Part 5 - Blood of the King
Chapter 104 - 3812
Gwen closed her eyes, wondering what she would read when she moved on to the next chapter. However, she decided there were other matters at hand that she could do something about; for example, the entity with the destructive power to wipe out the entire planet with just a thought. She wondered whether she was being stupid and couldn't connect the dots, so she went back and thought about everything she knew: SCP-3812 jumped between narratives. Initially it would take a human form, then it would slowly decay into the star thing she had merged with. Liam didn't have any superpowers, but somehow he had known a boat would explode. Was it possible he had become the entity? It would explain a lot of things. Gwen put her logic to good use: 3812 most likely knew nothing about the narrative it was jumping into. However, it would know there was an author of some sort. There was also the possibility she was 3812, but she didn't feel any different. Plus, she only had two weeks left to live. That meant Liam was the only other choice, simply because his existence was all the entity could be sure of. Gwen took a deep breath, wondering when to confront him.
The next morning, Gwen approached Liam. He was sitting on the bench where they had sat down when she had first appeared in this narrative. He didn't look up as she sat down.
"So, I'm 3812."
"How did you know I was going to say that?"
"How do you think?"
"Right."
He looked up now and smiled.
"You know what this means? I could change the world. I could end world hunger, I could tear apart oppressive governments, I could end world conflict."
"Or you couldn't. If you start changing things, you could cause a lot of damage."
"My existence means everything will go up in flames in a few years, anyway. Why not make it a better place for the remainder of that time?"
"Because…"
He didn't let her finish.
"Are you gonna stand in my way?"
"As far as I can tell, you'll just write me out if I do. But as a spider person, I have a duty to protect people. If I have to stand in your way to do that, I will."
He stood up, a black and red sword appearing in his hand. Gwen stood as well, reaching for one of her katanas and morphing her hood and mask up. The sky suddenly went dark, as if someone had put the Sun out. Liam flicked his wrist; the world seemed to fold itself, encasing them in a box. The sides of the cube shimmered and swirled, making Gwen feel slightly dizzy.
"I knew I was 3812. I wrote it, therefore it is."
"For the record, I don't want to fight you."
"You leave me no choice."
"Didn't creating the Ethereal Plates, and writing me, teach you anything? Power will just tear you apart!"
"Hmmm."
Gwen sprinted forward, ignoring the ripples on the world her every footstep caused. She leapt up, then planted her foot in Liam's face before bringing her katana down where it was blocked by the black and red sword.
"Interesting. I can't affect you. It must be because you're from another narrative."
"All the more reason I have to be the one to stop you."
"I don't see what your problem is."
"You'll tear the world apart!"
"It's already torn apart! What I do will start putting it back together again!"
He headbutted Gwen in the face; she staggered back only to suddenly find herself on railways tracks. They were still inside the cube, but she could hear the horn of a train. Before she could react, an Amtrak one slammed into her. The three hundred ton vehicle simply vanished, leaving her gasping for breath. Liam approached, his black and red sword ready. She forced herself back to her feet, wondering whether she'd be hit by a jet plane next.
"Really? Only some cuts and a nose bleed?"
"I've been hit by worse."
"Obviously."
He slashed at her, but she parried the blow with her second katana. She couldn't see her first, although the pile of metal on the ground suggested it had been destroyed by the train. Liam grabbed her wrist, knocking the blade away. The pair engaged in a vicious boxing match, the blows going faster and faster. Finally, Gwen threw a blow which struck Liam's arm; he grabbed her wrist and threw her away. She struck the side of the box, but continued through it despite the impact. She was back in Reykjavik, and things were going crazy. People were running, screaming, as an enormous fissure slowly cut through the city. Liam emerged from nowhere, his eyes burning with rage. Gwen stared him down, wondering how she could win.
"Look what you're doing!" She yelled, pointing to the fissure.
Liam glanced over and his eyes widened in horror.
"No, no, no, no. That's not right."
He waved his hands a little and the two edges sealed like a zip-lock bag. The buildings that had been destroyed were repaired, and people returned to their daily lives as if nothing had happened. Liam crouched down, thinking to himself. Gwen coughed to get his attention.
"What?"
"Are we just going to ignore that you tried to kill me?"
"I was hoping to make you forget that."
"I thought you worked out you can't directly affect me."
"Hmmm. We'll keep this to ourselves."
"That depends."
"On what?"
"Do you plan to try and tear governments down and end wars, still?"
"No. That won't work."
"Then it'll stay our secret."
She offered him her hand and hauled him to his feet.

Does having an Amtrak train count as a crossover?
