Faramir remembers.
White sand and a pale faced moon and stars as distant as memory, his mother's eyes bright with memory, and her laughter tangled with that of the sea (a woven song that would lace his dreams in later years). He remembers his brother, a tangle of lean limbs and a wicked grin.
He recalls his own delight at seeing the sea, such a sight that stole the breath from his lungs—infinite beneath an equally infinite sky, waves of midnight salt that crashed against the heavens.
It is in the same delight that spreads across his own son's face at the sight, eternal and unchanged since he first beheld it. It is in the laughter that leaves his daughter's mouth and the brightness he sees in his wife's eyes.
Golden hair and a pale face turned towards the stars, which do not seem so distant now.
And in the years are yet to come, long winding years that lay before them still—he will remember.
