"Bluekit!" Bluekit shook her head "You ruined my dream, Redkit!" She meowed crossly. "Never mind that! It's our apprentice ceremony!" Redkit cried in glee. "You get to be made apprentices" a white kit mewed "Not me!" "Nonsense, Whitekit " Bluekit cried "Your almost as old as me! I'll be the first one to call you by your apprentice name…Can you do the same for me?" Whitekit shook his head guiltily "oh, ok..." he mewed. "Come now, " growled Mosspelt "Your sister was made a medicine cat apprentice a few suns ago…it's your turn, so don't be late!" Mosspelt paused "You too, Redkit" she called to the motherless kit, giving his ears a quick wash.
We are here to give two Thunderclan kits their apprentice names" Began noble Smokestar "Until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice will be called Bluepaw. Sootwhisker, you will be mentor to Bluepaw .You are a brave and wise cat. Pass on all you know to this young apprentice." Bluepaw touched noses with her mentor, and a rush of pride consumed her. She remembered her strange dream, in which a glittering cat, and Redkit's own mother had spoken to her. 'Will I really be great?' she wondered. She heard Redpaw receive his name and mentor, Smallear. When the yowls of congratulation ended, Smokestar went on "Now we give an apprentice his warrior name…" a large black and white apprentice sat down in front of Smokestar." Patchpaw, do you promise to follow the warrior code, and protect Thunderclan, even at the cost of your life?" "I do" meowed Patchpaw solemnly. "Then I name you Patchpelt, and we welcome you as full member of Thunderclan." Smokestar then leapt of the great rock, and went back to his den. "Hello, Bluepaw" a pale tabby she-cat purred "I'm Specklepaw. You may find a place over there to sleep. I imagine your tired, and you'd bed get all the sleep you can, Training starts tomorrow!" Bluepaw slunk over to Redpaw, who was prodding moss with his paw "g'night" she yawned and licked his ear "you, too" he purred and they settled down to sleep.
