Hallo! I'm back after a long time with my second Avatar fanfic. My first was a one-shot, you can find it on my profile. I lost interest in my other two fanfiction series, the X-Strike Chronicles and Next Avengers. You can also find them on my profile. Ok I'm gonna stop promoting.

This fanfic takes place after Book 3 of Avatar the Last Airbender. If this story gets a couple views, favs and follows, I'll do a third one. Please comment and tell me what you think. A comment as short as: "I like your story" will really encourage me even if it's not much.

Toph: Can you stop talking?

Sokka: Yeah no one wants to hear you speak.

Me: ...

Me: Ok time to start the story

Avatar the Last Airbender: The Dah Li Thieves

Chapter One: Kiyoshi Island

"It was a great idea to visit Kiyoshi Island, Aang."

It had been two months since the end of the One Hundred Year War. Slowly, the Earth Kingdom was getting back on its feet again. Aang, Katara, Sokka, Suki and Toph were traveling through the country helping Earth Kingdom villages recover from the one-hundred year oppression from the Fire Nation. Zuko, now known as Fire Lord Zuko, had to stay in the Fire Nation palace to take hold of some important duties. Aang and his friends travelled on Appa through the Earth Kingdom before they flew over the water towards Kiyoshi Island.

"I'll have to get back home with the other Kiyoshi warriors." Suki said. "It's been a while."

"No! You're leaving again?" Sokka complained.

"Speaking of home, we haven't been back at the Southern Water Tribe in a long time." Katara said.

"We can go there after our visit, sweetie." Aang said.

Toph squirmed. "I knew you two would end up together eventually, but it sounds-"

"Very uncomfortable." Sokka interrupted.

"Hey, Aang and I don't complain about you and Suki." Katara retorted.

"Guys look, there's someone in a boat down there." Aang said. The thirteen year old airbender peered at the water to see a teenage boy in dark clothes in a canoe leaving Kiyoshi Island.

"That's weird." Katara said. "It's such a hot day for black clothes."

"I wonder why he's leaving there." Sokka wondered.

"Maybe he's a merchant. Plenty of merchants come and go from the island." Suki replied. Aang looked down at the boy again. There was nothing in the boy's boat except for two brown bags. He didn't look like an average merchant. Aang shrugged and took a sharp turn towards Kiyoshi Island.

"Suki! You're back!" Ty Lee, the newest Kiyoshi warrior and a former enemy of Team Avatar ran towards Suki and gave her a bear hug.

"Uh, I'm still not used to seeing her in a Kiyoshi warrior uniform." Sokka groaned.

"Hi, Sokka, nice to see you again," Ty Lee answered. "Hi Aang and the Gaang."

"Gaang?" Katara questioned.

"Gaang." Toph repeated.

"Hey, that's not original." Sokka complained. "I made that up."

"Suki! You're back!" Two other Kiyoshi warriors approached Suki.

"Ikki! Cyhou!" Suki exclaimed as she reunited with her fellow Kiyoshi warriors.

The two Kiyoshi warriors bowed. "Welcome Back, Avatar Aang."

"Hello, it's great to be back." Aang answered. Cyhou turned to face Suki.

"While you were gone, an Earthbender keeps coming to Kiyoshi Island and robs numerous items from the villagers. We tried to stop him but he's very agile."

"He comes once a week every night. He's unstoppable." Ikki added.

"Who is he?" Suki asked.

"We don't know." Cyhou answered.

"We need help getting to the closest Earth Kingdom Villages to see if they know anything about this. Perhaps the thief himself lives in one of the villages."

"We could help you get there with Appa." Aang offered.

"But we just got here." Sokka groaned.

"That would be wonderful." Ty Lee answered.

"We saw a boy in dark clothes leaving the island on our way here." Katara said.

"That's just how the thief looks like." Ikki said. "He wears a hood and a mask covering his nose and mouth. His cloak got ripped when he fought us." Ikki reached for her belt and pulled out a black piece of cloth.

"We're suspecting that he's gonna rob the Kiyoshi Temple soon. There's lots of valuable artifacts there."
"We can't let this thief get to them. We have to stop him." Aang replied. "It's still early in the morning. We can go there now."

"Wouldn't you like something to eat first?" Chyou asked.

"Yes we would!" Sokka exclaimed.

After discussing the situation more during breakfast, it was decided that Aang and Katara would bring Chyou, Ty Lee, and Ikki to the neighboring Earth Kingdom villages while Sokka, Suki, and Toph would stay on Kiyoshi Island.

After half of Team Avatar left on Appa, a crowd of little girls ran towards Sokka, Suki, and Toph.

"Aww. Aangie left already." One girl said.

"He's coming back." Suki answered.

"He said he would visit us again sometime."

"He promised!"

"Are these Aang's fangirls?" Toph asked.

"Good one, Toph." Sokka chuckled. "Fan Girls? Get it? The Kiyoshi warriors use fans? And they're girls?"

A couple seconds of deathly silence occurred after Sokka spoke.

"Man, tough crowd, Sokka." Toph finally said.

"Sokka, they aren't Kiyoshi warriors." Suki pointed out.

Aang, Katara, Ty Lee, Chyou, and Ikki landed in an Earth Kingdom village.

"Hey sweetie, remember this place?" Katara said.

"Yeah I do, sweetie. This was the village that used to hate Avatar Kiyoshi, Roku, and I." Aang said.

"They hated Kiyoshi?" Ikki wondered.

"It's because Kiyoshi killed Chin the Conqueror." Katara said.

"Oh we know that story." Chyou said.

"I don't." Ty Lee said. "What happened?"

"It's a long story." Aang said.

"It's the Avatar!" a man said.

"Hello Mayor Tong." Aang said.

"We must thank you again for saving us from those Fire Nation soldiers." Mayor Tong said. "It's market day. What brings you here?"

"We're searching for a thief that comes to Kiyoshi Island. We believe that he's going to steal from Kiyoshi Temple." Chyou explained.

"I think he's already stolen from the temple already." Katara exclaimed. "Look!" At a stand in the market, a man was selling various artifacts. One of the artifacts Aang recognized. Avatar Kiyoshi's boots! The man was trying to sell them to another man with large feet.

"These boots might fit me perfectly." The large footed man said.

"Hey! Those are mine!" Aang shouted.

"What?" the man who was selling the boots exclaimed. These aren't yours. These shoes wouldn't fit you.

"Those boots belong to one of his past lives, Avatar Kiyoshi!" Chyou cried. She, Ty Lee and Ikki ran at the man and kicked his stand which smashed into two. The man fell to the ground and was cornered by the two Kiyoshi warriors.

"You've been stealing from Kiyoshi Island." Ikki said. "You're coming with us!"

"I didn't steal them, I swear!" The man pleaded. "A boy traded them to me for food. I didn't know where they came from!" The Kiyoshi warriors stopped attacking him.

"Do I still get to buy the shoes?" The big-footed man asked.

"No." Aang said as he picked up the large boots.

"Did you get anything else from the boy?" Chyou demanded.

"No, he didn't." The man pleaded.

"What does he look like?" Ikki demanded.

"Like any other young boy, it's hard for me to remember…" The man glanced to the crowd. "There he is! I got the shoes from that boy!" Aang and Katara spun around to see a little boy with a dark cloak. The boy disappeared into the crowd.

"Don't let him escape!" Katara said. Aang grabbed Katara and lept over the crowd to see the boy sprinting away.
