AN: Sorry for the lack of updates. Writer's block is a bitch.
Sookie stared at the small body of water with a focus that would have anyone thinking it was more than what it appeared to be. Thanks to Godric's blood she could make out the smallest of detail that had escaped her before. The last several months had been one of utter and complete bliss. Sookie had traveled extensively with her bonded, she had visited more vampire courts than one would think possible, especially for a part Fairy being. Of course, the fact that she was a pat Fairy being meant she was treated with respect, not because she was Godric's bonded, but because she held power in her own right.
For one moment, it looked as though their trip would not be possible with the weres in Memphis proving to be uncontrollable with the sudden lack of V due to Russell's demise. It had taken Jason, Thalia, herself, and Godric and a small vampire force from the queen's guard to put the weres in their place, some had naturally sustained a significant amount of injury before the line was toed. Then there had been the Hadley situation; she had wanted to see Sookie, something she was not prepared to do just yet. She understood Hadley running away. She understood Hadley telling the queen about Sookie's gift. Leaving gran to think she was dead was something Sookie was struggling to forgive. Sophie-Anne herself had called on behalf of Hadley, Sookie had used it as an opportunity to ask Hadley to come and see gran. Her cousin had done just that, and that had gone some way to taming Sookie's anger toward her cousin.
"What are you thinking about?" Godric joined her at what had become their favorite spot on the Stackhouse residence.
"The last seven months." She whispered, turning to look at the vampire.
"When this is over, we can finish our plans." Their break had been interrupted by Jason's call. Niall had turned up out of the blue. With Niall, unfortunately, came Warlow. Warlow had killed her parents, Sookie was not blind to her parent's lack of any real affection for her, in truth, they feared her. Her mother more than her father, but they saw her as something of a freak of nature. Jason, they loved with an unhealthy affection, but now she understood why. Hell, her mother had an attachment to their father that was not right either, again she now understood why. The allure of the male Fairy was not something a mere human female could resist.
None of that mattered, Warlow would have to die if she stood any chance of getting back to the life she had before he appeared in this dimension again.
"I'm still not sure it was the right thing to bring him into this dimension," Sookie murmured her head falling in Godric's shoulder.
"Would you rather be looking over your shoulder for the rest of eternity waiting for him to strike?" Niall had come to them believing it was the best time to be rid of Warlow once and for all. The prison holding him was weakening, and they needed to deal with him while they could. A ritual had been performed, giving Warlow a beacon to follow into their world. The downside was none had any idea what he looked like or what being a hybrid meant. He could walk in the sun, that they knew, he still had his Fairy powers, he also had a thirst for blood like any vampire. She hoped Niall was right in saying they were at their strongest to take him on. He would be coming for Sookie, that much they were sure of, when and how was an entirely different matter.
"Ready to go," Godric asked softly.
"Yes, working will take my mind off things for a while, at least. Sookie took his hand and teleported onto Fangtasia's roof. Before they could descend, Godric heard a conversation that stopped him.
"Nora?" Eric stood from his makeshift throne and walked toward her. She looked disheveled and clearly running from someone. He prayed it wasn't the Authority. Godric was not going to like this.
"I need to talk to Godric." That much was evident to Eric.
"Come with me." He walked her to his office and dialed Godric without another word to her. There was no point.
"Godric, Nora is here, and she would like to speak to you."
"Put her on the phone." He said with a sigh.
"Master..."
"You took that so-called blood of Lilith." Eric shut his eyes and let out a groan.
"He doesn't believe⦠Salome met the true death at his hand."
"I do not care if he believes or not. He is the head of the Authority. You are merely a Chancellor and have no right to decide what the head of the Authority should or shouldn't believe to hold that post. Take the blood of Lilith back or if you believe in her and that vial so much drink it and take over as ruler of the vampire world." The line went dead before she could utter another word.
"Nora, take the blood back." Eric didn't believe in this nonsense any more than Godric did.
"You don't believe either." She whispered.
"Someone created the first of us, whether it was Lilith or not is beside the point. Fighting for someone who died five thousand years ago is rather pointless. If you believe in her and that book people who weren't there claim she wrote that is fine, but don't force it on others. The AVL is not an altar for Lilith, it is a position that makes sure we don't start a war or worse end ourselves. If this means so much to you, then drink that blood and become the embodiment of Lilith, and those that believe will follow." Eric shrugged and went back to his throne. He had no time for Nora and her silliness.
"Who was that?" Sookie asked as Godric ended the call. They finally dropped down from the roof and made their way to the back entrance.
"That would be Nora. I do hope she drinks that blood and finally wakes up." Of course, Nora had no idea Roman had emptied the vial and replaced it with human blood, the anticoagulant alone would leave quite the taste in her mouth. Roman might not be a believer, but he wasn't about to take any risk, especially after Salome's confession.
They entered Fangtasia just as Nora was exiting the office. Despite their conversation, she still offered the blood to Godric. "Master." Her hand held out; her head bowed.
"I have no interest in that," Godric growled, walking past her into Eric's office.
"Sookie, welcome back." Pam greeted as she exited the staff room.
"Thank you, Pam, in some aspects, it's good to be back." At that moment, Sookie was hit with an idea. "Pam, when you smell my blood, what do you smell?"
"Dependsā¦"
"Wherever this conversation is going, I think it would be best had in the office," Godric advised.
"Yes, right." They moved into the office.
"As I was saying, it depends on whether your scent is masked or not."
"Masked." Nora cut in.
"If you want to stay while this conversation is taking place, you will do so quietly," Godric warned.
"Godric, what about you?" Sookie asked.
"The first time I laid eyes on you, I could smell the fact that you weren't entirely human. I just couldn't smell enough to determine exactly which branch of the supernatural world you belonged to." It was evident in his answer he did not want Nora to know precisely what being Sookie was. "And my blood, of course." Sookie smiled in a way only Godric had ever been witnessed to.
"Meaning you can smell a being with vampire blood." Godric chuckled delightfully. "We are not so blind after all." His smile remained.
"Well, I have to go say hello to the masses." Godric could see the change in her. She looked lighter, and the light in her eyes that had dimmed a little shone a little more brightly.
Despite the soundproof room, the cheers as Sookie showed her face could be heard in the office. Godric smiled at the noise. "Anything I can help with." Eric offered having gotten the gist of the conversation.
"He has all our strengths and none of our weaknesses, his name is Warlow." Nora gasped loudly. As a follower of Lilith, she was well aware of who Warlow was. Godric's glare had her keeping her mouth shut. "He is here for Sookie, due to a contract an ancestor of hers signed."
"Your bond nullifies any contract, especially one not signed by Sookie. Last I checked, human laws alone make that contract questionable."
"And Niall has decreed it null and void, but we all know none of that will matter to Warlow. Death is the only solution to this predicament."
"You cannot kill the one man with Lilith's blood." Nora piped up, no amount of threats from her maker would shut her up.
Godric looked up at her and smiled. "It is moments like this; I feel vindicated for never having completely released you." Nora's eyes widened. "I know you would do everything in your power to keep this creature alive even when his sole aim is to take my bonded. Tell me, I am wrong." She could not. She would not stand idly by and let the first vampire created by Lilith meet the true death. "As your maker, I command you to never speak of what you heard here tonight. You will leave Louisiana, take that vial back to Roman and take whatever punishment comes your way. You are not to step foot in Louisiana until I command otherwise. Be gone." She foolishly attempted to fight the command despite the pain. "I love you, but this foolish obsession with a dead vampire is not going to take my bonded from me. The fact that you are willing to even entertain this shows just how little you care for me." Nora was never one for pain, soon fighting the command became unbearable, and she gave in. Or, Godric's words had hit home, but none knew which.
Godric watched with a look none could decipher as Nora blurred from the office. For the first time in days, he finally felt they had an advantage where Warlow was concerned. He had finally found a reason for his continued existence, and his own childe was willing to take that from him, due to an unhealthy obsession that would only get her killed. "I need you two to brush up on your training, and find weapons made of pure iron. He might not have our weaknesses, but he does still possess the weaknesses of his kind." Goric was determined to take advantage of those.
Nora had no intention of drinking Lilith's blood, she never felt worthy of it, but now she believed all the signs lead to her being the chosen one. She had defied the Authority, and taken Lilith's blood at the right time. She had come to Shreveport at the right time. She had been in the right place when Godric talked about ending Lilith's first childe. She could not allow Godric to kill Warlow; if Warlow had been promised her maker's bonded then as sorry as she was, she would still work to aid Warlow in getting her. Lilith's blood should easily override Godric's command. "I am sorry, but this is bigger than you and me." She uncorked the vial and downed it on one only to find herself retching. There were no two ways about it, Nora had just drunk human blood, horrible human blood at that. She stared at the empty vial with a confused look before angrily smashing it against the concrete. The blood might be real, but the existence of Warlow definitely was and would have to find another way to aid him.
