger brother. He was her motivation. He was why she waited. He was her reason to live. And with him gone, she was nothing.

After everyone else had given up and stopped searching for the Elrics', she kept waiting. She had a gut feeling that they would never return, but she began to think that if she waited, the would come home and if she stopped, they would cease to exist. Waiting was all she wanted to do, even if it was rotting her life away.

Now, at age 29, she still stood there, on the porch looking out to the horizon. She had a terrible migraine and she knew that she had an ulcer by now. But if she stopped to eat, she couldn't watch for them, and if she wasn't out there for them to see, how would they know she was still there?

Soon, her migraine grew worse and worse and the pains in her stomach grew greater. Her eyelids grew heavy and she hit the ground with a thud, blackness devouring every fiber of her being.

"Winry..."

She stirred in her sleep.

"Winry, it's time to get up..."

That voice sounded familiar.

"Winry, wake up."

Her eyes shot open. Was that Edward?

As her eyes adjusted, she looked around. What she saw was amazing. It seemed like a miracle.

The area was bright and welcoming, and she felt no pain. She was on the ground, but it was warm and comforting. And next to her, kneeling down with a smile plastered on his face, was Edward.

He smiled at her bewilderment. "Good morning, Winry. It's nice to see you."

Immediatly, she sprang up and gave him a hug. And at that moment, she didn't care about anything. Dead or alive, it didn't mater so long as Edward was there.

End

Okay, that wasn't one of my best fanfic but, oh well. Yes it was short but that was because it was a one-shot. I know, I should be working on 'Mondschein-Sünde' but I don't feel like it.

Anyway, I wrote this in my therapists office, while waiting for my appointment. It was boring, so I wrote a fanfic. Now, I'd like a review from you. If you read it, then you are reviewing it, okay?
